Tips for saving energy

Respect the climate classes indicated in the product information on the appliance's nameplate. You can use this to check the recommended temperature range of the room where the appliance is located:

SN: Between 10 and 32^
- N: Between 16 and 32^ C
ST: Between 16 and 38^
- T: Between 16 and 43^ C

A multi-class appliance can handle the lowest and highest temperature of all classes covered. Using the appliance outside of the ambient temperature range will result in inferior performance and premature ageing.

Temperature control adjustment

For optimal use and energy savings, adjust the temperature control(s) of the appliance according to the ambient temperature of the room, in which it is being used, and respect the climate class.

Refer to the product sheet to find out the climate class associated with the minimum and maximum recommended ambient temperatures for the appliance as well as the temperature setting recommended for storing food under optimal conditions.

The ambient temperatures in ^ C are given as a rough guide.

The set positions can be affected by the location of the appliance in the room, how often the door is opened or the load of food inside.

The temperature control position(s) may need to be changed to compensate for these factors.

Examples of locations:

  • Unheated room in winter like a garage in a cold region.
  • Living room with normal heating like a kitchen
  • Non-air-conditioned room in summer in a hot region

Before any use

Before you start to use the appliance, pay special attention to the following points:

The operating voltage of the appliance is 220 - 240V and 50Hz .
- We are not responsible for the damage caused by using the appliance with a power supply that is not earthed.
Install the appliance in a location where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
- Make sure it is installed at least 50~cm away from heat sources, such as stoves, ovens, hot plates, etc., and at least 5cm from electric ovens.
- Never use the appliance outdoors and never leave it in the rain.
- When the refrigerator is near a freezer, there must be a space of at least 2cm between the 2 appliances to prevent their outer surfaces from becoming wet.
- Do not put anything on top of the refrigerator. Install it in a suitable location, so that there is at least 15cm of free space above the appliance.
- The adjustable feet at the front should be set to an appropriate height for the appliance to be stable and to work properly. You can adjust the feet by turning them clockwise (or anticlockwise). This must be done before placing food in the appliance.
- Before using the refrigerator, clean all its parts with hot water, to which a teaspoon of baking soda has been added. Then, rinse them with clean water and dry them. Put all the parts back in place after cleaning.
- Fit the plastic spacer (the part with the black fins on the back) by rotating it through 90^ , as shown in the figure opposite, to prevent the condenser from touching the wall.
- The appliance must be placed against the wall with a maximum clearance of 75~mm .

Before using the refrigerator

  • If you are switching on the refrigerator for the first time or you have just transported it, leave it in an upright position for 3 hours before plugging it in, to ensure optimal operation. Failure to do so may damage the compressor.
  • The refrigerator may emit odours when you use it for the first time; these odours will disappear as the appliance cools.

Information about the cooling technology

  • The refrigerators equipped with the latest generation of cooling technology operate differently from static cold refrigerators. In conventional refrigerators, the moist air entering the refrigerator and the cool vapour emanating from the food cause frost to build up in the freezer compartment. To melt this ice, or defrost it, you must unplug the refrigerator. During the shutdown period, take the food out of the appliance to keep it fresh and remove the ice from inside.
  • In refrigerators with the latest generation of cooling technology, the situation in the freezer compartment is completely different. Thanks to a fan, the cool, dry air emerges from several points inside the freezer compartment. Therefore, the flow of cold air that creates a uniform distribution, even in the spaces between the shelves, also freezes the food evenly and properly. What's more, no frost forms.
  • The configuration of the refrigerator compartment is quite similar to that of the freezer compartment. The air, which is blown by the fan located above the refrigerator compartment, is cooled as it passes through the space behind the ventilation duct. At the same time, air is blown through the holes in the ventilation duct, thereby completing the cooling process in the refrigerator compartment. Thanks to the holes in the ventilation duct, the air is distributed evenly in the compartment.
  • Because there is no air passage between the freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment, there will be no mixing of odours either. This is what makes this refrigerator, equipped with the latest generation of cooling technology, easy to use, besides its large volume and great looks.

- Storage bin

Storing food in the storage bin instead of the freezer or refrigerator prolongs its freshness and flavour, while preserving its appearance.

(Water freezes at 0^ , but salty or sweet foods freeze at an even lower temperature). The storage container is recommended for storing highly perishable food.

Do not put food in it, that you want to freeze, or ice cube trays for making ice. If the storage container is dirty, take it out and wash it with water.

Removing the storage bin

  • Pull the storage bin towards you by sliding it on the runners.
  • Pull it up to remove the bin from the runner.

