Frequently Asked Questions - AVR-S650H DENON

What is the power output of the DENON AVR-S650H amplifier?
The AVR-S650H delivers 75 W per channel in a 5-channel configuration (8 Ω, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08% THD), or 150 W per channel in peak measurement (6 Ω, 1 kHz, 10% THD, 1 channel driven). It can drive speakers from 4 to 16 Ω.
Does the AVR-S650H support Dolby Atmos or DTS:X?
No. This model supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, but not Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. It is a classic 5.2 channel amplifier without height decoding. If you want immersive 3D sound, you should look for a higher model like the AVR-S760H.
How many HDMI inputs does the AVR-S650H have, and does it support 4K?
The AVR-S650H has 5 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output with eARC. It supports 4K Ultra HD pass-through with HDR formats HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision. It is also HDCP 2.3 compatible and has ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) for gaming consoles.
How do I connect the AVR-S650H to Wi-Fi?
Press the SETUP button on the remote control, go to Network then Wi-Fi Connection. The amplifier supports 802.11a/b/g/n networks on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. You can also use the HEOS app on your smartphone to guide the initial connection.
What is HEOS and what is its purpose on this amplifier?
HEOS Built-in is Denon's multi-room platform integrated into this device. It allows streaming music from Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music, TuneIn, and other services. You can also sync audio playback across multiple rooms if you have other HEOS devices and control everything from the free HEOS app.
Is the AVR-S650H compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant?
Yes. This amplifier is certified for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. You can control volume, change source, or play music via voice command with an Echo or Google Home. The Apple AirPlay 2 compatibility also allows control from Siri and the Home app.
How do I connect a turntable to the AVR-S650H?
The AVR-S650H has a dedicated MM phono input (Moving Magnet). Directly connect your MM cartridge turntable to this input. If your turntable has an MC cartridge, you will need an external phono preamp. Then select the Phono source on the remote or front panel.
What high-resolution audio formats does the AVR-S650H play via network or USB?
Via the front USB port or local network, the AVR-S650H plays FLAC, WAV, and ALAC files up to 192 kHz/24 bits, as well as DSD at 2.8 MHz and 5.6 MHz. Compressed formats MP3, WMA, and AAC are also supported.
How do I perform Audyssey MultEQ automatic calibration?
Connect the supplied calibration microphone to the dedicated jack on the front panel. Launch the setup assistant from SETUP > Setup Assistant and place the mic at ear height at your listening position. The AVR-S650H automatically measures the distances, levels, and crossover frequencies of each speaker and applies EQ corrections.
What should I do if there is no sound after connecting via HDMI?
First, check that the source is selected and the volume is not muted. Ensure that the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI MONITOR OUT output to the TV, not an input. If using eARC, enable it in the TV settings and ensure CEC is activated on both sides. Restarting the whole system (TV + amplifier + source) often resolves the issue.
Can the AVR-S650H be updated and how?
Yes. Firmware updates are done via the network automatically when the device is connected to the Internet. You can also manually initiate the check from SETUP > General > Firmware Update. Keep the device powered on during the entire update process.

Why does my decoder connected to the DENON AVR-S650H via satellite cable not provide any image or sound?
Frequently Asked Questions - 14/12/2025
Response Notice-Facile

If your decoder is connected to your DENON AVR-S650H home theater amplifier via a satellite cable and you are not receiving any image or sound, several causes may be behind this issue. Here’s how to identify and resolve the problem:

1. Check the physical connections

  • Ensure that the satellite cable is properly connected between the decoder and the AVR-S650H.
  • Also check the HDMI or other cables connecting the AVR-S650H to the television.
  • Make sure the cables are not damaged or poorly inserted.

2. Correct source selection on the AVR-S650H

  • Use the amplifier's remote control to select the correct input corresponding to the port where your decoder is connected.
  • A wrong source selection can lead to a lack of image and sound.

3. Check the operation of the decoder

  • Restart your decoder to eliminate any potential freeze.
  • Check that the decoder is powered on and functioning normally (lights on, menus visible).
  • If possible, test the decoder directly on the television without going through the amplifier to see if it delivers image and sound.

4. Audio and video settings

  • In the decoder settings, ensure that the video output is configured for the type of connection used (e.g., HDMI).
  • Also check the audio settings to ensure they match your system configuration.

5. Test with another device

  • Connect another device (Blu-ray player, game console) to the same HDMI port of the AVR-S650H to check if the problem comes from the amplifier or the decoder.

6. Television settings

  • Ensure that your television is set to the correct HDMI source corresponding to the output of the AVR-S650H.
  • Check that the television works normally with other sources.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the absence of image and sound. If the problem persists, it may be helpful to check the compatibility of audio/video formats between devices or to contact a professional for a more in-depth diagnosis.

