supply The appliance is operated with electrical power whichmeans there is in principle a risk of electric shock.Therefore pay particular attention to the following:- Never touch the plug with wet hands.- If you want to pull the plug out of the socket thenalways pull directly on the plug. Never pull on thecable as this could damage it.- Make sure that the power cable is not bent, caught orrun over, and that it does not come into contact withheat sources.- Only use an extension cable that is designed for thepower requirement of the appliance.- Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquidsand keep it away from rain and moisture.- Only operate the appliance if the electrical voltagestated on the type plate matches the voltage of yoursocket. 1.3 Regarding children
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8
years and above and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge if they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way
and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not
play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance
shall not be made by children without supervision.
Children must not be allowed to stand or sit on the

children aged from 8 years and above do not operate the
device as they definitely cannot understand all specific
dangers arising from it. Keep the appliance out of reach of
people of these groups.
Packaging material must not be used to play with. There
is a danger of suffocation.
1.4 Regarding intended
The cylinder vacuum cleaner is intended for home use only.
It is not suitable for commercial use.
Only use the cylinder vacuum cleaner for cleaning normally
dirty floors, carpets and curtains. Any other use is
considered non-intended use and is prohibited.
The following is prohibited in particular:
- People, animals, plants, especially hair, fingers and
other parts of the body as well as pieces of clothing
worn on the body. They could be pulled in and cause
- pieces of clothing (e. g. shoelaces, scarves, etc.).
They could be pulled right in and cause injuries.
- water and other fluids, especially damp carpet
cleaning agents. Internal dampness can lead to a
- toner dust (for laser printers, copy machines, etc.).
There is a risk of fire and explosion.
- hot ash, burning cigarettes or matches. These can
- pointed objects such as glass fragments, nails, etc.
Otherwise, the appliance might be damaged.

with a defective cable. If the mains cable of this appliance
is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturers, their
authorised service representative or a similarly qualified
person to avoid danger to the user.
Bring or send defective appliances to a specialist dealer
or to Royal Appliance Customer Services for repair.

2 Unpacking and assembly
GB 2 Unpacking and assembly 2.1 Unpacking 1. Unpack the appliance and all accessory parts. 2. Check the contents are all there. Information regarding the scope of delivery ZPage 20, "An overview of your Fello & Friend Bag". 2.2 Assembly 1. Push the end of the suction hose (Fig. 2/1) into thereceiver opening (Fig. 2/2) on the cylinder vacuumcleaner until the lock clicks into place audibly andnoticeably. 2. Push the handle (Fig. 3/1) into the upper end of thetelescopic tube (Fig. 3/2).3. Push the floor nozzle (Fig. 3/3) onto the lower end of thetelescopic tube (Fig. 3/4).4. Adjust the length of the telescopic tube. To do this,press the telescopic tube lock (Fig. 4/1) down. Then pullthe telescopic tube by the handle (Fig. 3/1) to thedesired length. To lock it, release the telescopic tubelock when you let go. You will hear an audible click.5. Push the accessories mount (Fig. 5/1) onto the handle(Fig. 5/2). Then push the furniture brush (Fig. 5/3) andcrevice nozzle (Fig. 5/4) on to the holders for these.Your cylinder vacuum cleaner is now ready to use.ATTENTION:Always transport/send the appliance in its originalpackaging so that it does not become damaged. Keepthe packing material for this purpose. Dispose of anypacking material that is no longer required in accordancewith the provisions applicable in your country. NOTE: If you should notice damage due to transport, thencontact your dealer immediately.WARNING:Only assemble the appliance if the plug has been pulledout of the socket. The appliance could be switched on byaccident. NOTE: It may be necessary to push a bit harder. NOTE: If necessary, you can also attach the accessories mountto the telescopic tube. Fig. 2
