Before setting up the monitor, carefully read all the documentation that came with the package.

Never try to open the monitor cabinet. The dangerous high voltages inside the monitor may result in serious physical injury.

If the power supply is broken, do not try to fix it by yourself. Contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.

Before using the product, make sure all cables are correctly connected and the power cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.

Slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. Do not block these slots. Never place this product near or over a radiator or heat source unless proper ventilation is provided.

The monitor should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company.

Use the appropriate power plug which complies with your local power standard.

Do not overload power strips and extension cords. Overloading can result in fire or electric shock.

Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the monitor in any area where it may become wet. Place the monitor on a stable surface.

Unplug the unit during a lightning storm or if it will not be used for a long period of time. This will protect the monitor from damage due to power surges.

Never push objects or spill liquid of any kind into the slots on the monitor cabinet.

To ensure satisfactory operation, use the monitor only with UL listed computers which have appropriate configured receptacles marked between 100 ~ 240V AC.

The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible

If you encounter technical problems with the monitor, contact a qualified service technician or your retailer.

Provide an earthing connection before the mains plug is connected to the mains. And, when disconnecting the earthing connection, be sure to disconnect after pulling out the mains plug from the mains. WARNING Usage of other than specified head- or earphones can result in hearing loss due to excessive sound pressures. Please confirm the distribution system in building installation shall provide the circuit breaker rated 120/240V, 20A (maximum). If provided with a 3-pin attachment plug on the power cord, plug the cord into a grounded (earthed) 3-pin outlet. Do not disable the power cord grounding pin, for example, by attaching a 2-pin adapter. The grounding pin is an important safety feature.

Before you lift or reposition your monitor, it is better to disconnect the cables and power cord. Follow the correct lifting techniques when positioning the monitor. When lifting or carrying the monitor, grasp the edges of the monitor. Do not lift the display by the stand or the cord.

Cleaning. Turn your monitor off and unplug the power cord. Clean the monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth dampened with mild cleaner.

Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended for use with the LCD. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip inside the monitor and cause an electric shock. The following symptoms are normal with the monitor:

The screen may flicker during the initial use due to the nature of the fluorescent light. Turn off the Power Switch and turn it on again to make sure that the flicker disappears.

You may find slightly uneven brightness on the screen depending on the desktop pattern you use.

When the same image is displayed for hours, an afterimage of the previous screen may remain after switching the image. The screen will recover slowly or you can turn off the Power Switch for hours.

When the screen becomes black or flashes, or cannot work anymore, contact your dealer or service center to fix it. Do not repair the screen by yourself! Conventions used in this guide

Assembling the monitor To assemble the monitor:

While assembling the monitor arm/base, we recommend that you keep the monitor inside its EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) packaging.

Align the screw hole on the arm with the bundled screw on the base. Then insert the base into the arm.

Fix the base to the arm by fastening the bundled screw.

Using the Controls button Use the control button on the bottom of the monitor to adjust the image settings.

Press this button to turn the monitor on/off.

Press this hotkey to switch from eight video preset modes (Scenery Mode, Racing Mode, Cinema Mode, RTS/RPG Mode, FPS Mode, sRGB Mode, MOBA Mode and User Mode) with GameVisual™ Video Intelligence Technology.

GamePlus: The GamePlus Function provides a toolkit and creates a better gaming environment for users when playing different types of games. Particularly, Crosshair function is specially designed for new gamers or beginners interested in First Person Shooter (FPS) games. To active GamePlus:

Activate Crosshair, Timer or FPS Counter or Display Alignment function.

Move the ( ) button up/down to select and press confirm the function needed. Press to go off, and exit.

Adjusting the monitor

For optimal viewing, we recommend that you look at the full face of the monitor, then adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you.

Hold the stand to prevent the monitor from falling when you change its angle.

You can adjust the monitor’s angle from +20˚ to -5˚ and it allows 62˚ swivel adjustment from either left or right. You can also adjust the monitor’s height within 15cm. -5 ~ 20 15° ASUS LCD Monitor Series 15° 2-1

Detaching the arm/stand (for VESA wall mount) The detachable stand of this monitor is specially designed for VESA wall mount. To detach the arm/stand 2-2

Disconnect power and signal cables. Carefully put the monitor facedown on its EPS packaging.

Remove the screws covers.

Remove the four (4) screws securing the arm to the rear of the monitor.

Detach the stand (arm and base) from the monitor.

Press the and buttons to toggle between options in the Menu. As you move from one icon to another, the option name is highlighted.

Press the and buttons to select the desired parameter.

Press the Center key to enter the slide bar and then use the or buttons, according to the indicators on the menu, to make your changes.

OverDrive: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.

AMD FreeSync: It can allow a FreeSync supported graphics source to dynamically adjust display refresh rate based on typical content frame rates for power efficient, virtually stutter free and low-latency display update.

GamePlus: Activate Crosshair, Timer or FPS Counter or Display Alignment function.

GameVisual: This function contains seven sub-functions that you can select for your preference.

Shadow Boost:Dark color enhancement adjust monitor gamma curve to enrich the dark tones in an image making dark scenes and objects much easier be found.

In the Racing Mode, the Saturation, and ASCR functions are not userconfigurable.

In the sRGB Mode, the Saturation, Skin Tone, Color Temp., Brightness, Contrast and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.

In the MOBA Mode, the Saturation and ASCR functions are not userconfigurable

Brightness: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.

Contrast: The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.

HDR: High Dynamic Range. Contains three HDR modes (ASUS Cinema HDR and ASUS Gaming HDR, Console Mode).

VividPixel: ASUS Exclusive Technology that brings lifelike visuals for crystal-clear and detail-oriented enjoyment. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100.

Aspect Control: Adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full” and 4:3, 16:9 (24”W) and 16:9 (27”W).

Blue Light Filter: Adjust the energy level of blue light emitted from LED backlight. ASUS LCD Monitor VG289Q1A Series 3-3

Between Level 1 to Level 3, the Brightness function is user-configurable.

Level 4 is optimized setting. It is compliance with TUV Low Blue Light Certification. The Brightness function is not user-configurable.

4:3 is only available when input source is in 4:3 format。 Please refer to the following to alleviate eye strains: 3-4

Users should take some time away from the display if working for long hours. It is advised to take short breaks (at least 5 mins) after around 1 hour of continuous working at the computer. Taking short and frequent breaks is more effective than a single longer break.

To minimize eye strain and dryness in your eyes, users should rest the eye periodically by focusing on objects that are far away.

Eye exercises can help to reduces eye strain. Repeat these exercises often. If eye strain continues please consult a physician. Eye exercises: (1) Repeating look up and down (2) Slowly roll your eyes (3) Move your eyes diagonal.

High energy blue light may lead to eye strain and AMD (Age-Related Macular Degeneration). Blue light Filter to reduce 70% (max.) harmful blue light to avoiding CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome).

Shortcut : User can select from “GamePlus”, “GameVisual”, “Brightness”, “Contrast”, “HDR”,“Blue Light Filter”, “Color Temp.”, “Volume” and set as shortcut key.

Customized Setting : You can do your setting according to your favorite.

Language: Select OSD language. The selections are: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Poland, Czech, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Portugal, Turkey, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai and Indonesian.

ECO Mode: Activate the ecology mode for power saving.

Power Indicator: Turn the power LED indicator on/off.

Key Lock: Disable all key functions. Pressing the down button for more than five seconds to disable key lock function.

OSD Setup: Adjusts the OSD Timeout, DDC/CI, and Transparency of the OSD screen.
