USER MANUAL TE.DKP11 Bimar
Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and instruct other persons using it, too, when necessary. Keep booklet handy for further use.
- This appliance is designed exclusively for cooking foods in a domestic environment (not for professional use), and according to the ways indicated in these instructions. Be extremely careful, as oil or fat preparations might catch fire when overheated.
- This appliance must only be used at home for cooking.
- If the appliance falls, remove the plug from the power socket and check that no parts are damaged (for example cooking plate); if in doubt, contact professionally qualified personnel.
- Do not cover the appliance when it is operating to avoid the risk of fires.
- When the appliance is operating, it becomes hot. Therefore only touch the knobs.
- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or feet.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- The appliance must be kept out of children's reach.
- Attention: when using electric appliances, the basic safety precautions must always be observed to avoid risks of fire, electric shocks and physical injury.
- Do not expose the appliance to the weather (sun, rain, etc.), if it becomes inadvertently wet, disconnect the electrical cord immediately.
- Never move the appliance by pulling the cord.
The user must not leave the appliance unattended while it is connected to the supply. - If the electric cord is damaged, it has to be replaced by the supplier or an authorized service center or a professionally qualified person, to avoid any risks.
- Do not pull on the power cord or the appliance to unplug the appliance from the electric socket.

INSTALLATION
After removing the packing materials, check the integrity of the appliance; if you are unsure, do not use it and ask for qualified professional help. The packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children because they are potential sources of danger; but dispose of them according to current regulations, in dedicated containers for differentiated collection.
- Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage shown on the data plate matches that of your electricity (230V 50Hz) and that the electric plug is grounded. In the event of incompatibility between the electric outlet and the plug of the heater, have the outlet replaced with another more suitable type by professionally qualified personnel, who will make sure that the section of the wires of the outlet is appropriate for the absorbed power of the heater. In general, the use of adapters or extension cords is not recommended; if their use is indispensable, they must conform to existing safety standards and their current capacity (amperes) must not be less than the maximum of the heater.
Before each use, verify that the appliance is in good condition and that the electrical cord is not damaged: in the case of doubt, ask for professionally qualified help.
- Make sure that the cable is correctly positioned, that it is not touching hot elements or sharp edges, is not wound around the utensil, is not twisted up on itself or in the way to prevent the utensil from being pulled over.
- Locate the appliance far from sources of heat, inflammable materials (curtains, tapestrics, etc.), inflammable gas, explosive materials (gas cylinders, etc.) and from materials that could deform with the heat. Make sure that there is at least 40cm of free space around the appliance.
The power socket must be easy to reach so the plug can be removed quickly in case of emergency.
Use the appliance far from water or similar (like sinks and so on) or from places where it can be knocked over.
- Do not use the appliance with a timer or a programmer or with a system that can switch on the appliance automatically, to avoid risk of fire, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly.
- In the case of a breakdown or fault, switch off the appliance and have it checked by a professionally qualified technician; repairs made by unqualified persons can be dangerous and render void the warranty.
First use
Put a pot filled with water on the stove and let the appliance run for 10 min., in order to eliminate the protection varnish on the plate.
It is always necessary to put a pot or a saucepan on the stove: it must never run "empty".
OPERATION (single cooking plate mod. TE.EKP11)
Insert the plug into the current socket.
The thermostat knob regulates the temperature of the cooking plate; turn the knob according to the desired temperature: the cooking plate switches on (the pilot light comes on as well) and as soon as the temperature is reached, the pilot light goes out.
Always use flat-bottomed saucepans, which make good contact with the cooking plates. The saucepan bases should ideally be of the same size as the cooking plates.
When you are finished cooking, turn temperature dial to "MIN", unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
OPERATION (double cooking plate mod. TE.DKP11)
The cooking plates can be used separately (only small cooking plate or large cooking plate) or at the same time.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Attention: before cleaning the appliance, turn it off, remove the plug from the outlet and wait for it to cool.
- To clean cooking plate use a damp cloth, lightly wet with soft hot water; it is possible to use a dish soap. Be very careful when you clean the control panel and avoid wetting it or the heating element. If it should happen, dry very well. Never dip the control panel in water or in any other liquid.
- Do not wash it under running water, submerge it in water, or place it in a dishwasher. Before using the appliance, make sure that it is perfectly dry, especially the contacts.
- To replace the electrical cord a special tool is required: contact an authorised assistance centre for eventual repairs.
- If you decide to no longer use the utensil, we recommend making it inoperative by cutting off the power supply cord (after first making sure that the plug is removed from the mains socket) and make any parts possibly used as toys harmless.
