Frequently Asked Questions - BGL452101 BOSCH

How to change the vacuum bag?
Open the cover by operating the closing lever. Close the bag by pulling the tab, then remove it. Insert a new bag into the holder and close the cover. The cover only closes if a bag is in place.
How to clean the motor protection filter?
Open the cover, remove the motor protection filter. Clean it by tapping it or, if heavily soiled, rinse it with water. Let it dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
What to do if the bag change indicator lights up?
If the indicator is brightly and evenly lit with the brush lifted off the carpet and power at maximum, replace the bag even if it is not full. Also check that the brush, tube, and hose are not clogged.
Can I vacuum liquids with this vacuum?
No, this vacuum is designed only for dry vacuuming. Never vacuum wet or liquid substances; this would damage the appliance and poses a risk of electric shock.
How often to change the exhaust air filter?
The exhaust air filter (hygienic micro-filter or HEPA) should be changed once a year. For allergy sufferers, the HEPA filter is recommended.
How to adjust the suction power?
Use the sliding regulator on the appliance. The minimum range is for delicate fabrics (curtains), the maximum range for stubborn dirt. Adjust continuously as needed.
How to use the parking position?
During a break, turn off the appliance. Slide the hook of the floor brush into the recess at the rear of the appliance to hold it in an upright position.
How to store the vacuum after use?
First unplug the appliance. Briefly pull the cord to retract it automatically. Place the appliance upright and slide the hook of the brush into the recess under the appliance for storage.
Can I use non-original bags or filters?
It is recommended to use only genuine Bosch accessories (type GXXL bags, HEPA filters BBZ8SF1, etc.) to ensure optimal performance and avoid damaging the appliance.
What to do if the vacuum does not work?
First check the outlet and fuse (minimum 16 A). If the circuit breaker trips, set the power to minimum before restarting. If the problem persists, contact an authorized BSH after-sales service.

Changing the dust bag and filters

Replacing the dust bag

Figure 17

If the dust bag change indicator lights up brightly and evenly when the floor tool is lifted from the carpet and the highest suction power is selected, the dust bag must be changed, even though it may not yet be full. In this case it is essential to change the dust bag due to the type of material it contains.

First check that the nozzle, suction pipe and flexible hose are not blocked, as this would also lead to the dust bag change indicator being triggered.

Figure 18

Open the lid by moving the locking lever in the direction of the arrow.

Figure 19

a) Seal the dust bag by pulling the sealing strip and then remove it.
b) Insert a new dust bag into the holder and close the dust bag compartment lid.

Caution: the lid will only close when the dust bag is inserted.

Cleaning the motor protection filter

The motor protection filter should be cleaned regularly by knocking out the dirt and rinsing.

Figure 20\*

■ Open the dust bag compartment lid (see Figure 18).
■ Pull out the motor protection filter in the direction of the arrow.
■ Clean the motor protection filter by tapping it.
■ If it is very dirty, the motor protection filter should be rinsed.
The filter must then be left to dry for at least 24 hours.
■ After cleaning, slide the motor protection filter into the vacuum cleaner and close the dust bag compartment lid.

Cleaning the foam filter

If your appliance is fitted with a filter frame and foam filter, the foam filter should be cleaned at regular intervals by tapping out the dust or rinsing the filter.

Figure 21\*

■ Open the dust bag compartment lid (see Fig. 18).
■ Pull out the filter frame and foam filter in the direction of the arrow.
■ Remove the foam filter from the filter frame and clean it by tapping out the dust.
■ If the foam filter is very dirty, it should be rinsed. After rinsing it, allow the foam filter to dry for at least 24 hours.
■ After cleaning, place the foam filter back in the filter frame, insert the filter frame with foam filter in the appliance and close the dust bag compartment lid.

Caution: The vacuum cleaner must not be operated without the motor protection filter.

Replacing the HEPA filter (motor protection filter)

If your vacuum cleaner is equipped with a HEPA filter, this should be replaced once a year.

Figure

BOSCH BGL452101 - Figure - 1

■ Open the dust bag compartment lid.
■ Pull out the HEPA filter in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the appliance.
■ Insert the new HEPA filter and close the dust bag compartment lid.

BOSCH BGL452101 - Figure - 1

■ Open the dust bag compartment lid (see Figure 18).
■ Release the filter holder by pressing the locking tab in the direction of the arrow
■ Remove the foam filter and micro-hygiene filter. Insert the new micro-hygiene filter and foam filter into the filter holder.
- Insert the filter holder into the vacuum cleaner and clip into place.

Replacing the HEPA filter

You can order a new filter from our after-sales service using the following replacement part number: 574 020

■ Open the dust bag compartment lid (see Figure 18).
■ Release the HEPA filter by pressing the locking tab in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the vacuum cleaner (see Figure 23).
