SAFETY OPERATION

Ensure that all safety precautions are followed when using electrical appliances for the proper operation of the device.

This instruction booklet describes the safety precautions to be observed during operation to prevent injuries to yourself, other persons and damage to the device. The content not only is suitable for this product but also suitable for electrical appliances in general.

To prevent electric shock, do not dismantle, repair or modify this product freely. Maintenance and cleaning shall be processed as exactly as what instructed in this manual. In case of malfunction, please contact the authorized maintenance center.

Do not subject the device to direct sunlight or near high temperature objects. Internal temperature rise in serious cases may cause fire, in mild cases may cause deformation of the outer casing. (Stop operation when ambient temperature exceeds 104 °F)

Do not allow foreign objects into the device. High voltage inside the device may cause electric shock. Children should not be allowed to touch or play with this device to avoid accidents.

To prevent fire or electric shock hazard, do not place the unit in wet places where water may enter the device.

Do not use fabrics or other materials to cover this device. Obstructed air inlets and outlets will result in abnormal operation of this device that may lead to fire or other accidents.

To prevent interference and distortion, the device should be placed at least 1 meter away from the computer, television or radio.

For safety reasons and to prevent fire or electric shock, unplug the power cord from the electric outlet socket under the following conditions:

• When you do not use the device for a long period.
• When cleaning, servicing the machine or during replacement of filter materials.
• When you move the device.

WARNING

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an authorized service personnel in order to avoid electric shocks and fire hazards.

MULTI-LAYER FILTER

BEFORE USING

Before Turning On The Air Purifier:

• Open the front cover and remove the air filter.
• Remove the plastic covering from the air filter.

- Tear off the perforated cardboard that is covering the back side of the air filter cartridge.

- Place the air filter back into the air purifier and re-install the front cover.

AIR PURIFICATION TECHNOLOGIES - OVERVIEW

Air Ionizer:

• Effectively removes particulate from the air, such as allergens (including mould and dust mites), fine dust particles, bacteria, viruses, chemical fumes and other ultra-fine particles that a filter cannot capture.
• Increases the effectiveness of the HEPA and activated-carbon filter systems, by causing particles to magnetically attract together, resulting in larger particles that are easier for the filter to capture.
• Disinfects viruses and bacteria trapped in the filtration bank, that would normally reproduce in other typical filters.
• Has the ability to remove airborne particles away from the air purifier, in areas of the room where the filter has little effect. This is due to the fact that ions can circulate throughout a room. Negative ion circulation is enhanced as a result of the fan.

HEPA Filter:

• Removes over 99% of particles (.3 microns in size) that pass through the filter, preventing them from becoming re-circulated into the air. This is largely considered the most effective type of air filter.
• Captures a high volume of floating dust and other particles, including many of the ionized particles that would otherwise just settle to the ground if a typical ionizer were used.

Germicidal UV Light:

• UV (ultraviolet) light is scientifically-proven to destroy a large variety of microbial contaminants, such as viruses, germs, bacteria and fungi (including mould).
• Ultraviolet light has been used for years by the medical field (including hospitals) to sanitize rooms and equipment, in order to prevent the spread of illness and disease.
• Is recommended by Centers for Disease Control for its ability to destroy biological pollutants

Activated Carbon Filter:

- Specializes in capturing and neutralizing chemicals, gases, odours and cigarette smoke, which the HEPA filter cannot capture.

Programmable Sanitizer:

• Is a powerful odour eliminator, which is lacking in most other air purification methods.
• Is a powerful disinfectant at close range, making it an effective filter sanitizer. As a result, ozone will prevent microbes trapped in the filter from reproducing.
• In this model, the ozone can be completely disabled if it is not needed or wanted, while still allowing the ionizer and filters to run at full power.

Antibacterial Pre-Filter:

• Destroys bacteria.
  • Captures the larger particles, increasing the life of the HEPA and activated-carbon filters.

PLACEMENT

Where to Put the HF 300D

Since the HEPA filter and ionic air purifier use a fan and blow a strong current of air out the top of the unit, it is not necessary to place the unit at a high elevation. The unit can be placed on the floor, a table, a countertop, or on a shelf.

• The back of the unit should be at least 8 inches away from the wall, to prevent discoloration of the wall.
• There should not be any obstructions above the air outlet on top of the air purifier.
• There should be at least 2 feet of space between the top of the air purifier and any object or surface above it.
• Finally, keep the unit at least 3 feet away from computers, televisions, and sensitive electrical equipment.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Ion/Power Button

This button turns the HEPA filter & ionic air purifier on. The ionizer and UV lamp are automatically engaged when the unit is in operation.

