The vibration level given in these instructions has been measured in accordance with a standardised measuring pro- cedure and may be used to compare power tools. It can also be used for a preliminary estimation of exposure to vibra- tion. The stated vibration level applies to the main applications of the power tool. However, if the power tool is used for differ- ent applications, with different application tools or poorly maintained, the vibration level may differ. This can signific- antly increase the exposure to vibration over the total work- ing period. To estimate the exposure to vibration accurately, the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not ac- tually being used should also be taken into account. This can significantly reduce the exposure to vibration over the total working period. Implement additional safety measures to protect the oper- ator from the effects of vibration, such as servicing the power tool and application tools, keeping the hands warm, and organising workflows correctly. Fitting Fitting Protective Equipment u Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any work on the power tool. Note: If the grinding disc breaks during operation or the holding fixtures on the protective guard/power tool become damaged, the power tool must be sent to the after-sales ser- vice immediately; see the "After-Sales Service and Applica- tion Service" section for addresses. Protective guard for grinding Place the protective guard (7) onto the holder on the power tool until the coding cams of the protective guard are aligned with the holder. When doing so, press and hold the unlocking lever (1). Press the protective guard (7) onto the spindle collar un- til the shoulder of the pro- tective guard is sitting on the flange of the power tool and rotate the protective guard until it audibly clicks into place. Adjust the position of the protective guard (7) to meet the requirements of the operation. To do this, push the unlock- ing lever (1) upward and rotate the protective guard (7) into the required position. u Always position the protective guard(7) such that the two cams on the unlocking lever(1) engage in the corresponding openings on the protective guard(7). u Adjust the protective guard (7) such that sparking in the direction of the operator is prevented. u The protective guard (7) must only be adjustable while the unlocking lever (1) is actuated. Otherwise, the power tool must not be used any more under any circumstances and must be sent to the after-sales ser- vice. Note: The coding cams on the protective guard (7) ensure that only a protective guard that is suitable for the power tool can be fitted. Extraction guard for sanding The extraction guard (8) can be used to minimise dust when sanding paint, varnish and plastics in conjunction with the carbide grinding head (10). The extraction guard (8) is not suitable for working metals. 1 609 92A 6PL | (30.06.2021) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 27 A suitable Bosch vacuum cleaner can be connected to the extraction guard (8). The extraction guard (8) is mounted in the same manner as the protective guard (7). The brush collar can be replaced. Protective guard for cutting u Always use the protective guard for cutting (6) when cutting with bonded abrasives. u Provide sufficient dust extraction when cutting stone. The protective guard for cutting (6) is fitted in the same way as the protective guard for grinding (7). Extraction guard for cutting with a guide block The extraction guard for cutting with a guide block (18) is fit- ted in the same way as the protective guard for grinding. Hand guard u Always fit the hand guard (20) when working with the rubber sanding plate (22) or with the cup brush/disc brush/flap disc. Attach the hand guard (20) to the side handle (5). Side handle u Do not operate your power tool without the side handle (5). u Do not continue to use the power tool if the auxiliary handle is damaged. Do not make any alterations to the auxiliary handle. Screw the side handle (5) on the left or right of the machine head depending on how your are working. Low-vibration auxiliary handle Screw the auxiliary handle (5) on the right or left of the machine head depending on the working method. The low-vibration auxiliary handle reduces vibration, en- abling the tool to be used safely and more comfortably. u Do not operate your power tool without the side handle (5). u Do not make any alterations of any kind to the auxili- ary handle. Do not continue to use a damaged auxiliary handle. Fitting the abrasive tools u Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any work on the power tool. u Do not touch grinding and cutting discs until they have cooled down. The discs can become very hot while work- ing. Clean the grinding spindle (16) and all the parts to be fitted. Lock the grinding spindle with the spindle lock button (2) before clamping and releasing the abrasive tools. u Do not press the spindle lock button while the grind- ing spindle is moving. The power tool may become dam- aged if you do this. Grinding/cutting disc Pay attention to the dimensions of the abrasive tools. The diameter of the hole must match that of the mounting flange. Do not use an adapter or reducer. When using diamond cutting discs, ensure that the arrow in- dicating the direction of rotation on the diamond cutting disc matches the direction of rotation of the power tool (see the direction of rotation arrow on the machine head). See the graphics page for assembly instructions. To fasten the grinding/cutting disc, screw on the clamping nut(14) and tighten with the two-hole spanner(see " Quick- clamping nut ", page27). u After fitting the abrasive tool, check that the abrasive tool is fitted correctly and can turn freely before switching on the power tool. Make sure that the abras- ive tool does not brush against the protective guard or other parts. A plastic part (O-ring) is fitted around the cent- ring collar in the mounting flange (9). If the O- ring is missing or damaged, the mounting flange (9) must be replaced before operation can resume. Flap disc u Always fit the hand guard (20) when working