General About the operating manual
Thank you, for purchasing the Fakir coffee maker Aroma Grande. The appliance has been developed and manufactured to ensure you enjoy many years of problem-free operation. This operating manual is intended to help you use the device in the best and safest way possible. Please read through this manual carefully before using your appliance for the first time. Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference. If you should wish to pass the appliance on to another party, please give them the operating manual as well.
We do not accept any liability for damages that result from not following the instructions as specified in this manual. No liability for any damages will be accepted if the device is used for a purpose other than that for which it is intended, operated incorrectly or not repaired and maintained professionally.

Safety Declaration of CE conformity
This appliance satisfies the specifications of the German Product Safety Act as well as the EU directives 2014/30/EU, 2014/35/EU, 2001/95/EG, 2011/65/EU, 015/863/EU, 2009/125/EG, EU/2015/1188, EC/1907/2006, EC/1935/2004, EU/10/2011, EU/2018/213, EG 1275/2008, LFGB Art. 30 + Art. 31. The appliance is marked with a CE marking on the label. Fakir reserves the right to make changes to the construction and fittings.
The appliance should only be used in a household setting. The appliance is not suitable for commercial use. The appliance is not designed to be permanently in use. The appliance should only be used in an upright position. Any other usage is considered improper and is prohibited.
The cases of improper use that are listed here may lead to malfunctions, damage to the device or injury:
This device may be used by children aged 8 or older as well as by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or with a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed regarding the safe use of the device and have understood the potential dangers that may arise. Children should not be allowed to play with this appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be carried out by children if unsupervised. Keep the packaging away from children – risk of suffocation!
WARNING! Children Children under the age of 3 should be kept away from the appliance unless they are under constant supervision. This device is not designed to be used by people (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or unless they have been instructed by said caretaker on how to use the device. Children should be supervised to make sure that they do not play with this appliance. Packaging materials cause a risk of suffocation. They should not be used as a toy.
Provided that the device is placed or installed in its normal position, children between the age of 3 and 8 may be allowed to switch the device on and off if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the device and have understood the potential dangers that may arise. Children between the age of 3 and 8 should not plug the device into a plug socket, adjust the device, clean the device and/or carry out user maintenance tasks. The appliance should not be used unsupervised. Make sure that the appliance is out of reach of children and that the cable does not hang down.
WARNING! Risk of burning! The machine may become hot during operation! Only touch the buttons while the coffee maker is working. Especially the warming plate is very hot! Don’t open the cap while cooking, risk of scalding caused of splashing water and hot steam. Allow the device to cool down completely before cleaning.
WARNING! Danger of overheating and fire! Do not place the machine close to other objects, especially above the machine (steam may cause damage). Do not cover the device, e.g. with cloths or similar. Please remember that the appliance may stay hot for a long time after it has been switched off. Never place the coffee maker, the power cord and the plug on or near hot surfaces such as stovetops and ovens.
Attention! Electric current The wrong voltage can destroy the machine. The machine should only be operated when the voltage specified on the type label is the same as the voltage supply in your household. The plug socket must be safeguarded with a 10A circuit breaker. Extension cables are only to be used provided that they are compatible with the device’s power consumption levels. The power cable should be completely unwound when operating the appliance. The power cable should not be placed on the appliance during operation. The appliance must not be placed directly below a fixed power outlet. The device is not suitable to be connected to fixed wiring. Never submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid and keep it protected from rain and wet conditions. WARNING! Caution – some parts of the product can become very hot and may cause burns. Particular care should be taken when children or vulnerable people are present. Rain and dirt can cause damage to the machine! Never use or store the appliance outdoors. The instructions shall state that the appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or a separate remote-control system. Only use the device on a flat and stable surface.
