surface. Enjoy a German top-class product of excellent quality and meeting the latest technological standards. Before you start grilling, please read the following notes carefully and observe them. Thank you very much. Important safeguards
- Before use please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. Only use the appliance for the application as prescribed herein; improper use will lead to loss of warranty.
- Check whether the details on the rating label are in conformity with your mains voltage. Only connect unit to alternating current.
- Basically, you may also use heat-resistant cooking vessels on the Ceran
surface, but no utensils consisting of synthetic material, inferior enamel, china or aluminium foil. Mind that energy will be unnecessarily wasted if smaller cooking vessels are used. Furthermore, there is the danger of damage to plastic handles caused by ascending heat.
- In case any plastic objects, aluminium foil, sugar or dishes containing sugar accidentally happen to melt on the Ceran
surface, immediately shove them away from the hot heating zone with the included cleaning scraper. Never use oven sprays or stain-removers for cleaning! Special cleaning agents for the glass plate are available on the market.
- Avoid scratches on the glass plate caused by pointed or sharp objects. Protect the glass plate against breakage by falling objects.
- Any damages resulting from non-observance of these safeguards will not be covered by warranty.
- Place unit on a heat-resistant, stable and even working surface. Never operate unit near other heat sources (stove, open gas ame etc.). The space above the appliance must be free, the wall distance must be at least 10 cm on all sides. Unhindered air circulation has to be ensured. And this is how to use the grill By pressing the rotary knob simply once, it can be retracted into the casing and let out again the same way. This retraction mechanism can be operated at each setting. The knob is therefore splash-protected and you prevent unintentional re-setting of the temperature. At the same time it is avoided that little children switch on or re-set the grill. With this knob the desired temperature is innitely variable, from keeping warm to searing at up to 380° C. The grill is equipped with an automatic temperature system, that means that it heats up with maximum power at each setting and then maintains the temperature by adjusting the power supply accordingly. To grill, pre-heat the appliance for approx. 6-8 minutes at maximum setting and then place your food on the Ceran
surface. For vegetables and raw meat we recommend pouring some oil on the grill surface before. Marinated food will generate certain smokes and should be seared at level 8 at most. Sear your meat at a high setting, following that the set temperature may be reduced. Use the following settings 1.....5 to keep warm and to warm up 4.....9 to steam, stew, cook 8....12 to sear and grill quickly GB Instruction Manual 7On the Ceran
surface, you can see a pilot lamp indicating whether the appliance is switched on. During the grilling procedure you may shove away any food residues into the lateral fat-collecting channel by using the included scraper and clean the grill surface with it. Caution: Protect your hands by using an ovencloth or a cooking glove. This fat-collecting channel may be taken out very easily by slightly pressing the dotted spot in the front area, and when the channel has come off, it may be detached with the other hand. As an additional feature, the Ceran
Grill is equipped with a lift-up foot that enables a slant position pointing towards the fat-collecting channel and so allows for low-fat grilling. This foot is attached underneath the appliance and is very easy to lift up and lock in place. Do not use any sugar, honey, syrup or other dishes and ingredients with a high sugar content on the Ceran
grill. This includes for example ketchup, some barbecue sauces (see ingredients indicated on the bottle), as well as bananas and tinned fruit. Do not use any vessels, scrapers or spatulas made of synthetics; those could melt and damage the Ceran
grill surface. Do not use any pointed objects (such as forks, knives) on the grill surface and do not put aluminium foil on it. - During use, surfaces will get hot and will remain so for some time even after the appliance was turned off. Mind the risk of getting burned when touching the appliance! Keep the power cord away from the hot cooking surface, as well as the power cords of other adjacent electrical appliances.
- Do not operate the appliance without supervision. The safest manner to switch off the unit is to pull the mains plug.
- Children are not aware of the dangers involved in the handling of electrical appliances. Therefore, never let them operate electrical appliances unattended.
- Overheated fat or oil may ignite. This is why foods containing fat or oil must be prepared under supervision only.
- The integrated overheating protection makes sure that the grill surface cannot overheat, not even in continuous operation. If cracks, ssures or breakage is caused and if it may be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, immediately turn off the appliance and disconnect the mains plug.
- Do not place any objects on top of the appliance, do not use it as a worktop and do not move it when hot. Do not use it as a space heater.
- Never immerse the appliance into water for cleaning. Please also make sure that no water or steam can inltrate the underside.
- This electric appliance complies with the relevant safety regulations. In case of signs of damage to the appliance, the power cord or the sealing, or if the glass plate is broken, immediately unplug the appliance. Repairs may be effected by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user!
- When replacing the mains power line, HO5VV-F type or HO5RR-F type lines must be used. Cleaning and maintenance Switch off the appliance and unplug it. Then remove all food residues and splashes of oil from the hot zone of the grill surface using the included cleaning scraper. This is done most easily if you discard the residues from the hot zone into the fat-collecting channel right after the grilling procedure. While doing so, protect your hands with an ovencloth or a cooking glove. Then clean the cold grill surface with dishwater and wipe it dry with a clean cloth or kitchen tissue. If food residues have burnt into the grill surface, soak them by dripping some dishwater onto the glass plate. If some stubborn residues are still left on the cold surface after that cleaning procedure, you can remove them using an appropriate cleanser for Ceran
cooking surfaces. For this end rub the entire grill surface with some drops of the cleaning agent using a kitchen tissue until no residues are visible anymore. Right afterwards the entire grill surface is wiped in wet condition several times (e.g. with a kitchen tissue, sponge or cloth soaked with water). Then dry with a clean cloth. Make sure no cleanser residues have remained on the grill surface. Never immerse the appliance in water and use no steam jet appliances. Make sure no water or steam may inltrate the appliance from below either. Never use abrasives, steel wool or sharp, scratchy objects.
