Important Safety Instructions

In order to avoid damage and danger resulting from incorrect use ensure that the instructions for use are observed and kept readily available.
Read the operating instructions of your vehicle manufacturer to determine if the socket and supply cable to the cigarette lighter has a rating of 20 Amps. We recommend the direct connection. You can:

connect the coffee maker to a supply cable designed for this rating (20 Amps). The supply cable must have a fuse of at least 20 Amps. Attention! Do not change the fuse rating.

Or

connect to the car battery. When connecting to the car battery ensure that the supply cable is protected with an own fuse (20 Amps). The supply cable should not exceed a length of 5m (12 V) or 11m (24 V) and should have a minimum conductor cross section of 4mm^2 .

Always connect to a socket, which is designed for a rating of 20 Amps. The sockets are available from a specialist shop.

Check that the battery is charged if you are using the coffee maker when the engine is switched off.

Only connect the coffee maker to a direct current supply. The voltage (12 V or 24 V) indicated on the type plate (bottom of the appliance) must coincide with the voltage of your vehicle

Pull the plug from the socket and put the coffee maker out of use:

  • in case of a fault during operation.
  • prior to cleaning and care.
  • if the supply cable or the coffee maker is damaged.
  • if the coffee maker has a functional fault.

Never pull the socket of the coffee maker out of the cigarette lighter by pulling on the cable.
Do not allow the connection cable to trail down (danger of tripping) nor over edges or corners.
Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.
Keep the coffee maker away from children and avoid touching hot parts of the appliance (e.g. heating plate, glass jug).
Do not stand the coffee maker on hot surfaces and keep away from naked flames.
Only operate the coffee maker when in view and for its intended purpose do not operate when driving, danger of:

  • accidents due to distraction
  • cutting injuries and scalding caused by sharp braking or accidents.

Securely fix the coffee maker using the fitting kit included in the scope of delivery. Only fit the coffee maker on heat resistant surfaces.
Decalcify the coffee maker at regular intervals (see chapter "Decalcification").
If passing on the coffee maker ensure that the instructions for use go with it.
Protect the environment and recycle the packaging material. To dispose of the coffee maker take it to the nearest recycling station.
After unpacking destroy the plastic bag to prevent children playing with it (danger of asphyxiation!).
Important! To avoid considerable subsequent damage only permit a qualified expert repair the coffee maker.

Prior to preparing coffee for the first time

Prior to the first use of the coffee maker percolate water through twice without coffee. Subsequently thoroughly rinse clean filter, glass jug and lid in hot water.

Operation

Hinge up the lid and fill with the required quantity of water (Divisions, only MC-10-12/24, corresponds to a DIN cup = 125 ml).

Swing out the filter to the side (see A 1a + 1b) and insert a filter bag (size 2 for the 5 cup machine; size 6 for the 10 cup machine). Measure approx. one heaped spoon full (approx. 6 g) of fine ground coffee into the filter.

Swing in the filter and position the glass jug with cover.

Switch on the unit. The control light in the switch indicates operation (see A 2a + 2b).

After the water has percolated through wait approx. 1 minute until no more drips come from the filter.

Return the glass jug on the heating plate to keep hot.

Attention!

  • Do not leave the coffee maker switched on when not in use.
  • Do not fill water into the hot coffee maker (wait approx. 10 minutes).
  • Do not fill the water container with hot water or other liquid to heat up.

The used filter bags and their content can be put onto the compost or into a biological garbage can.

Cleaning

Wash the glass jug and filter in hot rinsing water after each coffee making. Prior to cleaning the coffee maker always remove the plug from the socket. Only wipe down the coffee maker itself with a damp cloth.

Decalcification

In order to guarantee good coffee making results and extend the operating life of heating coil ensure that the coffee maker is decalcified after making coffee approx. 30-40 times. Recognisable signs for a necessary decalcification are:

longer percolating time
- louder percolating noise

For health and ecological reasons only use biological agents for decalcification.

Under no circumstances use vinegar, salts or sulphuric acid for decalcification.

Percolate using the decalcifying agent two to three times (adhere to the manufacturer's recommendations for use and dosing). Allow clean water to percolate through two to three times.

  • Do not put water into the hot coffee maker (wait approx. ca. 10 minutes).

Following this flush the filter, glass jug and cover with hot water.

A replacement glass jug can be ordered under the article number MC-GK-05 (5 cup machine) and MC-GK-10 (10 cup machine).

Fitting

The scope of delivery includes the fixing bracket which is very simple to fit. The plastic angled bracket holder is provided with 4mm diameter holes for wall or floor mounting. The holder can be easily screwed to the vehicle e.g. a shelf, in a caravan or a yacht on the rear wall of the galley (see A 3a + 3b). Use the countersunk head screws, washers and nuts (size M 4) to secure the plastic holder, these are commercially available items.

Attention! To avoid damage when drilling holes ensure sufficient clearance for the drill break-out.

To engage push the coffee maker MC-05 into the plastic holder (see B 4a).

It can be released again by a light finger pressure (see B 5).

Attention! When fitting the coffee maker MC-10 in the fixing bracket ensure that the foot of the coffee maker is in the recess of the fixing bracket (see B 4b).

In the case of wall mounting and the corresponding free space below the coffee maker can be additionally securely screwed in place using the a knurled screw (see B 3b A).

A storage compartment is provided beneath the coffee maker for the cable (see B 6a + 6b).

The glass jug is secured by a clamping clip, the retention strength can be increased by turning to the rear (see B 7a + 7b).