2 Unpacking and assembly
2.3 Using other nozzles
(accessories) Together with the floor nozzle just assembled, you canexpand the range of functions of your cylinder vacuumcleaner with other nozzles. The crevice nozzle and the furniture brush are includedas accessories in the scope of delivery. They can besecured to the accessories mount (Fig. 5) when not in use.- Crevice nozzle (Fig. 6/1)Use this to vacuum dust from hard to reach places.- Furniture brush (Fig. 6/2) Use this to vacuum dust off objects that havesensitive surfaces (e. g. cupboards, tables). Optionally available (i.e. included in the scope ofdelivery depending on model and features) are also:- Turbo brush (Fig. 7/1)is used to vacuum non-sensitive carpets, runners,mats, and the like.- Parquet brush (Fig. 7/2)Its long bristles make it especially suitable forcleaning delicate surfaces (e.g. parquet and laminatefloors).- Mini turbo brush (Fig. 8/1)is used to vacuum non-sensitive upholstery, runners,mats, and the like.- "Fello" pet hair turbo brush (Fig. 8/2)is used to vacuum non-sensitive upholstery, runners,mats, and the like.ATTENTION:Our (mini) turbo brush can only be used to vacuum surfaces that are not sensitive. Do not clean any floors or objects with the (mini) turbo brush that you would notclean without a second thought with a conventionalbrush. Therefore, do not clean sensitive or polished floorsurfaces with the (mini) turbo brush. Nor should youclean furniture, sensitive carpets, upholstery, covers, orany material with a sensitive texture with the (mini) turbobrush. Otherwise material damage might occur. If indoubt, refrain from using the (mini) turbo brush. In everyinstance observe the instructions for care and cleaning ofthe respective manufacturer. Fig. 6
GB Proceed as follows to attach the nozzles:1. Switch off the vacuum cleaner and pull the plug from themains socket.2. Pull the attached nozzle off of the telescopic tube.3. Attach the desired nozzle to the bottom end of thetelescopic tube (Fig. 9/1) or if necessary directly to thehandle (Fig. 9/2). 4. If possible, store nozzles no longer in use on theaccessory bracket. Keep the other nozzles safe andinaccessible to children.3Operating 3.1 Vacuuming
. WARNING:Only attach the nozzles if the appliance if it is notconnected to the power supply. Otherwise, the appliancecould be switched on by accident. NOTE: If you want to use the "Fello" pet hair turbo brush, youmust first attach the supplied adapter (Fig. 10/*) to thetelescopic tube (Fig. 10/1). This is described in detail inthe instruction sheet for the "Fello" pet hair turbo brush.ATTENTION:Using the vacuum cleaner without a nozzle attachedincreases the danger of accidentally sucking in objects. Fig. 9
WARNING:Check the cylinder vacuum cleaner and the power cablebefore each use. A damaged appliance must never beused. There is a risk of injury.ATTENTION:Only use the cylinder vacuum cleaner if all the filters areintact, dry and inserted correctly. Make sure that none ofthe openings are blocked. Otherwise, the vacuumcleaner can become damaged. NOTE: Your cylinder vacuum cleaner has an overheatingprotection device. It turns off automatically if it overheats.If this happens, then turn off the cylinder vacuum cleanerand remove the plug. Remove the cause of overheating.Wait approx. 45 minutes. Once the cylinder vacuumcleaner has cooled down you can switch it on again.28

or ZChapter 2.3, "Using other nozzles (accessories)". 2. Remove the cable, by holding the plug, until the yellowmark is reached (Fig. 11/1).3. Switch on the cylinder vacuum cleaner using the on/offswitch (Fig. 12/3).4. Turn on the suction using the suction controller(Fig. 12/2).5. Adjust the carpet/hard floor switch (Fig. 13) dependingon the type of flooring:- Hard floor (Fig. 13/A)Laminate flooring, tiles, PVC flooring, etc.- Carpet (Fig. 13/B)Long and short pile carpets, runners, etc.6. To vacuum, pull the cylinder vacuum cleaner behindyou like a sledge. Observe the correspondingrecommendations of the flooring manufacturer. WARNING: If the red mark (Fig. 11/2) is visible, use the cable retractbutton (Fig. 12/3) to draw the cable in again up to theyellow mark. Otherwise the cable can break off. There isa risk of electric shock.