WARNING! Risk of electrocution! Never tough the plug and the appliance with wet hands. Never pull on the cable to remove the mains plug, instead grip the plug directly to pull it out of the socket. The power cable should never be bent, pinched, laid over sharp edges or run over and it should not come in contact with heat sources. If the power cable for this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or their customer service or by a similarly qualified person in order to avoid any potential hazards. Never operate the appliance if the casing shows clear signs of damage, if there is any suspicion of a defective machine (e.g. after dropping the appliance) or if there are signs of damage on the mains cable. Never use a damaged extension cable.
Safety Hazardous situations
In a hazardous situation or during an accident, immediately pull the plug out of its socket.
The appliance can be shipped using its original packaging or with similarly well-padded packaging material.

Unpack the appliance completely and check that the contents of the package are complete (see Scope of Delivery). Contact your retailer immediately if you notice any signs of damage caused during transport.
Keep the packaging for safe keeping and for transportation at a later date (e.g. when moving house, servicing etc.).
Warning! Never use a defective device. Warning! Take care to ensure that the appliance is stood on an even, stable and dry surface. Setting up the appliance
Use only extension cables designed for performance. Completely unwind the mains cable and plug the mains plug into a socket. Before using the coffee maker for the first time, let the machine run just with fresh water twice.
Attention! Ensure that there is enough safety distance from neighboring objects, walls and ceilings. Do not operate the coffee machine directly under a wall cabinet, as steam escapes upwards. Never open the lid during operation, risk of scalding from splash water!
Operation Switch on/off Brew coffee
Insert the mains plug into the socket. „12:00 AM“ flashes on the display and a signal tone sounds. The device switches to standby. Press the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button to start the brewing process without presetting. To put the device back into standby mode, press the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button again.
In standby mode, press and hold the mute button for one second, the mute indicator lights up and the sound is switched off. To reactivate, press the button again for one second.
To set the time, press the „HR“ + „MIN“ buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. Display shows „12:00 AM“. Set the time: The time is shown by AM and PM. Press the „HR“ button and the display increases by one hour. Press „MIN“ and the display is increased by one minute. Holding down the hour or minute buttons increases the time values faster. Wait until the digits stop flashing or press „BREW / AUTO OFF“; the set time is saved and displayed.
BREW / AUTO OFF (keep-warm function)
Press and hold the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button for three seconds to set the duration of the keep-warm function. The „AUTO OFF“ display starts at 0:30 (min), increases by pressing the „MIN“ button by 30 minutes each and pressing the „HR“ button by one hour. The max. keep-warm time is 4 hours. To confirm, press the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button again or wait until the display stops flashing and switches back to standby mode. Now press the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button again, the keep-warm function switches on after a few seconds with a signal tone until the time you have set has expired.
Operation CARAFE TEMP (holding temperature)
Press the „CARAFE TEMP“ button to set the holding temperature. You can choose between „Low - Medium - High“. The default setting is Medium, which is automatically activated when you have disconnected the machine from the mains and restarted it. Temperature settings: Low: 78 ± 3°C, Medium: 81 ± 3°C, High: 84 ± 3°C.
Press the „PROG“ button, the symbol flashes. You can set the hours with „HR“ and the minutes with „MIN“. After you have programmed the start time, press „BREW / AUTO OFF“ within 5 seconds to confirm. Press the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button again within 10 seconds while the „PROG“ indicator is flashing, the digital display remains on and the appliance starts brewing at the saved time.
Press the „AROMA“ button and then the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button, the machine starts brewing the coffee for 20 seconds and then stops for 10 seconds, continues brewing for 20 seconds and so on. This brewing technique ensures a particularly aromatic coffee taste. After the brewing process has ended, the keep warm function is activated for 30 minutes and switches off automatically after the time has elapsed.
CLEAN After 100 brewing processes, the „CLEAN“ display lights up automatically and only disappears after the cleaning process has ended. To switch to cleaning mode, first press the „CLEAN“and then the „BREW / AUTO OFF“ button in standby mode. The water runs for 1 minute and then stops for 2 minutes. This process continues until all the water has passed through.

