What is the minimum installation height of the Boretti Umbria hood?

The minimum height between the hood and the cooking surface is 65 cm. If the instructions of the cooking device indicate a greater distance, that prevails.

How to clean the grease filter?

The metallic grease filter must be cleaned once a month. You can wash it by hand with a non-aggressive detergent or in the dishwasher on a short cycle at low temperature. Washing in the dishwasher may discolor the filter without affecting its performance.

When should the carbon filter be replaced?

The activated carbon filter is neither washable nor recyclable. Under normal use, it must be replaced every 4 months. This filter is only necessary if the hood operates in recirculation mode (without external extraction).

How to change the hood's bulb?

Make sure the bulb is cool. Unclip the cover to access the bulb. Replace it with a halogen bulb of max 20 W. Avoid touching the bulb with bare hands. Replace the cover by clipping it back.

Can the Boretti Umbria hood operate in recirculation mode?

Yes, if external extraction is not possible. You must then use the hood in filtering version by installing an activated carbon filter (not supplied). The fumes are filtered and returned to the kitchen through the upper grille.

What to do if the hood does not turn on?

First check the power supply: the voltage must match that indicated on the label. If the problem persists, check the fuses or circuit breaker. For any malfunction, call a professional.

Can I flambé food under the hood?

No, it is strictly forbidden to flambé food under the hood. Flames can damage the filters and cause a fire.

What is the function of the timer?

After selecting a speed (1, 2 or 3), press the same key again to activate the timer: the hood will run for 5 minutes and then turn off automatically.

How to use the hood in extraction mode?

The hood is supplied with an upper connection piece (mark B) to connect an extraction duct to the outside (not supplied). Follow the installation instructions and comply with local regulations.

What to do if the hood is noisy?

Excessive noise can come from a clogged filter or incorrect installation. Clean or replace the filters. Ensure the hood is properly fixed and that the extraction ducts are not blocked.

Installation

The cooker hood must be placed at a minimum distance of 65 cm from the cooking plane. I the instructions for installation for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this has to be taken into account. Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only. Do not fix chimney flue to furniture or fly over shelves unless the chimney flue can be easily removed, in case maintenance is ever required.

Use an exhaust pipe with a diameter of at least 125 mm!!

The cooker hood is provided with an upper air exit (B) for discharging fumes externally (exhaust pipe not supplied). If cooking fumes and vapours cannot be externally discharged, the cooker hood can be used in the circulating version F. The installation of charcoal filters allows the recirculation of fumes and vapours through the upper grid of the chimney.

Electrical connection

The electrical tension must correspond to the tension noted on the label placed inside the cooker hood.

Environmental Regulations

Should you wish to discard the machine for any reason, please comply with the following: Take the machine to the local authorized company that collects discarded household appliances. Correct processing enable valuable materials to be recycled in an intelligent manner. Before discarding your machine it is important that you cut off the power supply cord and remove it together with the plug. This machine has been accorded the appropriate mark in accordance with European Directive 2002/96EG regarding discarded electric and electronic equipment. This directive determines the standards for the collection and recycling of discarded equipment that apply to the entire territory of the European Union.

Operation instructions

The cooker hood is provided with 5 keys.

B: Motor OFF

1 - 2 - 3: Suction power: Minimum (1), medium (2), maximum (3)

You can make the 1 - 2 - 3 speed function for 5 minutes, after which the hood switches off. To use this function, after having pressed the key to choose the desired speed, press again.

Maintenance

Prior to any maintenance operation ensure that the cooker hood is disconnected from the electrical outlet.

Cleaning

The cooker hood should be cleaned regularly internally and externally. For cleaning use a cloth moistened with denatured alcohol or neutral liquid detergents. Avoid abrasive detergents.

Warning: Failure to carry out the basic standards of the cleaning of the cooker hood and replacement of the filters may cause fire risks. Therefore we recommend observing these instructions.

Anti-grease Filter

The anti-grease filter must be cleaned once a month, with non abrasive detergents by hand, or in dishwasher on low temperature and short cycle. When washed in a dishwasher, the grease filter may discolour slightly, but this does not affect its filtering capacity.

Charcoal Filter - (only for filter version)

The active charcoal filters are not washable nor regenerative. It should be changed every 4 months in normal use.

Replacing light bulbs

Warning! Prior to touching the light bulbs ensure they are cooled down.

Extract the lamp cover by levering it off with a small screwdriver or similar tool. Replace the damaged light bulb. Only use halogen bulbs of 20W max, making sure you do not touch them with your hands. Close the lamp cover (it will snap shut).

Caution

This appliance is designed to be operated by adults. Children should not be allowed to tamper with the controls or play with the appliance.

Do not use the cooker hood where the grill is not correctly fixed! The suctioned air must not be conveyed in the same channel used for fumes discharged by appliances powered by other than electricity. The environment must always be adequately aerated when the cooker hood and other appliances powered by other than electricity are used at the same time. Flambé cooking with a cooker hood is prohibited. The use of a free flame is damaging to the filters and may cause fire accidents, therefore free flame cooking must be avoided. Frying of foods must be kept under close control in order to avoid overheated oil catching fire. Carry out fumes discharging in accordance with the regulations in force by local laws for safety and technical restrictions.
