Can I use this barbecue outdoors?

No, this appliance is prohibited outdoors. It is designed solely for indoor domestic use.

How to clean the cooking plate?

The plate, drip tray, and plastic base are dishwasher safe. You can also wash them by hand with a sponge, hot water, and dish soap. The control unit and its cord must not be immersed.

What to do if the appliance does not heat up?

Check that the heating element is correctly positioned. The safety system prevents starting if the element is misaligned. Also ensure the appliance is plugged in and the thermostat is not on the min setting.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, but it must have an equivalent or larger cross-section and include a grounded plug. Take all precautions so that no one trips over it.

Can children use this appliance?

Children aged 8 years and up may use it under supervision, provided they have received instructions on safe use. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning must not be done by children under 8 without supervision.

How to adjust the cooking temperature?

The thermostat has positions 1 to 5. After preheating (10-15 min at max position), set the thermostat to the desired position to cook to your preferred doneness.

Should I preheat the appliance?

Yes, it is recommended to preheat the appliance for about 10 to 15 minutes at max position (4) before placing food on it.

Can I cook en papillote or use aluminum foil?

No, it is prohibited to place aluminum foil or any other object between the plate and food. Cooking en papillote is also not recommended.

What to do in case of a burn?

Immediately run cold water over the burn and call a doctor if necessary. Keep the appliance out of reach of children.

Where to find spare parts?

Spare parts (plate, drip tray, control unit, cord) are available from Tefal after-sales service or authorized centers.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

• This appliance must not be used outside.

• This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:

• staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

• farm houses;
• by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;

• bed and breakfast type environments.

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating.
• Remove all packaging materials, stickers and

accessories from the inside and the outside of the appliance.

• Fully unwind the power cord.
• Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.
• Any connection error may cause irreversible damage and will invalidate your guarantee.

• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Never immerse the power cord or control box in water or any other liquid.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Children under the age of 8 years should not use this appliance unless continuous supervision by a responsible adult is given. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.

Do

• Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach.
• If the appliance is used in the centre of the table, keep it out of the reach of children.
• Make sure the device is placed in a stable position before using it.
• If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
• Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.

• Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate.

• In order to avoid deterioration of the plate, use it only as it was designed to be used (for example, do not place it in an oven or on a stove, whether it be gas or electric).

• Use only the plate provided with the device or a plate bought at an authorized Service Centre.
• Before first use, wash the plate (see paragraph After Use), pour a small amount of oil on it and dry with a soft cloth.
• Be careful where you place the electric power cord, whether you use an extension or not. Take all the necessary precautions in order not to hinder people from moving around the table, so that nobody gets tangled or trips over the cord.

Do not

• Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use.
• To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
• Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a teatowel.
• Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.).
• Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.

• Do not use aluminium foil or other objects between the plate and the food being cooked.
• Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
• To avoid spoiling your product, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
• Do not use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface.
• Do not remove the grease collector tray during cooking.
• If the grease collector tray gets filled during cooking, let the contents cool before emptying it.

Advice / information

• For your safety, this appliance conforms to all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Food Compliant Materials, Environment, ...).
• On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke.

• Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with lego.

• If the electrical box is incorrectly positioned, the safety system will prevent the appliance from working.

• The device will be ready for use once it is preheated.

Using

• Preheat the device for about 10-15 minutes at maximum temperature - 4.
• Once the device is preheated, is will be ready for use.
  Fix the thermostat according to the heat level you wish - 5.

Cook according to taste.

After use

• Place the thermostat in the min. position - 7.

• Unplug the appliance. Leave it to cool down for at least two hours before cleaning - 8 - 9 - 10.

• Clean the plate and the body of the device with a sponge, hot water and a dishwashing agent - 12.

The plate, the plastic base and the collector tray can go in the automatic dishwasher - 11. Do not put the control unit and its power supply cable in the dishwasher - 13.
