Frequently Asked Questions - VP6156 SMK-Link

How do I connect the VP6156 mouse to my computer?
Make sure your computer's Bluetooth module is turned on. Turn on the mouse by sliding the power switch to the ON position. Press the connection button under the mouse until the red sensor lights up and the scroll wheel blinks blue. Launch your system's Bluetooth assistant (Windows or Mac) and select SMK-Link Bluetooth Mouse from the list of devices. Follow the on-screen instructions. No password is required.
What should I do if the mouse does not connect or the connection drops frequently?
First, check that the mouse is within 10 meters (33 feet) of the computer. Make sure the batteries are properly inserted and sufficiently charged. Verify that the power switch is in the ON position. If the connection is still unstable, contact the computer manufacturer's technical support or check for Bluetooth protocol stack updates on the manufacturer's website.
Why does the mouse cursor move on its own?
Make sure the mouse is within range (10 meters). If it is within range and the problem persists, replace the batteries with two new AAA batteries. Low battery level can cause erratic cursor behavior.
How can I save the mouse batteries?
The mouse automatically enters sleep mode after 8 minutes of inactivity. To save more, turn off the mouse by sliding the power switch to the OFF position when not using it for an extended period. If you do not plan to use it for a while, remove the batteries from the compartment.
What batteries should I use?
Use two AAA alkaline batteries. Make sure to observe the polarity (+/-) indicated in the battery compartment.
Does the mouse work with Mac OS?
Yes, the VP6156 model is compatible with Mac OS 10.4.6 and later. Use the built-in Bluetooth assistant or Apple's Bluetooth software to set up the mouse.
What should I do if the mouse stops responding?
Check the power switch under the mouse. If the mouse is on, replace the batteries. If it still does not respond, reset the Bluetooth connection by removing the device from your computer and then reconnecting it.
How do I clean the mouse?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use liquids, abrasive cleaners, or solvents, as they may damage the mouse.
What is the maximum range of the mouse?
The Bluetooth connection range is approximately 10 meters (33 feet) in open space. Obstacles (walls, furniture) may reduce this range.
Is the mouse compatible with Windows 10?
The manual indicates compatibility with Windows XP, Vista, and 7 (32 and 64-bit). Windows 10 is not explicitly mentioned, but the mouse may work via generic Bluetooth support. If you encounter issues, check your computer's Bluetooth drivers.

Operating Tips & Troubleshoot

  • Check the on/off switch located at the bottom of the mouse to make sure the mouse is powered on before using it.
  • Conserve the battery power by switching the on/off switch to "off" position while traveling or if the mouse will not be in use for awhile. If you will not use the mouse for a long period of time remove the batteries from the battery compartment.
  • During operation the mouse will go into sleep mode after 8 minutes of inactivity to save battery power. Move the mouse or click on any mouse button to wake it up.
  • If the mouse cursor behaves erratically, first check if the operating range is within 33-ft (10 meters). If it's within range and the normal cursor movement is not resumed, replace with a fresh set of 2 AAA batteries.
  • The mouse stays connected to your Bluetooth-enabled computer even when it's turned off and out of range once it's set up. If for any reason the connection to the system is lost, first check if the Bluetooth mouse icon is still displayed in My Bluetooth Places and verify that the Bluetooth computer is within the range (up to 30 feet). If the connection is lost it can be fixed by following the instructions in the Setting up Bluetooth Connection section above to reconnect the devices.
  • If the connection is frequently lost under normal operation, contact your system vendor's technical support or check for Bluetooth stack update on your system vendor's website.
