Frequently Asked Questions - ICR515 Applica

How do I fill the water tank of the ICR515 iron?
Open the water tank cover, tilt the iron and pour water using a measuring cup up to the MAX mark. Do not overfill. Close the cover. Use tap water, not softened water.
How do I use the steam burst?
Fill the tank to MAX, set the fabric selector between 4 and 6. Pump the steam button at intervals of 5 seconds. The steam stops automatically below setting 3.
How does the automatic shut-off work?
The iron turns off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity if lying on the soleplate or side, and after 8 minutes if upright on the heel. Five beeps sound and the light flashes.
What should I do if the iron does not heat up?
Check that the iron is plugged in and the fabric selector is not set to 0. If the green light does not come on, wait 90 seconds. If the problem persists, contact customer service at 1-800-231-9786.
How do I clean the soleplate?
Unplug the iron and let it cool. Wipe the soleplate with a soft damp cloth. Add mild detergent if necessary. Then iron over an old cloth to remove residues from the vents.
How do I use the AUTO CLEAN self-cleaning system?
Fill the tank below MAX. Plug in, set the selector to 6, place the iron on the heel. Then set to 0, unplug, hold the iron over a sink soleplate down, and press and hold the AUTO CLEAN button until the iron is empty. Let dry for 2 minutes.
Why does water drip from the soleplate?
This is normal if the iron has not reached the proper temperature. The anti-drip system prevents leaks at low temperature. Make sure the tank is not too full and the selector is set correctly.
How do I store the iron?
Unplug and let it cool. Check that the selector is set to 0. Press the cord rewind button to wind the cord. Store the iron vertically on its heel to avoid leaks.
What is the warranty for the ICR515 iron?
The iron has a one-year limited warranty (USA and Canada) against defects in workmanship or materials. Keep the sales receipt. Contact 1-800-231-9786 or visit www.prodprotect.com/applica.
How do I contact customer service?
For USA/Canada, dial 1-800-231-9786 for general assistance, or 1-800-738-0245 for parts and accessories. For Mexico, dial 01-800-714-2503.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using your iron, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

Read all instructions before using.
Use iron only for its intended use.
To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquid.
The iron should always be turned off (refer to "How to Use" section) before plugging into or unplugging from an outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet; instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Let iron cool completely before putting away. Loop cord loosely around iron when storing.
Always disconnect iron from electrical outlet when filling with or emptying of water and when not in use.
- Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the iron, take it to a qualified serviceman for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock when the iron is used.
- Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Do not leave iron unattended while connected or on an ironing board.
Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron upside down or use the surge of steam - there may be hot water in the water tank. Avoid rapid movement of iron to minimize hot water spillage.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere and 120-volt, or 7-ampere and 220-volt cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only)

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or in Latin America by an authorized service center.
