Frequently Asked Questions - GZPA 1.8000SPLHC Ground Zero

How to install the GZPA 1.8000SPLHC amplifier?
First, disconnect the vehicle battery. Choose a location with good air circulation. Secure the amplifier with the provided screws. Connect the +12V power cable (min. 2x50mm²) to the battery via a fuse holder within 20 cm of the battery. Connect the ground to a clean chassis ground point (cable min. 2x50mm²). Connect the Remote wire to the 12V output of the head unit. Finally, connect the RCA cables and speakers.
What is the minimum speaker impedance in normal mode?
The amplifier is stable at 1 Ω in normal mode. Ensure the total impedance of the connected speakers is not lower than 1 Ω to avoid damage.
How to use Linkmode to couple two amplifiers?
In Linkmode, a master amplifier controls a slave amplifier. Set the MASTER/SLAVE switch on the master to 'OUTPUT MASTER' and on the slave to 'INPUT SLAVE'. The speaker impedance must not be lower than 2 Ω in Linkmode.
What to do if the amplifier does not power on?
First check for 12V on the +12V terminal and on the Remote terminal (at least 12V). Check the ground connection and the fuse condition. If the protection LED is on, check the speaker cables for a short circuit.
Why is the protection LED on?
The protection LED lights up in case of overload, short circuit, or excessive temperature. Disconnect the speakers and turn the amplifier back on. If the LED turns off, the issue is with the speakers or wiring. If it stays on, the amplifier may be defective.
How to adjust the input sensitivity (Input Level)?
Turn the Input Level control fully left (MIN). Set the head unit volume to 2/3 of maximum. Gradually increase the Input Level until you get a pleasant sound without distortion. Note: a CD has higher dynamics than FM radio.
What to do in case of overheating?
The amplifier will automatically shut off if it overheats. Check that the speaker impedance is correct and there is no short circuit. Ensure the amplifier has good air circulation. Allow it to cool before turning it back on.
How to eliminate a whining or engine noise in the speakers?
Disconnect the RCA cables from the amplifier. If the noise disappears, the issue is with the RCA cables or the head unit. Also check the ground connection and the absence of a ground loop. Use quality RCA cables and keep them away from power cables.
What is the maximum power in Linkmode?
In Linkmode with two amplifiers, the maximum power reaches 1 x 18000 W at 2 Ω with 10% distortion.
What power cables are recommended?
Use power cables with a minimum cross-section of 2x50 mm² for power and ground. For speakers, a cable of at least 6 mm² is recommended. The fuse holder must be installed within 20 cm of the battery.

WARNING

High powered audio systems in a vehicle are capable of generating "Live Concert" high level of sound pressure. Continued exposure to excessively high volume sound levels may cause hearing loss or damage. Also, operation of a motor vehicle while listening to audio equipment at high volume levels may impair your ability to hear external sound such as; horns, warning signals, or emergency vehicles, thus constituting to a potential traffic hazard. For safety reasons we recommends listening at lower volume levels while driving.

Planning your system

Before installation, consider the following notes:

a) Select a suitable location that is convenient for mounting, is accessible for wiring and has enough room for air circulation and cooling.
b) If your radio is equipped with preamplifier outputs (RCA), it is advisable to use them.