You can quickly reduce the suction power with thesecondary air controller (Fig. 14/1) if less suction poweris required or e. g. to release objects that have beensucked in. Fig. 11
3.2 Switching off and
retracting the power
cable 1. Switch off the cylinder vacuum cleaner using the on/offswitch (Fig. 15/1) and pull the plug out of the socket.2. Keep the plug in your hand.3. Press the cable retract button (Fig. 15/2) to pull in thepower cable. 3.3 Transporting and
To transport the cylinder vacuum cleaner, you can carry it using the carry handle (Fig. 1/11). When setting the appliance aside or during work breaks, you can hang the parking hook (Fig. 16/1) into theparking hook mount (Fig. 16/2). For storage, you can hang the stow-away hook (Fig. 17/1) into the stow-away hook mount (Fig. 17/2) belowon the cylinder vacuum cleaner. If you want to store the appliance for a longer period oftime, remove the dust filter bag and dispose of it correctly.Clean the filters as well. Always store the appliance in a cool and dry place.WARNING:The power cable can whip around when being pulled in,it can also trip you or somebody else up or knock downobjects. Fig. 15
WARNING:If you leave your work area, switch off the appliance and observe the instructions under ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting the power cable".ATTENTION:Never position the appliance directly against heatsources (e. g. heating, oven). Avoid direct sunlight. Heatcan damage the appliance. Fig. 16
filter bag Change the dust filter bag at the latest when the dustbag change indicator (Fig. 181/) shows "red" or when thesuction power drops. 1. Open the dust compartment cover by unlatching andthen lifting it (Fig. 18).2. Lift the dust compartment cover until it locks in thehighest position and stays open by itself.3. Pull the dust bag holder together with the dust filter bag(Fig. 19/1) up and out (Fig. 19).4. Remove any dust that may have collected in the dustcompartment.5. Take this opportunity to check the motor protection filter as well (ZChapter 4.3, "Cleaning / changing the motor protection filter").6. Pull the dust filter bag (Fig. 20/1) out of the dust bagholder (Fig. 20/2).7. Push the new dust filter bag (Fig. 21/1) into the dust bagholder (Fig. 21/2) as shown, so that it rests against thebottom mounting brackets (Fig. 21/3) of the dust bagholder.8. Then reinsert the dust bag holder (Fig. 22/1) into the dustchamber by pushing the guide of the dust bag holder(Fig. 22/2) straight into the retaining rails until theinterlock for the dust compartment cover (Fig. 22/3) isfolded back.9. Close the dust compartment cover. It clicks shutaudibly. ATTENTION: When leaving your working-area, switch off the appliance and mind the notices at ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting the power cable". In this way you avoid dustdestroying the appliance.
You can dispose of the dust filter bag with your regulardomestic trash if it contains no prohibited wastematerials.
The dust compartment cover can only be closed with adust filter bag in place. Fig. 18
4.2 Overview of the filters Your vacuum cleaner is equipped with the following 2 filters: Motor protection filter (Fig. 23/1) It prevents larger particles from destroying the motor incase the dust filter bag is defective.- Cleaning: at every filter bag change, but at least every3 months- Changing: Every time you open a new box of dustfilter bags, as these always contain a new motorprotection filter, but at least every 6 months(ZChapter 4.3, "Cleaning / changing the motorprotection filter") Hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 23/2) Filters out very fine particles from the exhaust air stream.- Cleaning: at every filter bag change, but at least every6 months- Changing: only if it is very dirty or damaged(ZChapter 4.4, "Cleaning / changing the exhaustfilter") 4.3 Cleaning / changing
the motor protection
filter 1. Switch off the appliance and remove the dust filter bag as described under ZChapter 4.1, "Changing the dust filter bag", steps 1-4.2. Remove the filter holder with the motor protection filter(Fig. 24).3. Remove the motor protection filter (Fig. 25/1) from thefilter holder (Fig. 25/2) over a dustbin.4. Rinse filter holder and filter thoroughly by hand in clearrunning cold or hand-warm water. 5. If the motor protection filter is damaged or deformed, replace it with a new one (ZChapter 6.1, "Accessories and Spare Parts"). 6. Insert the cleaned or new motor protection filter into the filter holder. 7. Firmly push the freshly equipped filter holder, correctlypositioned, from above into into its receptacle (Fig. 26). 8. Insert a fresh dust filter bag and close the dustcompartment cover. The cover snaps shut. Fig. 23
ATTENTION:The motor protection filter is washable, but it may not becleaned in dishwashers or washing-machines. Do notuse chemical cleansers to clean the filter. Then leave themotor protection filter to dry (approx. 24 hours at roomtemperature). Only put it back into the appliance when itis completely dry. Fig. 24
4.4 Cleaning / changing
