On the Operating Instructions These operating instructions are intended to enable the safe and proper handling and operation of the appliance. Unauthorized Use In cases of unauthorized use specified below, the appliance may be damaged or cause injuries; This appliance shall not be used by individuals (including children) who have limited physical, cognitive or mental capacity or insufficient experience and/or information unless they are instructed in the ways to use the appliance by their legal guardian and being supervised. The children should be supervised to avoid them from playing with the appliance. This appliance can be operated by children of 8 years and above, people with limited physical, auditory and cognitive skills or people with lack of experience and knowledge as long as they are under supervision or they are provided instructions regarding the operation of the appliance. Keep small items of packaging and plastic bags away from children. There is a risk of choke! In case they are not older than 8 years old or unsupervised, children should not clean or maintain the appliance. Keep the appliance and its cable from the reach of children aged <8. The children should be supervised to avoid them from playing with the appliance. The electrical appliances are not toys for children! Therefore keep the appliance away from the children. The children may not be aware of the dangers related to the utilization of the appliance. Do not let the power cord dangle from the appliance. Security Warnings When using an electrical device, the following precautions should always be taken. In order to prevent fire, electric shock and personal injuries; • Read the instructions given in the user manual carefully. Please 19

keep the manual. If you pass the appliance to a third party, give them the manual as well. • If there is something missing in the box when you remove the product from its package, contact an Fakir Authorized Service. • Keep the accessories and apparatus protective bags away from children and babies to prevent the risk of suffocation. • Do not operate the appliance if you think that there is any problem with the device, case, cable and the plug. Please contact the nearest Fakir Service. • If the appliance is malfunctioned, it must be repaired by the authorized Fakir Service. Never attempt to repair it yourself. • The appliance is operated with electrical power which means there is in principle a risk of electric shock so that do not touch the plug with wet hands. • If you want to pull the plug out of the outlet then always pull directly on the plug. Never attempt to pull on the electric cord. It could damage to the cable. • Make sure that the power cable is not damaged and that it does not come into contact with heat sources or sharp edges. • Do not use the appliance outdoors. Your machine may be adversely affected by dirt or rain. • Never immerse your machine in water and protect it from rain and moisture. • Always use your machine in the voltage range written on the appliance. • Never leave your machine unattended while the plug is plugged in. Do not let children play with the appliance without your supervision. • Always use the device in a grounded outlet. • When installing, removing the accessories or cleaning the device and performing maintenance, make sure that the plug is not plugged in. • Do not put anything else inside the water tank other than water. • Do not put anything else inside the brewing chamber other than coffee and sugar. chamber. • Do not use brewing chambers at any other heater than this appliance. (cookers, etc.) • Do not drink the Turkish coffee made with the brewing chamber. • Do not add hot or boiling water inside the water tank. • Do not touch the heating surfaces inside the brewing chamber. Always use the handle to hold the brewing chamber. • Fill the water tank with water when the water warning lamp illuminates. Otherwise your appliance shall not operate. • Do not put anything else inside the brewing chamber other than coffee and sugar. Water is automatically filled to the brewing chamber. • Turn off your appliance from the on/off switch after using it. Do not leave it on. • Make sure that you have unplugged the appliance when you don’t use the appliance and especially while you are cleaning it. • Do not wash the brewing chamber and water tank in a dishwasher. • Due to the manufacturing technology, a vapour or an odour may emanate from the appliance in the first use. This is normal for the appliance. It will pass after a few uses. • If there is any malfunction or damage to the electrical cord or the plug of the appliance, do not use the appliance and get in contact with the nearest Fakir Authorized Service. If there is any malfunction or damage to the equipment, do not use the appliance and get in contact with Fakir Authorized Service.

You can brew a properly frothy Turkish coffee to your taste by using appropriate measures in the table. The measures below are for guidance only, you may adjust them as your personal preference. Plain

• The specified amounts are for single serving/cup of coffee. • You may use the measuring spoon delivered with the product as the coffee measure. • For a delicious and a frothy Turkish Coffee, use fresh coffee. Operation Make sure your device stands upright in a balanced, smooth, clean, dry and non-slip surface.

EN Installing the water tank Place the water tank so that it shall be aligned with the hooks on the block shown in Fig. 1 on the back of the coffee maker at the same time and have it seated by pushing downwards as shown in Fig. 2. The view after installation of water tank to the appliance shall be as in Fig. 3.

NOTE! The water tank shall be placed on the hooks on the block shown in Fig. 1 on the back of the coffee maker securely. Make sure that the chamber is not left hanging in the air and that it is placed correctly on the slots.

NOTE! Maximum volume of the water tank is 2.3 litres.

WARNING!! Never pour hot water into the water tank. Use water only at room temperature or cold water. Filling up the water tank Fill the water tank with water by lifting the lid of the water tank (3) or removing it and directly filling from the tap. The red water indicator light on the control panel shall be illuminated when water in the water tank has run out. You shall add water to the tank in this case, otherwise you may not brew coffee. Adjustment of the water amount as per your cup • Plug the mains cord of your appliance to an outlet. • Press the On/off button on the side of your appliance so that it shall be brought to ( I ) position. 25

• Place the brewing chamber to the brewing slot without adding anything in it. • Press the coffee cup size selection button to select mid size coffee cup. Then press 1 from the coffee serving selection buttons to select single serving. • 5 to 6 seconds later the operating sound of the pump stops, remove the boiling chamber from its housing. At the end of this process, as there is no coffee in the coffee pot, the error signal and all the lights will be on. • This process is for the calibration of the pump. It is important for giving the right amount of water. Then empty the water in the coffee pot, and repeat the same process for the related cup size. Pour the water in the boiling chamber into the cup that you will use continuously. If the amount of the water is low, move the cup size selector to an upper position, if it is too much, move it to a lower position. if the amount is appropriate, do not change its position. • Adjust the water amount when you operate the appliance for the first time, and repeat this whenever you change the cup size.

