SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

  • Usage, maintenance and installation of the product: for your safety, please refer to the respective section of these instructions or to the corresponding diagrams.
  • Read these instructions for use carefully before using your appliance for the first time and keep them to hand for future reference.
  • This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. In case of professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. Use indoor only.
  • It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:

  • staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    -farm houses;

  • by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
  • bed and breakfast type environments.

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance

and use the appliance as a toy.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  • Do not immerse the appliance in water.

  • Never leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the power supply, even if for a few moments, especially where children are present.

  • Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.

  • Do not let the power cord hang where children may reach it.

  • Take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.

  • Switch off and disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use.

  • Never disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord.

  • Inspect the appliance and power cord for signs of wear

or damage prior to connecting to the power supply.

  • If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cable or unit available from the manufacturer or its after-sales service.

Do

  • Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach.
  • If the appliance is used in the centre of the table, keep it out of the reach of children.
  • Make sure the appliance is placed on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface before using it.
  • If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
  • Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
    Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking plate (14).

  • In order to avoid deterioration of the plate, use it only as it was designed to be used (for example, do not place it in an oven or on a stove, whether it be gas or electric).

  • Use only the plate provided with the appliance or a plate bought at an authorized Service Centre.
  • Check that the plate is stable and correctly positioned on the base of the appliance.
  • Before first use, wash the plate (see paragraph After Use), pour a small amount of cooking oil on it and wipe off an excess oil with a soft cloth.
  • Be careful where you place the electric power cord, whether you use an extension or not. Take all the necessary precautions in order not to hinder people from moving around the table, so that nobody gets tangled or trips over the cord.

Do not

  • Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use.
  • To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
  • Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea-towel.
  • Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; never leave the cord hanging over a heat source (hotplates, gas stove, etc.).
  • Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.

  • Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
  • To avoid spoiling your product, do not use flambé recipes in connection with it at any time.
  • Do not use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the cooking surface.
  • Do not remove the juice collection tray during cooking.
  • If the juice collection tray gets filled during cooking, let the contents cool before emptying it.

Advice / information

  • For your safety, this appliance conforms to all applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Food Compliant Materials, Environment...).

Using

  • Unwind the cord completely.
  • Fit the removable plate onto the base of the appliance (3). Make sure that it is in the right position; the drainage slots should be at the front, above the juice tray. (4-5).
  • Place the juice collection tray in the cooking position (6-7-8).
  • Set the thermostat to the mini position (9).
  • Attach the power cord to the product, and then plug it in (10-11).

  • On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke.

  • Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with × logo.

  • Set the thermostat to suit the chosen recipe (12).

  • Pre-heat the appliance for about 10 minutes (12-13).
  • The appliance will be ready for use once it is preheated.
  • Thermo-Spot™ The Thermo-Spot turns solid red when the appliance is perfectly preheated and ready to cook (*depending on model) (13).

After use

  • Before unplugging the appliance, set the thermostat on position mini (16).
  • Unplug the power cord, disconnect it from the appliance (17-18) and allow it to cool for 2 hours (19).
  • The base of the appliance must be cleaned with a sponge and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use scouring pads (22).
  • The plate and juice collection tray must be cleaned after each use, either with your usual washing-up liquid (no scouring pad and powder or metallic sponge) (22) or in the dishwasher (24).

  • Do not place the base of the appliance or its cord in the dishwasher (23).

  • If the heating element is really dirty, rub with a dry cloth when cold.
  • Check that the appliance has cooled down completely and that it is unplugged before putting it away.
  • Place the juice tray in the front of the appliance under the plate.
  • Store the appliance and the power cord in a dry place.