Warning! Switch the appliance off, unplug the power cable and allow it to cool down completely before commencing maintenance and cleaning tasks. If the plug is left plugged in, the appliance may be switched on accidentally and cause an injury.
Attention! Under no circumstances should abrasive cleaning fluids or chemical cleaning agents (alcohol, petrol, acetone etc.) be used to clean the device, likewise scouring sponges should not be used. Do not submerge the appliance in water or any other liquid. Don’t use a dishwasher to clean the jug, only use water and a mild detergent.
Attention! Allow the appliance to cool down and wind up the power cable before storing the unit in a dust-free place. To ensure that your coffee machine works perfectly for a long time, it should be descaled regularly. The frequency depends on the use and your water hardness. If you use your device more than 1-2 times a day, we recommend a descaling interval of approx. 6-8 weeks. 15
Troubleshooting Dear customer, Our products are subject to strict quality control processes. However, we are very sorry if the appliance should nevertheless fail to function faultlessly. Before you contact our customer service team, please check if you can solve the problem yourself first.
Warning! Switch the appliance off, unplug the power cable and allow for a cooling off period before attempting to identify the fault. This ensures that you do not switch the appliance on inadvertently. Problem

Attention! Repair and maintenance work should only be carried out by trained specialists (e.g. Fakir customer service). Only original Fakir replacement parts are to be used. Appliances that have not been professionally repaired and maintained pose a risk to the user. 16
Disposal When the appliance has reached the end of its useful life, particularly if it starts to malfunction – you should render the worn out machine unusable by pulling out the mains plug from the power socket and cutting through the power cable. Dispose of the device in accordance with the environmental laws of your country. The appliance’s packaging is made of recyclable materials. Sort the different types of materials into the relevant collection bins, so that they can be collected by the recycling services. Worn out electronics and electrical devices contain harmful substances, which were previously necessary to ensure the device’s functioning and safety. Under no circumstances should you dispose of the worn out appliance with the normal household waste! If the device is disposed of in the household waste or if its disposal is handled incorrectly, these substances can become harmful to human health and the environment. Worn out electronics and electrical devices often still contain useful materials. Electrical waste should not be disposed of with your normal household waste. Hand in the worn out appliance at a central collection point. Use your local area’s central collection point for returning and recycling electronics and electrical devices. Ask your local authorities or product retailer for more advice about recycling.
Warranty We offer a warranty under the following conditions for this appliance: 1. Your reseller’s residential address / company address shall be located in the EU or the appliance shall be purchased from an authorized reseller in Germany. 2. We guarantee to ensure that you may send the appliance to us free of charge and to repair the faults which have been reported within 24 months due to material or assembly errors that occur within 24 months (12 months for industrial and professional uses). Proper use of the appliance is a pre-requisite for fulfilling the warranty obligation. The warranty period begins with the date of sale. 3. Parts included in natural wear parts (drive belt, batteries, brushes, filters) are not covered under warranty. 4. Warranty claims shall be void in case of intervention or repair by persons who are not authorized us. In addition, aftermarket spare parts or accessories shall not be installed. 5. Warranty service consists of repair or replacement of defective parts. On-site repairs may only be requested for fixed large appliances. In order to document warranty claims, it is necessary to present the invoice or voucher with the date of purchase, stemp and signature from the dealer. 6. If the repair operation fails and the fault or defect can not be remedied after service, the appliance shall be replaced with an equivalent appliance. If a repair or replacement is not possible, you are entitled the right to return the appliance and to demand a refund of the sales value of the appliance. A fee may be requested for the period of use in case of a request for an exchange or refund of the sales value. 7. Warranty services do not cause an extension of the warranty period or start of a new warranty period. The warranty period for the parts installed inside the appliance ends with the end of the total warranty period of the appliance. 8. Contractual or statutory clauses for repair of faults remain in effect regardless of warranty terms. Applies as of July 1st, 2017