ATTENTION! Appliance shall be switched automatically to the last cup position before it was turned off when you turn the appliance off and on. Brewing • Plug in the appliance. • Bring the On/Off button to ( I ) position. Small-medium or large cup light shall be illuminated as per your cup selection by following the steps specified above. • Make sure that at least 600 millimetre of water is present in the water tank. Make sure that your water tank is filled with water as per the cup size you have selected and number of cups of coffee you want to brew. • Put coffee and sugar as per your preferences or the amounts recommended in the brewing recommendations above and number of cups you want to brew (1-4) to the brewing chamber.

ATTENTION! Do not leave the coffee amount measuring spoon inside the boiling chamber. Within the boiling chamber you should only put coffee and sugar, according to your preference.

WARNING!! Do not operate the appliance by pouring water into the boiling chamber from outside. Your appliance should only be operated with the water coming automatically inside the water tank. Otherwise, the coffee may overflow or be watery. 26

EN NOTE! Make sure that the brewing chamber is dry and clean to make a delicious coffee.

• The display glass of the brewing chamber shall be clean. Otherwise, the appliance may not sense the coffee inside the chamber. • Place the brewing chamber to the brewing slot.

NOTE! A single warning sound (beep) sounds and the light of the interior chamber illuminates when you place the brewing chamber correctly. Appliance shall not operate if you do not place the brewing chamber correctly. • Then press suitable one from the buttons 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 on the control panel for the number of servings you shall brew. • Warning buzzer sounds (beep) coffee cup light for the servings selected illuminates and appliance starts to take water after you select the amount of coffee. • Appliance plays a melody when brewing starts after it completes taking water. • Brewing times are specified in the table below. Amount

• Your appliance beeps 2 times as a warning after the brewing is complete and lights of the coffee serving selection buttons start to flash until the brewing chambers are removed. It beeps two more times as a warning after removing the brewing chamber when the brewing is complete. • After the brewing process is completed, serve your coffee in a cup.

NOTE! To ensure that the froth and the grounds are not left in the brewing chamber, drain the brewing chamber quickly.

• You may serve 8 cups of Turkish coffee maximum by operating both brewing chambers of your appliance at the same time. • You may brew different coffees at the same time in seperate brewing chambers (plain coffee at a chamber, and sweet / medium at the other).

NOTE! To brew coffee in the second brewing chamber, the water taking operation shall be completed in the first brewing chamber. Just remove the brewing chamber in the relevant slot to cancel brewing for any reason. A melody is played and all lights in the relevant serving selection buttons section are illuminated when you remove the brewing chamber.

NOTE! Do not attempt to brew coffee again without draining the chamber! It may overflow or you may have your coffee with too much water as it shall take more water.

ATTENTION! • When brewing coffee in your device, never use milk and other liquids, use only water.

Tips for better coffees: • Freshness of your ground coffee is the main factor that affects the froth and taste of your coffee. • The cooler the water you use for brewing your coffee, the more froth it shall have. • Pour your coffee to cups quickly without waiting to prevent grounds of coffee settle on the bottom of the coffee pot. • Use the Fakir Kaave measuring spoon delivered with the appliance while brewing your coffee. • Brewing time shall be shorter as the coffee pot shall be hot when you brew coffee one after the other. You may prevent this by washing the brewing chamber with cold water after each operation.

Cleaning and Maintenance • Unplug the appliance before cleaning. • In order to ensure the coffee prepared will be delicious, clean the brewing chambers after each brew without waiting. • You may wash the brewing chamber under running water paying attention to the contacts of the brewing chamber are not soaked. • Wipe the brewing sensor with a damp cloth after each 15-20 brewing operations. Cleaning Alerts • Do not use abrasive cleaners, metal objects or hard brushes to clean the device. • Do not submerge the device or the network cable in water or any other liquid. • Clean with a soft sponge without using a scratching sponge or a pot scrubber that causes the interior surfaces of the brewing chambers to be scratched. Make sure that these surfaces are not scratched.

ATTENTION! Do not wash the brewing chambers and water tank in dishwasher.

• Do not wash any part of the appliance except the brewing chamber and water tank. Wipe with a damp and soft cloth to clean it. • To clean the stains (residues) that might occur at the bottom of the brewing chamber without damaging the inner surface of the brewing chamber, put 1 cup of pre-heated 29

water in the chamber and a half cup of vinegar or 1-2 pieces of sour salt and wait for 2-3 hours. Rinse well and you can use it again after all these stains are cleaned. • It is not suitable for cleaning and maintaining by unsupervised children.

WARNING!! • Do not use any processed, i.e. chemically processed water. Prefer to use fresh water (tap water or drinking water). • If the Turkish Coffee Maker is operated under 4°C, it shall not work as the water in the water tank shall be frozen. • While moving your appliance, ensure that there is no water left in it. Remove the water tank and drain it. • Do not carry your appliance when the brewing chambers are installed in the slot. Brewing chambers may get damaged if they fall to the ground.

Recycling In case of the lifetime of the appliance expire, cut the power cord and make sure it can not be used. Electrical waste must not be disposed of together with household waste. Dispose of the device according to the environmental regulations applicable in your country. The packaging of the appliance consists of recycling-capable materials. Throw out them in suitable recycling bins. This device complies with AEEE Regulation. Shipping Carry the appliance in the original package or a similar, well-padded package to prevent damage to the appliance. Keep the original package.
