Frequently Asked Questions - K7+DA18-55WR+50-200 PENTAX

Which battery to use with the Pentax K-7?
Use exclusively the rechargeable lithium-ion D-LI90 battery. The supplied charger is the D-BC90. Only charge D-LI90 batteries with this charger.
How to clean the CMOS sensor?
The camera has a dust removal system that shakes the sensor with ultrasounds. You can also use a blower following the procedure on page 320 of the manual. For professional cleaning, contact a PENTAX service center.
Can I use a non-Pentax lens?
Recommended lenses are DA, DA L, D FA, FA J and those with an A aperture setting position. For other lenses, set [37. Use Aperture Ring] to Permitted in the Custom Settings menu (p.316).
How to record a video?
Turn the mode dial to the Video icon. Press the shutter button to start recording, press again to stop. Videos are recorded in Motion JPEG format (up to 720p).
What to do if the LCD screen remains black?
Check that the camera is turned on. If the LCD control panel does not appear, press the INFO button to activate it. If the problem persists, remove the battery and reinsert it.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Use the supplied USB cable I-USB7. Connect it to the computer and the camera. The camera must be set to MSC (Mass Storage Class) or PTP mode depending on your system. You can also remove the SD memory card and use a card reader.
Which memory card to use?
Use an SD or SDHC memory card. For videos, a high-speed card is recommended (class 6 or higher). Formatting is done in the Preferences menu (p.275).
How to set the date and time?
At first power-on, the Date setting screen appears. Use the directional keys to set the format, date, and time. You can also modify these settings in the Preferences 1 menu (p.277).
Why doesn't the flash fire?
Make sure the flash is raised (button 4). In Auto Flash mode, the flash fires only when necessary. Some modes like P or Av do not activate the flash automatically. Also check that the flash is not charging (blinking indicator in the viewfinder).
