N.B.: Keep these instructions for use with the appliance. If you need to sell the appliance, or give it to another person, make sure that these instructions for use go with it. Thank you for reading these notes before installing and using your appliance. They have been drafted for your safety and that of others.
SAFETY NOTICES The distance between the supporting surface for the cooking vessels on the hob and the lower part of the hood must be at least 65 cm. If the instructions for installation for the hob specify a greater distance, this has to be taken into account.
The air collected must not be conveyed into a duct used to blow off smokes from appliances fed with an energy other than electricity (central heating systems, thermosiphons, water-heaters, etc.). Comply with the official instructions provided by the competent authorities in merit when installing the disposal duct. In addition, exhaust air should not be discharged into a wall cavity, unless the cavity is designed for that purpose. The room must be well aerated in case a hood and some other heat equipment fed with an energy other than electricity (gas, oil, coal heaters, etc) operate at the same time. In fact the intake hood, disposing of air, could create a vacuum in the room. The vacuum should not exceed 0,04mbar. This prevents the gas exhausted by the heat source from being intaken again. It is therefore advisable to ensure the room contains air taps able to ensure a steady flow of fresh air. Check the data label inside the appliance; if the symbol ( ) is printed, read the following: this appliance has such technical particulars that it belongs to class II insulation, therefore it must not be earthed. The following warning is valid in the United Kingdom only: in case your cable is not furnished with a plug, read the following instructions; as the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: – the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black; – the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. – terminal of a three-pin plug. Check the data label inside the appliance; if the symbol ( ) is NOT printed, read the following: ATTENTION: This appliance must be earthed. When making the electrical connections, check that the current socket has a ground connection. The following warning is valid in the United Kingdom only: in case your cable is not furnished with a plug, read the following instructions; as the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: – the wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol [ ], or coloured green or green and yellow; – the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black; – the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. When making the electrical connections, check that the voltage values correspond to those indicated on the data plate inside the appliance itself. In case your appliance is not furnished with a non separating flexible cable and has no plug, or has not got any other device ensuring omnipolar disconnection from the electricity main, with a contact opening distance of at least 3 mm, such separating device ensuring disconnection from the main must be included in the fixed installation. If your unit features a power lead and plug, position this so the plug is accessible. Always switch off the electricity supply before carrying out any cleaning or servicing operations on the appliance. This appliance has been designed for use in private households. Food should not be flame-cooked or the gas rings used without cooking vessels under the hood (any flames sucked upwards may damage the appliance). N.B.: In kitchens heated with a device connected to a chimney (e.g. a stove), the recyclable version of the hood should be installed. Do not use the hob without the cassette filters. Any room where a cooker hood is used at the same time as appliances using gas or any other fuel must be properly ventilated.
USE Avoid using materials which could cause spurts of flame (flambées) near the appliance.
When frying, take particular care to prevent oil and grease from catching fire. Already used oil is especially dangerous in this respect. Do not use uncovered electric grates. To avoid possible risks of fire always comply with the indicated instructions when cleaning anti-grease filters and when removing grease deposits from the appliance. The appliance is supplied in the filtering version. You must remove the charcoal filter for the ducting installation.
DESCRIPTION The hood may be in the filtering or the ducting version.
Filtering version (Fig. 1): The hood aspirates the kitchen air saturated with fumes and odours, purifies it through the grease filters and charcoal filters and returns clean air into the room. For constant efficiency, the charcoal filters must be replaced periodically. The charcoal filters are not supplied. Ducting version (Fig. 2): The hood aspirates the kitchen air saturated with fumes and odours, passes it through the grease filters and expels it to the outside through an outlet pipe. With this version the charcoal filters are not required. Decide from the outset on the type of installation (filtering or ducting). For greater efficiency, we recommend you install the hood in the ducting version (if possible).
INSTALLATION ATTENTION: Two persons are required for proper installation; the unit should be installed by a qualified operator.
Remove the grease filters before proceeding with the assembly instructions. This will make the appliance easier to handle. 1. Removal of grease filters (refer to Figure 3, 4 or 5 depending on model purchased): Fig. 3-4: Push the catch and turn the filter outwards Fig. 5: Lift the clip and turn the filter outwards INSTALLATION IN DUCTING VERSION: Before fixing, the outlet pipe for air evacuation to the outside must be installed. Use an outlet pipe with: – minimum indispensable length; – minimum possible bends (maximum angle of bend: 90°); – certified material (according to the State); – an as smooth as possible inside. It is also advisable to avoid any drastic changes in pipe cross-section (recommended diameter: 150 mm). For air evacuation to the outside, follow all the other instructions given on the “Warnings” sheet. Prepare the power supply within the telescopic chimney (for the electrical connection, follow all the other instructions on the “Warnings” sheet). 2. Fit the flange: Position the flange above the air vent of the motor and exercise slight pressure (Fig. 6). 3. Slide the upper flue in from the top and let it slide fully to the bottom (Fig. 7). For the ducting version, turn the upper flue upside down so that the air vent grilles are at the bottom. 4. Draw a line on the wall along the vertical axis of the hob. Adjust the width of the telescopic flue support bracket (E) using the screws (F) indicated in Fig. 8. Then, using the screw anchors and the screws (G) provided, fit the bracket to the ceiling in such a way that it is in line with the hood. 5. Fixing to the wall: Mark the 4 holes (8 mm ø)to be made in the wall, respecting the distances shown in Fig 9. Warning: Before drilling the holes, check with a level that they are horizontally and vertically aligned. Drill the holes and insert the screw anchors (provided). As already specified on the “Warning” sheet, bear in mind that the distance between the lower edge of the hood and the hob must be at least 650 mm. Fit two of the screws provided in the holes A (Fig. 9) in such a way that the hood can subsequently be hooked onto them using the holes on its rear. 6. Before fixing the hood to the wall, bring it as close as possible to the wall and connect the air vent duct to the flange. Use a flexible hose and lock it to the flange with a metal clamp (hose and clamp not provided). Make the electrical connection of the hood by means of the power cable. 7. Hook the hood onto the 2 screws (A) previously fitted (Fig. 10); Working from inside the hood, tighten the 2 screws (A) and proceed with final fixing to the wall by fitting the other two screws (B) 8. Raise the upper flue up to the ceiling and secure it with the 2 screws (H) - Fig. 11. 9. For the ducting version it is NOT necessary to use the charcoal filters. Check if they have been installed, and if so, take them out by removing the filter clip (M) - Fig. 12). INSTALLATION IN FILTERING VERSION: Prepare the power supply within the telescopic flues (for the electrical connection, follow all the other instructions on the “Warnings” sheet). 2. Fit the reducer: position the reducer above the air vent of the motor and exercise slight pressure (Fig. 13). 3. Secure the air baffle to the upper flue with 4 screws (Fig. 14). Secure a flexible hose T (diameter 125 mm) to the baffle and lock it with a metal clamp (hose and clamps not provided). 4. Slide the upper flue in from the top and secure the flexible hose to the hood reducer with a metal clamp (Fig.15). 5. Draw a line on the wall along the vertical axis of the hob.