the exhaust filter 1. Switch the appliance off and observe the instructionsunder ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting thepower cable".2. Open the hygienic exhaust filter cover (Fig. 27/1). To dothis, press the release button (Fig. 27/2) down and pullthe hygienic exhaust filter cover back and out.3. Remove the hygienic exhaust filter (Fig. 28). 4. Tap the dirt out of the hygienic exhaust filter over adustbin for a rough cleaning.5. Should this be insufficient, remove the dirt from the filterwith a soft brush, e.g. the furniture brush supplied withthe appliance.6. If such dry cleaning is insufficient, thoroughly rinse thefilter by hand in running clear cold or hand-warm water. 7. If the filter is damaged or deformed, replace it (orderinginformation ZChapter 6.1, "Accessories and SpareParts").8. Put the new / cleaned and completely dry exhaust filterback into its receptacle (Fig. 29). 9. Then put the hygienic exhaust filter cover (Fig. 30/1)back into place. First hook this in on the bottom side andthen press it up and forwards until you hear and feel itclick shut. 4.5 Cleaning the housing
ATTENTION: The filter is washable, but it may not be cleaned indishwashers or washing-machines. Also, do not usedetergents or brushes with hard bristles to clean thefilters. Let the filter dry for approx 24 hours at roomtemperature after washing it. Only put it back in placewhen it is completely dry. Fig. 27
ATTENTION: Clean the outside of the housing using a slightly dampcloth only. Do not use cleansing or scouring agents oralcohol, as these might damage the appliance.33
GB 5 Troubleshooting Before sending the appliance to Royal
Appliance Customer Service, use the following table to check
if you can solve the problem yourself.
Never use a defective appliance! Always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains
before starting troubleshooting ZChapter 3.2, "Switching off and retracting the power cable".

The power cord is not plugged
Insert the plug into a mains socket and switch
on the appliance, ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming".
The socket does not carry
Test the cylinder vacuum cleaner on another
socket that you are sure is carrying current.
Power cord is damaged. Have the cord replaced by the Royal Appliance
Customer Service, address ZPage 116,
"International Service".
The overheating protection
has tripped (possibly due to
blocked suction channels,
filters, or similar)
Switch the appliance off and pull the plug out of
the socket. Eliminate the cause of overheating
(e.g. blocked suction channels, filters, etc.).
Wait for about 45 minutes. After the appliance
has cooled off, you may switch it on again.
The bypass vent (Fig. 1/2) is
Close the bypass vent (Fig. 1/2).
The dust container is full. Change the dust filter bag ZChapter 4.1,
"Changing the dust filter bag".
Nozzle, telescopic tube or
suction hose are blocked.
Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a long
wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do this.
The power setting does not
Set the power to the setting suggested for the
flooring, ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming", step 5.
The "carpet/hard floor"
selector (Fig. 1/20) is in the
wrong position for the
particular type of floor.
Set the "carpet/hard floor" selector (Fig. 1/20)
to the correct position for the type of floor,
ZChapter 3.1, "Vacuuming", step 6.
The attached nozzle does not
Fit the correct nozzle, ZChapter 2.3, "Using
other nozzles (accessories)".
The filter is dirty. Change/clean the respective filter, ZChapter
4.3, "Cleaning / changing the motor protection
filter" or ZChapter 4.4, "Cleaning / changing
Sucked-in objects are
obstructing the air stream.
Remove the objects. If necessary, use a long
wooden stick (e.g. a broomstick) to do this.
If you cannot solve the problem following these instructions, contact our service hotline or the

GB 7 Warranty 7.1 Warranty conditions
We offer a warranty of 24 months from the date of purchase for the appliances we sell.
Within this warranty period, we will remove all defects free of charge that are due to material or
manufacturing faults, either by repair work or replacing the appliance or accessories, at our
discretion (damage to accessory parts does not automatically lead to the entire appliance being
replaced). The warranty does not cover damage due to improper use (operating with the wrong
power type/voltage, connecting to unsuitable power sources, breakage, etc.), normal wear and
defects that only insignificantly affect the value or the ability of the appliance to be used.
The warranty is made null and void if any work is carried out by a site not authorized by us or if spare
parts other than Royal Appliance spare parts are used. Wear parts are not included in the warranty
and are therefore at the customer's expense!
The warranty only comes into force if the purchase date is confirmed by a stamp and signature of
the dealer on the warranty card or if a copy of the invoice is included with the appliance when it is
sent in. Warranty work does not extend the warranty time nor does it constitute a claim for a new
