How to descale my Kalorik TKG CM 1004 coffee maker?

To descale, use a specific coffee maker descaler or white vinegar. Pour 3 tablespoons of vinegar into the tank, fill with water to the maximum level, then run a cycle without coffee. Repeat with clear water 2 to 3 times to rinse. Perform this operation every 7 to 10 uses if the water is hard.

What to do if coffee takes longer to drip through?

A longer flow time indicates that your machine needs descaling. Limescale accumulates in the pipes and slows down the water flow. Follow the descaling procedure described in the manual to restore optimal performance.

Can I use ground coffee other than coffee?

No, do not put anything other than ground coffee in the filter. Any other substance could damage the appliance or pose a health risk.

Can the carafe go in the microwave?

No, the carafe should never be placed in the microwave to reheat coffee. This could damage it or cause burns.

How to clean my coffee maker?

Before any cleaning, unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Removable parts (filter, filter holder, carafe and lid) can be washed in warm soapy water. The body of the machine can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Never immerse the appliance in water.

Can I use descalers other than specific ones?

How to use the machine for the first time?

Before first use, run the machine 3 times with water only (without coffee). Pour water into the tank, turn it on, and let it run. Turn off and let cool between cycles. This removes any manufacturing residues.

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.

Do not use your appliance if the carafe is cracked or broken. Use only the carafe delivered with your appliance. Attention, your carafe becomes hot during the use. Take it only by the handle.
Never touch the hot parts of the appliance (be careful, also the warming plate is a hot part!), only touch the plastic parts and take the jug by the handle.
Make sure the appliance never comes into contact with inflammable materials such as curtains, textiles... when it is in use as they might catch fire.
When removing lime scale, only use special products for the removal of lime scale. Never use ammonia or any other substance that might damage your health.
Only put ground coffee in the filter.
Never use your coffee maker without water in it.
Important: never put the jug in a microwave oven to warm up the coffee. We will not take any responsibility if you do so.

Competent qualified electrician: after-sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In case of need you should return the appliance to this electrician.

FIELD OF APPLICATION/OF OPERATION

Use the appliance for domestic purposes only and in the way indicated in these instructions.
This appliance is intended to be used for domestic applications and similar applications such as:

Kitchen corners reserved for personnel in shops, offices and other professional environments.

Farms.

The use by clients of hotels, motels and other environments with a residential character.

Environments of the "bed and breakfast" type.

INITIAL OPERATION

When you use your appliance for the first time, pour fresh water into the water tank and switch on the appliance (without coffee).

Once all the water has passed through, switch the appliance off and let it cool down. When it is cold enough, repeat the process with fresh water. Repeat this process 3 times.

PREPARATION OF COFFEE

• Open the lid of the water tank.
  Using the glass carafe, pour the desired amount of water into the water tank. Make sure not to overfill by respecting the maximum level indicated on the water tank.
• Place the filter holder into the coffee maker. Put a filter in the filter holder and add the desired quantity of ground coffee in the filter. Put back the filter holder, making sure it is placed correctly.
• Never forget to close the lid of the water tank and to place the glass carafe on the warming plate before switching on your coffee maker.
• Press the "power" button to switch on the coffee maker. The pilot light will be illuminated, indicating that your appliance is working. A device allows you to keep coffee warm for as long as the coffee maker is working and the jug is standing on the appliance. Caution: the coffee maker will not turn off as long as you don't switch it off manually. We advise you not to let the appliance switched on for more than 2 hours and make sure that you never let an empty jug on the appliance.
• When you remove the jug from the appliance, a non-drip valve will automatically operate to stop any drops of coffee dripping onto the hotplate. Replacement of the carafe automatically opens the non-drip valve and allows remaining coffee to filter through into the jug.
• Wait until the brewing process is finished and the filter has run empty before removing the jug.

DECALCIFICATION AND CLEANING

Before cleaning, turn off the appliance, unplug it and let it cool down.
The filter, filter holder, carafe and carafe lid can be cleaned in a solution of warm water and mild liquid soap.
The coffee maker can be cleaned using a damp cloth. Never immerse the body of your coffee maker in water or any other liquid. Never use abrasive cleaning products or solvents.
- Decalcifying the coffee maker prolongs its life span. For decalcification only use products especially made for the decalcification of coffee makers.
- Never use a dishwasher to clean the jug. Just clean it in soapsuds.

If the water in your region is hard, descale your coffee maker every 7 to 10 uses as follows:

Pour 3 cups of clean vinegar into the water tank and fill to the maximum level with water.
- Place the carafe on the warming plate.
Plug in the coffee maker and press the "power" button.
- When the water tank has emptied, switch off the coffee maker and empty the carafe.
- Rinse the coffee maker two or three times by repeating the above process using cold water only.

PRACTICAL HINTS

When you notice that the coffee making process is longer than it should be, it is probably time to decalcify the appliance. Do not wait until the situation gets worse. The decalcifying frequency depends on the amount of lime in the water and therefore can be different from family to family. Therefore it is important to pay attention to this. A good maintenance of your appliance will prolong its lifespan. Guarantee claims will not be accepted for the replacement of a heating element full of scale.