Sanitizer/Ozone Button

This button allows you to select the Off, Low, Medium, or High setting. Just hit the button until the LED light next to the desired setting is lit. When there is no LED light lit next to the Sanitizer button, then the unit will not produce ozone.

On the Low setting, the sanitizer runs in intervals of 30 seconds On, and 3 minutes Off. On the Medium setting, the sanitizer runs in intervals of 3 minutes On, and 3 minutes Off. On the High setting, it runs continuously, which is recommended in situations where strong odours or heavy pollution are present.

Fan Speed/Air Flow

There are three fan speed options: Low, Medium, and High.

Timer

The timer can be set to 1, 2, or 4 hours. If none of these timer settings is selected, the ionic air purifier will run continuously, which is generally best. If you are running the sanitizer on a high setting in a small area while you are gone, then you may want to use the timer to prevent the ozone level from reaching excessively high levels.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

In order to keep the unit at its optimal working condition, it is highly recommended to follow the following procedure once every two months:

Since the pre-filter (once the filter box is removed this is the first filter seen with blue colour), usually accumulates dust particles, it should be cleaned by using a cleaning brush or it can be vacuumed. To do this, turn the unit off, open the front cover and remove the filter. If the filter compartment seems very dirty you can wipe it out with a damp cloth before replacing the filter. Also if the air inlets and the air outlet shows some sign of dust build up, they can be vacuumed as well for proper air flow.

Replacing the Filter Cartridge

1. Turn the unit off and open the front cover. If the white (HEPA) side of the filter cartridge is dark gray in colour, proceed to the next step.
2. Remove the old filter and throw it away. Remove the wrapping from the new filter cartridge, and place the new filter in its proper position.
3. Put the front cover back on making sure that it is properly inserted and locked by aligning the two tabs at the bottom, and press firmly to lock.

Replacing the UV Bulb

1. Turn the unit off and open the front cover. Remove the air filter cartridge.
2. Remove the expired UV lamp and replace it with the new UV lamp. Handle the UV lamp on each end in order to avoid breaking the lamp.
3. Press the lamp into the UV lamp slot, so that the metal pins at each end of the UV bulb are firmly in contact with the metal conductors inside each clamp. Close the plastic clamps over the lamp on each side.
4. Place the filter back in its compartment, and put the front cover back on. The air purifier is now ready for operation again.

CAUTION

Make sure that air filter cartridge is in place before operating the air purifier, or direct UV rays may escape through the front cover of the unit. Direct UV light can cause skin or eye damage.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Strange Smell from the Unit

The HF 300D air purifier may cause a subtle “burning” smell. This can be attributed to one of two things:

1. The UV lamp produces only trace amounts of ozone, which may be detected in small, enclosed spaces. If the smell is bothersome, then you can remove the UV lamp from the machine. Doing so does not affect the other air purification methods.
2. The slight "burning" smell could be a result of harmless and non-flammable by-products from the HEPA filter paper. After a few days or weeks of continuous use, the burning smell will disappear completely.

UV Lamp Not Working

The UV lamp should illuminate while operating. Since it is located behind the filter, you can only see the “blue glow” by peering through the top air outlets into the interior of the air purifier. If the UV lamp is not glowing when on, and it has been in use for less than a year, then push on each end of the bulb to make sure it is tightly in the UV lamp holder.

Cannot Turn on the Unit

In order for the unit to power up, the front grill has to be fully inserted and locked. Please make sure that the grill is properly inserted and locked by aligning the two tabs at the bottom and pushing firmly until you hear a snap noise.

The HF 300D is subjected to strict testing procedures before leaving the factory. If within three years from the date of purchase the product does not perform according to the specifications, because of factory defects, the purchaser is entitled to free repairs or replacement of parts upon presentation of this warranty (provided that the malfunction or damage to the device and/or parts occurred under normal operating conditions).

What is covered: All parts defective in material and workmanship.

For how long: Three years from purchase date.

What we will do: Repair or replace any defective parts.

Exclusions: Regular replacement parts such as air filter cartridges and UV lamps; plastic clamps that hold in UV lamp.

90-Day Replacement Policy

If, due to manufacturer defect, any part requires repair during the first 90 days after receiving your ionizer, Heaven Fresh will replace it with a new machine.