  • "OK" temperature indicator

To help you adjust your appliance properly, we have equipped the refrigerator with a temperature indicator, which is located in the coldest part. In order to properly preserve the food in the refrigerator, particularly in the coldest part, make sure that the temperature indicator shows the word "OK". If "OK" does not appear, the temperature setting is incorrect. The "OK" message appears in black, and it is not easy to see if the temperature indicator is poorly lit. It is easier to read if the indicator is correctly lit. Each time the temperature adjustment button is changed, wait for the temperature inside the appliance to stabilise before making a new adjustment, if necessary. Only make small movements when changing the position of the adjustment knob and wait at least 12 hours before rechecking and making any changes.

PLEASE NOTE: after filling the appliance with fresh food or after opening the door repeatedly (or for a prolonged period), it is normal for the "OK" message to disappear from the temperature indicator.

  • Food placement

Coldest zone

Food preservation can be improved by placing it in the suitable location for the food type concerned. The coldest area is just above the crisper.

The symbol below indicates the location of the coldest part of the refrigerator.

VALBERG CNF 330 F W701T - CNF 330 F W701T - Coldest zone - 1

The coldest area (0^ to 4^) of the refrigerator compartment is marked out by the sticker on the left side of the wall. The upper limit of the cold area is indicated by the lower edge of the sticker (i.e. the tip of the arrow). The upper shelf of the colder zone must be level with the tip of the arrow. The coldest area is therefore located under this shelf. Given that the shelves are removable, make sure that the lower shelf is always at the same level as the limit indicated on the sticker, in order to maintain the temperature in this area (0 to 4^ ).

VALBERG CNF 330 F W701T - CNF 330 F W701T - Defrosting - 1

Replacing the LED bulb

  • Given that the lighting of this appliance uses LED technology, it cannot be replaced by the user. Contact the after-sales service to carry out any work on the appliance.

Organisation of the food in the appliance

Refrigerator compartment

  • Under normal operating conditions, setting the refrigerator compartment temperature to 4^ should be sufficient.
  • To reduce the level of humidity and the corresponding build-up of frost, never place liquids in open containers in the refrigerator. Frost tends to concentrate in the cooler parts of the evaporator, requiring more frequent defrosts over time.
  • Never place hot food in the refrigerator. Hot food should, first of all, be left to cool down to room temperature, after which it can be stored such that there is sufficient air flow in the refrigerator compartment.
  • Nothing should touch the rear wall, as this can cause frost, and the containers can get stuck to this wall. Do not open the refrigerator door too frequently.
  • Store washed meat and fish (wrapped or packed in plastic), that you plan to use within one to two days, in the lower section of the refrigerator compartment (above the crisper), as this is from the coldest part, offering the best storage conditions.
  • You can place fruits and vegetables in the crisper without packaging.

Eggs1 monthIn the egg tray
Cooked foodOn all the shelves

Freezer compartment

  • Please use the freezer compartment of the appliance for storing frozen food for a long time, and for making ice cubes.
  • To take advantage of the maximum capacity of the freezer compartment, use the glass shelves for the upper and middle sections. For the lower section, use the lower basket.
  • Do not place the food you want to freeze next to food that is already frozen.
  • When freezing food (meat, minced meat, fish, etc.), divide it up into portions that can be consumed at one meal.
  • Do not refreeze food that has thawed. This could be hazardous for your health, due to the risk of food poisoning.
  • Do not put hot food in the freezer until it has cooled. This could harm other frozen food that is already in the freezer.
  • When buying frozen food items, make sure that they have been frozen under suitable conditions and that the packaging is not torn.
  • When storing frozen products, follow the storage conditions indicated on the packaging. If there are no instructions, the food must be consumed as quickly as possible.
  • If moisture gets inside the packaging of a frozen food item and it has an unpleasant smell, the food may have been stored in improper conditions and spoiled. Do not buy this type of food!
  • The storage times for frozen food items depend on the ambient temperature, how often the doors are opened and closed, the temperature control setting, the type of food and the time elapsed between the purchase of the products and the time you put them in the freezer. Always follow the instructions on the packaging and never exceed the stated shelf life.
  • In the event of a prolonged power failure, do not open the freezer compartment door. The compartment temperature decreases as the ambient temperature increases. In the event of a prolonged power cut, do not refreeze your food, and consume it as soon as possible.
  • Please note that if you want to open the freezer door immediately after closing it, it will be hard to open. This is quite normal! Once the pressure has equalised, the door will open easily.

Important comments:

  • Once thawed, frozen food should be cooked like fresh food. If it is not cooked after thawing, it must NEVER be refrozen.
  • The taste of some herbs and spices used in cooked dishes (aniseed, basil, watercress, vinegar, mixed spices, ginger, garlic, onion, mustard, thyme, marjoram, black pepper, etc.) may change and become stronger after prolonged storage. Therefore, do not add too many spices to the food you are freezing, or wait for your dish to thaw before adding the spices you want.