What is the AirPlay function on the DENON AVR-S650H receiver and how do I use it?
Frequently Asked Questions - 29/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

AirPlay 2 is Apple's wireless technology that allows you to stream music, podcasts, and other audio content from an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iTunes to your DENON AVR-S650H receiver. The AVR-S650H model supports AirPlay 2, an enhanced version that synchronizes multiple AirPlay 2-compatible devices or speakers for simultaneous playback in multiple rooms.

To use AirPlay on your DENON AVR-S650H, first ensure that the device and your Apple device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The receiver must be powered on, and you need to set the “Network Control” setting to “Always On” in the Settings menu (page 164 of the manual). This setting is essential for the AirPlay icon to appear on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Your Apple device must have iOS 11.4 or later to use AirPlay 2.

Here are the steps to stream content:

  • Open the music, video, or other content app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  • Locate and tap the AirPlay icon in the app (usually at the top or bottom of the screen)
  • Select your DENON AVR-S650H (or the friendly name you assigned to it) from the list of available devices
  • Playback will start automatically on your home theater system

Before starting playback, check the volume on your Apple device. During AirPlay playback, the sound is output at the volume level you set on your iPhone, iPad, or iTunes. It is recommended to lower the volume on your Apple device first, then adjust to the desired level. Each time you start AirPlay playback, the audio input of the receiver automatically switches to “HEOS Music.”

For AirPlay 2 specifically, you can select multiple AirPlay 2-compatible devices or speakers simultaneously. Tap the AirPlay icon, and you will see a list of all available devices. A distinctive circle appears to the right of devices compatible with AirPlay 2. You can then tap on the devices you want to use for multi-room audio synchronization. The volume of each device can be adjusted individually or all together.

To stop AirPlay playback, simply select another input source on your DENON AVR-S650H using the remote control or the Denon app. Note that if you set “Network Control” to “Always On,” your device will consume more power in standby mode, but this is necessary for AirPlay to be available at any time. If you encounter detection issues, ensure that your device is on the same Wi-Fi network and restart both your receiver and your iPhone/iPad.

How to use the Bluetooth transmitter function on the DENON AVR-S650H?
Frequently Asked Questions - 29/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

Important: The DENON AVR-S650H is not a Bluetooth transmitter. It is a Bluetooth receiver that allows you to play music from Bluetooth devices (smartphone, MP3 player, tablet, etc.) and output the sound through your speakers connected to the amplifier.

To use the Bluetooth feature of the DENON AVR-S650H, the source device must support the A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) profile. The device's remote control also works with the AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) to control playback. The Bluetooth range is approximately 30 meters.

First use: Pairing
During the first pairing, the DENON AVR-S650H automatically enters pairing mode, and "Pairing..." appears on the device's screen. Activate Bluetooth on your smartphone or mobile device, search for "Denon AVR-S650H" in the list of detected devices, and select it. Place your device close to the amplifier (about 1 meter) during pairing. The device can remember up to 8 different Bluetooth devices.

Daily use
Once paired, you do not need to pair again. Press the Bluetooth button on the remote control to switch to the Bluetooth source. The amplifier will automatically reconnect to your last connected Bluetooth device. Start playing music on your smartphone from any application (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.). The device must be nearby and have Bluetooth enabled. You can control playback from your smartphone or use the DENON remote if your device supports AVRCP.

Changing devices
To pair a new Bluetooth device, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the remote control for at least 3 seconds. The amplifier will enter pairing mode. Search for and select "Denon AVR-S650H" from your new device. If a 9th device is paired, it will replace the oldest one stored.

Troubleshooting tips
If the connection fails, check that your device supports the A2DP profile and that Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Ensure there are no significant obstacles between the amplifier and the Bluetooth device. If problems persist, turn off both devices, then turn them back on and try to connect again.

□ sqlite 2003.5.7

SQLite Copyright

SQLite is in the

Public Domain

All of the code and documentation in SQLite has been dedicated to the public domain by the authors. All code authors, and representatives of the companies they work for, have signed affidavits dedicating their contributions to the public domain and originals of those signed affidavits are stored in a firesafe at the main offices of Hwaci. Anyone is free to copy, modify, publish, use, compile, sell, or distribute the original SQLite code, either in source code form or as a compiled binary, for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, and by any means.

The previous paragraph applies to the deliverable code and documentation in SQLite - those parts of the SQLite library that you actually bundle and ship with a larger application. Some scripts used as part of the build process (for example the “configure” scripts generated by autoconf) might fall under other open-source licenses. Nothing from these build scripts ever reaches the final deliverable SQLite library, however, and so the licenses associated with those scripts should not be a factor in assessing your rights to copy and use the SQLite library.

All of the deliverable code in SQLite has been written from scratch. No code has been taken from other projects or from the open internet. Every line of code can be traced back to its original author, and all of those authors have public domain dedications on file. So the SQLite code base is clean and is uncontaminated with licensed code from other projects.
