Frequently Asked Questions - EKF900 ELECTROLUX

How do I program the EKF900 coffee maker for automatic start?
The EKF900 has a 24-hour timer. Fill the reservoir and the coffee filter with ground coffee the night before, then set the desired start time via the control panel. The coffee maker will start automatically at the programmed time.
How do I use the aroma selector?
The aroma selector allows you to adjust the intensity of your coffee. Turn the selector to the strong position for a robust coffee or to mild for a lighter result. This setting affects the water flow and the contact time with the grounds.
The coffee maker turns off automatically, is this normal?
Yes, this is completely normal. The EKF900 is equipped with an automatic shut-off that activates after 35 minutes. This safety feature prevents overheating and saves energy.
The anti-drip valve no longer holds the coffee, what should I do?
Check that the valve is clean and not clogged with coffee residues. Remove the carafe slowly and ensure it is correctly positioned. If the valve is damaged, it is available as a spare part (Electrolux guarantees parts availability for 5 years).
Can I use pods or capsules with the EKF900?
No, the EKF900 is a filter coffee maker designed exclusively for ground coffee. It comes with a reusable permanent filter. Size 1x4 paper pods are also compatible if you prefer not to use the permanent filter.
How do I clean the reusable permanent filter?
After each use, rinse the permanent filter with hot water to remove any grounds residue. A more thorough cleaning with soapy water is recommended once or twice a week. Avoid abrasive sponges that could scratch the mesh.
How do I descale the EKF900 coffee maker?
Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and special coffee maker descaler (or 50% diluted white vinegar). Run a descaling cycle without coffee in the filter, then perform two cycles with clear water. Repeat every 4 to 8 weeks depending on your water hardness.
The water no longer flows or the flow is very slow, what should I do?
A slow flow is usually due to scale. Perform a complete descaling as described in the manual. Also, check that the filter is not clogged with an excess of too finely ground coffee. A medium grind coffee is recommended for a filter coffee maker.
How much coffee should I use to make 12 cups?
The general rule is to use about 6 to 7 g of ground coffee per cup, which is approximately 70 to 85 g for 12 cups and 1.5 L of water. Adjust according to your taste and use the aroma selector to refine the intensity.
Where can I find spare parts for the Electrolux EKF900?
Electrolux guarantees the availability of spare parts for 5 years. You can order them on the official website electrolux.com or from specialized appliance spare parts retailers like Spareka or Fixpart.
Is the glass carafe dishwasher safe?
Check the manual provided with your appliance to verify the dishwasher compatibility of the carafe. To extend its lifespan, hand washing with warm soapy water is generally recommended for glass carafes.
What should I do if the coffee maker does not turn on at all?
First, check the electrical connection and the condition of the power cord. Make sure the carafe is correctly positioned on its base (some models have a position safety feature). If the problem persists after descaling, contact Electrolux customer service or an authorized repairer.

How to delete or reset the timer programming on the ELECTROLUX EKF900 coffee maker?
Frequently Asked Questions - 10 j
Response Notice-Facile

To cancel the timer programming on the ELECTROLUX EKF900, you need to access the control panel and reset the programmed time.

Here are the steps:

  • Press the timer button or the mode selection button (depending on the models) to enter editing mode
  • Navigate to the programmed start time setting
  • Press and hold the reset button (often marked RESET or symbolized by an arrow) for 2-3 seconds until the display clears or blinks
  • Press the confirmation button to validate

If the timer persists after these steps, unplug the coffee maker for 30 seconds, then plug it back in to perform a complete reset. This will reset all programmed settings.

Note: Some EKF900 models retain the last programmed schedule in memory. If the timer reappears on the next restart, this is normal. To permanently delete it, make sure to validate the deletion when editing the timer.

Why is my ELECTROLUX EKF900 coffee maker not heating up and the warming plate remains cold while the coffee is brewing?
Frequently Asked Questions - 22/02/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Your ELECTROLUX EKF900 coffee maker has two distinct heating systems: the main heating element that heats the water for brewing and the warming plate that keeps the coffee hot. The fact that the coffee is brewing normally indicates that the brewing element is functioning correctly. The problem is therefore localized to the warming base only, which significantly limits the possible causes.

Start by checking that the warming plate is not interrupted by an overheating issue. This coffee maker has a safety protection system that can disable the heating in case of a detected malfunction. Allow the machine to cool completely for about 30 seconds without touching anything, then plug it back in and restart a brew. If the plate remains cold after this attempt, proceed with the following checks.

Check that the warming base is free from moisture and limescale deposits that could prevent proper electrical contact. Gently clean the base with a dry cloth, ensuring that the carafe and its lid are correctly positioned: the carafe should not be placed empty on the plate, as this could damage the base. Also, check that the carafe is properly inserted and that its bottom is fully in contact with the plate.

If you haven't cleaned your coffee maker for a long time, a complete descaling is recommended. Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and a specific descaler for coffee makers up to the maximum line, place the carafe on the base, plug in the device, and start a brew. After descaling, empty the carafe and run at least two complete cycles with only cold water to thoroughly rinse the system. Limescale can sometimes affect the heating components of the plate.

If despite these interventions the warming plate remains cold, the problem originates from an internal electrical malfunction: either the plate's heating element, or the thermostat that controls it, or the electrical circuit that powers it. The fact that the brewing system is functioning normally indicates that the issue does not concern the overall power supply of the coffee maker. In this case, it is recommended not to use the coffee maker anymore and to contact ELECTROLUX customer service or an authorized repairer, as this requires internal technical intervention.