  • The shelf life of food depends on the type of fat used. Margarine, veal fat, olive oil and butter are suitable, while peanut oil and pork fat should be avoided.

  • Liquid food items should be frozen in plastic containers and other food items should be frozen in plastic film or in freezer bags.

If you have a problem with the refrigerator, check the following before contacting the customer service.

The refrigerator does not work

Check if:

  • The refrigerator is plugged in and turned on
  • The fuse has blown
  • The temperature setting is appropriate.
  • The plug is defective. To check this, plug another appliance that works into the same outlet.

The refrigerator is not working properly

Check if:

  • The appliance is overloaded.
  • The doors are properly closed.
  • There is dust on the condenser.
  • The distance between the unit and adjacent walls is adequate

The refrigerator is running loudly

The following noises may be heard during the normal operation of the appliance.

There is a cracking noise (cracking of ice):

  • During automatic defrosting.
  • When the appliance is cooling or warming up (due to the expansion of the materials).

There is a clicking noise:

  • When the thermostat turns the compressor on/off.

Motor noise:

Indicates that the compressor is operating normally. The compressor may make more noise for a short time when it is first turned on.

There is a bubbling and lapping noise:

This is caused by the refrigerant flowing in the pipes of the system.

If the appliance does not work:

  • Is there a power cut?
  • Has the appliance been properly plugged into the outlet?
  • Has the fuse of the outlet where the plug is plugged in or the main fuse blown?
  • Or is the plug damaged? To check, plug the appliance into another outlet to see if it is working normally.

Command warnings:

If the temperatures in the refrigeration and freezer compartments are not set to appropriate levels, or if there is a problem, the appliance will notify you. Warning codes appear on the freezer and refrigerator compartment setting screens.

If the appliance is making noises:

Normal noises

Cracking noises (ice cracking):

  • These noises can be heard during the automatic defrost process.
  • They occur when the appliance is cooling and warming up (expansion of the appliance's materials).

Small cracking noises: noises heard when the temperature control activates or deactivates the compressor.

Compressor noises: this is the normal sound of the motor. This noise means the compressor is operating normally. When the compressor is just starting up, it may make noises for a while. Bubbling and gurgling noises: these noises are heard when the refrigerant liquid flows through the pipes inside the appliance.

Water flowing noises: normal sound of water flowing through the evaporator pan during the defrosting process. This noise can be heard during the defrosting process that takes place inside the appliance.

Noises produced by water: this is the normal sound of the fan. This noise may be heard because of the air flowing in refrigerators with the frost-free technology while the system is operating normally.

If the edges of the appliance body, coming in contact with the door seal, are hot:

Especially in summer (in hot climates), the surfaces in contact with the refrigerator seal may become hot while the compressor is running. This is quite normal.

If there is moisture inside the appliance:

  • Was the food well packaged? Were the containers properly dried before they were put in the refrigerator?
  • Are the refrigerator doors being opened frequently? When you open the refrigerator door, moisture from the air in the room gets inside the appliance. If the humidity level in the room is particularly high, the more the door is opened, the faster humidity will form.

If the doors do not open and close properly:

  • Is there some food packaging preventing the doors from closing?
  • Are the door shelves, bins and shelves in their correct positions?
  • Are the door seals defective or worn?
Is the refrigerator on level ground?

IMPORTANT COMMENTS:

  • The compressor protection function will be activated after a sudden power cut or after unplugging the appliance, given that the gas contained in the cooling system has not yet stabilised. There is no need to worry, the refrigerator will start after 5 minutes.
  • Unplug the refrigerator if you will not be using it for a prolonged period (e.g. during the summer holiday). Clean the refrigerator in accordance with the instructions given in section 4, and leave the door open to prevent moisture from building up and bad odours from forming.
  • If the problem persists even after following all of the above instructions, please contact the Customer Service.

Tips for saving energy

  1. Install the appliance in a cool and well-ventilated place.
Do not place it in direct sunlight or near a heat source (radiator, hotplate, etc.) Otherwise, use an insulating board.
  2. Leave hot food and drinks to cool outside the appliance.
  3. After thawing food, place it in the refrigerator compartment. The low temperature of the frozen food cools the refrigerator compartment, thereby saving energy. Energy is wasted when food is removed from the appliance.
  4. Drinks and soups should be covered when stored in the appliance. Otherwise, the humidity increases in the appliance. This will have the effect of increasing the running time. Drinks and soups must also be covered to preserve their taste and smell.
  5. When placing food and drink in the appliance, open the door as briefly as possible.
  6. Keep closed the covers of all the compartments of the appliance (crisper, cooler, etc.), which are at different temperatures.
  7. The door seal must be clean and flexible. Replace the seals if worn.