with the flap disc. Rubber sanding pad u Always fit the hand guard (20) when working with the rubber sanding pad (22). See the graphics page for fitting instructions. Screw on the round nut (24) and tighten with the two-pin spanner. Cup brush/disc brush u Always fit the hand guard (20) when working with the cup brush or disc brush. See the graphics page for fitting instructions. The cup brush/disc brush must be screwed onto the grinding spindle until it rests firmly against the grinding spindle flange at the end of the grinding spindle thread. Tighten the cup brush/disc brush with an open-ended spanner. Quick-clamping nut To change the abrasive tool easily without having to use any additional tools, you can use the quick-clamping nut (13) in- stead of the clamping nut (14). u The quick-clamping nut (13) may be used only for grinding or cutting discs. Only use quick-clamping nuts (13) that are in good work- ing order and not damaged. When screwing on, make sure that the printed side of the quick-clamping nut (13) is not facing the grinding disc; the arrow must be pointing towards the index mark (26). To tighten the quick-clamping nut, turn the grinding disc firmly clockwise. If the quick-clamping nut has been attached correctly and is not damaged, you can loosen it by hand by turning the knurled ring an- ticlockwise. If the quick- clamping nut is stuck, do not attempt to loosen it with pliers – always use the two-pin spanner. Posi- tion the two‑pin spanner as shown in the figure. Approved Abrasive Tools You can use all the abrasive tools mentioned in these operat- ing instructions. The permissible speed [min
] or the circumferential speed [m/s] of the abrasive tools used must at least match the val- ues given in the table. It is therefore important to observe the permissible rota- tional/circumferential speed on the label of the abrasive tool. max. [mm] [mm] D b d [min
75 30 M 14 11,500 45 82 – M 14 11,500 80 Rotating the Machine Head (seefigureA) u Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any work on the power tool. The machine head can be rotated in 90° increments. In this way, the on/off switch can be brought into a more favourable handling position for particular applications, e.g. for left- handed tool users. Completely unscrew the four screws. Rotate the machine head carefully, without removing it from the housing, into the new position. Screw in and retighten the four screws. Dust/Chip Extraction The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health. Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac- tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in people in the near vicinity. Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain- ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists. – Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma- terial wherever possible. – Provide good ventilation at the workplace. – It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask. The regulations on the material being machined that apply in the country of use must be observed. u Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can easily ignite. Operation Start-Up u Pay attention to the mains voltage. The voltage of the power source must match the voltage specified on the rating plate of the power tool. Power tools marked with 230V can also be operated with 220V. When operating the power tool using a mobile generator that does not have sufficient reserve capacity or an adequate voltage control system with inrush current boost converter, loss of performance or atypical behaviour may occur upon switch-on. Please check the suitability of the power generator you are using, particularly with regard to the mains voltage and fre- quency. u Products that are only sold in AUS and NZ: Use a resid- ual current device (RCD) with a nominal residual current of 30 mA or less. Switching on/off To start the power tool, push the on/off switch (3) forward. To lock the on/off switch (3) in position, push the on/off switch (3) forward and down until it clicks into place. To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (3); or, if the switch is locked, briefly push the on/off switch (3) backward and down and then release it. 1 609 92A 6PL | (30.06.2021) Bosch Power ToolsEnglish | 29 u Always check abrasive tools before using them. The abrasive tool must be fitted properly and be able to move freely. Carry out a test run for at least one minute with no load. Do not use abrasive tools that are damaged, run untrue or vibrate during use. Damaged abrasive tools can burst apart and cause injuries. Restart protection The restart protection feature prevents the power tool from uncontrolled starting after the power supply to it has been interrupted. To restart the tool, set the on/off switch (3) to the off posi- tion and then switch the power tool on again. Starting current limitation The electronic starting current limitation feature restricts the power of the power tool when it is switched on and enables operation using a 16 A fuse. Note: If the power tool runs at full speed immediately after being switched on, this means that the starting current limit- ation and restarting protection mechanisms have failed. The power tool must be sent to the after-sales service immedi- ately; see the "After-Sales Service and Application Service" section for addresses. To restart the tool, set the On/Off switch (3) to the "off" po- sition and then switch the power tool on again. Constant Electronic control (GWS 12-125 CI / GWS 13-125 CI / GWS 13-125 CIE / GWS 15-125 CIE / GWS 15-125 Inox / GWS 17-125 CI / GWS17-125 CIE / GWS 17-125 CIT / GWS 17-150 CI / GWS 17-125 Inox / GWS 19-125 CI / GWS 19-125 CIE / GWS 19-150 CI / GWS 19-125 CIST) The Constant Electronic keeps the speed at no load and un- der load virtually consistent, guaranteeing uniform perform- ance. Speed preselection (GWS 13-125 CIE / GWS 15-125 CIE / GWS 15-125 Inox / GWS 17-125 CIE / GWS 17-125 CIT / GWS 17-125 Inox / GWS 19-125 CIE) You can preselect the required speed using the speed preselection thumbwheel (4), even during operation. The in- formation in the table below describes the recommended values.
