Resetting the boil-dry safety protection

The appliance is equipped with boil-dry safety protection. It switches itself off automatically when there is no water in the tank. The steam indicator lamp (10) extinguishes at the same time and an acoustic signal is emitted.

To reset the boil-dry safety protection and start the next steaming process, allow the appliance to cool down, turn the rotary switch (11) to "Reset" and subsequently back to "Steam" for the next steaming process

Filling the water tank (see image D1)

Remove the steamer jug (2) from the water tank (13).

Fill the tank with water.

NOTE

Steam enters into the steamer jug via 3 openings (see image D3). If the steamer jug is overfilled with meat, too much meat stock is produced. This enters into the water container and impairs the boil-dry safety protection.

Turn the rotary switch (11) to the "Off" position. Wait 2 minutes before opening the lid to make sure that steam can no longer escape from the steamer jug. Before the next steaming process, you must turn the rotary switch (11) to "Reset" and then back to "Steam."

If you finish steaming before the water in the tank has fully evaporated, pour the remaining water out of the water tank. If you wish to steam a further portion, you do not need to press the reset button.

Remove the mashed food from the mixer jug. You can use the spatula supplied.

Tips/Recipes

Spoon feeding with supplementary food starts between the 4th and 6th months. Self-made tasty food is prepared quickly and free from harmful substances if the ingredients originate from ecological cultivation. In addition, the appliance steams the food and preserves vitamins at the same time - healthy food right from the very beginning.

Tips

Begin with a few spoonfuls of mashed carrots between between meals and increase the amount from day to day. When 100g has been reached, you can replace the milk feed with porridge - preferably beginning with the midday meal.

Babies like sweet foods which they are use to from breast milk. Begin supplementary feeding with carrots, they taste sweet and are also very easily digested. Marrow, parsnips or turnip cabbage are also suitable - however, only one vegetable type per meal and a maximum of 2 new vegetable types per week.

In order to also make other vegetables tasty for your child try out a previously accepted type first.

Potatoes or meat should be added to vegetables beginning at roughly the 6th to 7th month. However: your child must get used to the new food first. Give the baby one new ingredient per week. Example: mashed carrots in the first week, add mashed potatoes in the 2nd week, add meat in the 3rd week and then sunflower oil in the 4th week.

A complete supplementary diet consists of around 100 g vegetables, 50 g carrots, 10 g fat and roughly 20 g of meat 2 to 3 times a week - altogether 150 to 180 g of baby food.

Parallel to supplementary feeding, you should also give the baby drinks. Make sure that they do not contain sugar.

Baby food does not need spices or flavour enhancers. Babies have a very fine sense of taste and do not require additional stimulation, the taste of the different vegetable types is sufficient. This also reduces the risk of allergic reactions.

Raw vegetables, cabbage and peas and beans are difficult to digest for babies. Be careful with tomatoes as they can cause nappy rash.

After the midday meal, the other milk feedings are gradually replaced: at first at midday (e.g., by a fruit-grain puree), then in the evening (e.g., milk-grain puree) and finally in the morning.

Recipes

Carrot puree

Peel 2 carrots and cut into small pieces. Put the carrots into the steamer and allow to steam for roughly 15 minutes. The carrots are then put into the mixer jug and mashed. If the puree is too firm, add a little vegetable broth from the steamer jug.

The mashed potatoes can be frozen and kept in the refrigerator for one day

Vegetable-potato puree

100 g carrots (or broccoli, parsnips, cauliflower, courgettes)

50 g potatoes

1 tablespoon fat (alternately butter, sunflower oil, corn oil)

Wash the vegetables and potatoes, peel them, cut into large pieces and steam in the steamer jug for approx. 15 minutes. Then put the vegetables into the mixer jug and mash finely. If the puree is too firm, add a little vegetable broth. Finally, mix the fat into the puree.

Later: add 3 to 4 times 20g cooked and pureed meat.

Meat

Take a maximum of 200g lean meat (beef or poultry) - corresponds to one chicken breast filet. Remove the skin, tendons and residual fat, wash the meat and cut into small pieces. Put the meat into the steamer jug and steam it for 20 minutes. The meat is then mashed finely in the mixer jug. If the puree is too firm, add a little meat stock from the steamer jug.

You can freeze the meat paste. Fill the meat paste into an ice cube container for this purpose. After the lumps have been frozen, put the individual meat lumps into a freezer bag and seal firmly. You can also freeze individual portions in small firmly sealed freezer containers. This allows you

take small portions as required each time and add them to the vegetables.

Fruit puree

Apples, pears, apricots or peaches are suitable for the first fruit type - 100 g each. Peel the fruit, remove stones or pips, cut into small pieces and steam for 10 to 15 minutes. After steaming, the fruit is mashed in the mixer jug.

Mashed banana is prepared without steaming. Just put the pieces of banana into the mixer jug and mash finely.

Oatmeal-fruit puree

90 ml water

20 g oatmeal

100 g fruit

Heat water in a pot, stir in the oatmeal and leave to soak. Remove the pot from the cooker and allow to cool down. Add the fruit puree to the oatmeal.
