Frequently Asked Questions - TBIG25IXC - TBIS25IX - TBIC44IX THOMSON

What is the difference between the TBIS25IX, TBIG25IXC, and TBIC44IX?
The TBIS25IX is a 25-liter built-in microwave without a grill (900 W), ideal for reheating and defrosting. The TBIG25IXC (25 L) adds a 1,000 W grill and a crisp plate for browning and crisping. The TBIC44IX is a 44-liter combination oven with 9 cooking modes, 4 combined functions, and a 1,750 W grill, for versatile use in built-in kitchens.
How to install these Thomson built-in microwaves?
These three models are installed in a kitchen cabinet designed for built-in appliances. Follow the cutout dimensions indicated in the manual and keep the vents clear. The connection is made to a standard 230 V power outlet. If in doubt, call a qualified installer.
How to clean the stainless steel cavity of these microwaves?
Wipe the interior with a soft damp cloth after each use. For cooked-on splatters, heat a bowl of water for 3 minutes: the steam softens residues, then simply wipe. Never use abrasive products or metal pads that scratch stainless steel.
How does automatic defrosting work?
Select the defrost button, then enter the weight of the food. The appliance automatically calculates the optimal duration and power. The TBIC44IX has two separate defrosting programs. Remember to turn the food halfway through for even defrosting.
The turntable no longer rotates, how to solve the problem?
Remove the turntable and its support (roller or ring). Clean the circular groove at the bottom of the cavity and the support parts. Check that the drive coupler under the turntable is not broken or dirty. Replace the set well-centered. If the problem persists, the motor or coupler needs replacing (parts available on Spareka or FixPart).
The oven stops during cooking, what to do?
Check that the door is properly closed: the microwave does not operate if the latch is not engaged. If the appliance stops after a few minutes, the thermal protection may have triggered. Turn off the appliance, let it cool for 10 minutes, and ensure the vents around the cabinet are not blocked.
How to activate the child lock on the TBIC44IX?
Press and hold the lock button (padlock symbol) for about 3 seconds. The LED display confirms activation, and the control panel is then disabled. To unlock, repeat the same procedure. This function is only available on the TBIC44IX.
What accessories are supplied with each model?
  • TBIS25IX: turntable + protective cover
  • TBIG25IXC: turntable + crisp plate (for browning and crisping)
  • TBIC44IX: turntable + 2 stackable racks
How to choose the right microwave power level?
The TBIG25IXC offers 5 power levels. Use 900 W for quickly heating liquids and already cooked dishes. Choose 450 to 600 W for reheating delicate dishes (eggs, sauces). Opt for 180 to 300 W for gentle defrosting. Refer to the correspondence table in the manual for recommended durations.
Where to find spare parts or after-sales service for these Thomson microwaves?
Spare parts are guaranteed available for 13 years after purchase for the TBIS25IX, and 7 years for the TBIC44IX. Specialized sites like Spareka or FixPart offer compatible parts (turntable, coupler, door hinge). For after-sales service, contact your retailer or Thomson consumer service.

How to resolve a faulty display issue on a THOMSON TBIG25IXC, TBIS25IX or TBIC44IX device?
Frequently Asked Questions - 10/12/2025
Response Notice-Facile

A faulty display on your THOMSON device can be caused by several factors. Here are the steps to follow to try to resolve this issue:

1. Check the power supply

Make sure the device is properly plugged into a working outlet. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it is supplying power.

2. Restart the device

Completely turn off the device, unplug it for at least one minute, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the display.

3. Check the connections

If your device is connected to another equipment (like a TV or audio system), check that all cables are properly inserted and in good condition, without cuts or wear.

4. Reset the device

Some THOMSON models have a factory reset function. If available, perform this reset to eliminate any potential software bug affecting the display.

5. Contact customer service

If the problem persists despite these checks, it is possible that the display is faulty at the hardware level. In this case, contact THOMSON customer service for technical assistance or repair.

What should I do if the green Start button on my THOMSON TBIG25IX is not working?
Frequently Asked Questions - 28/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

If the green Start button on your THOMSON is unresponsive, several checks can resolve the issue before contacting customer service.

First, check the child lock (on the TBIC44IX model): If your oven displays "OFF" on the screen, the child safety lock is activated, which disables all buttons on the oven. To deactivate it, press and hold the Pause/Cancel button for about 3 seconds until the "OFF" display disappears. A beep will confirm the deactivation of the lock.

Check the power supply: Ensure that your Thomson oven is properly plugged into a functional electrical outlet. Check that the power cord is not damaged or worn. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it is working correctly.

Perform a complete reset: Unplug the oven from the electrical outlet and wait about 5 minutes. This waiting period allows the internal circuits to reset. Then plug the device back in and test the Start button. This often resolves minor electronic malfunctions.

Inspect the Start button: Check that the button is not stuck, sticky, or obstructed by debris or food residues. Press it firmly several times to see if it responds. Gently clean around the button with a damp cloth if necessary.

If the problem persists, it is likely an internal electronic or mechanical malfunction. Contact THOMSON customer service at 0 978 970 970 (France) or +32 2 334 00 00 (Belgium) for a complete diagnosis and repair by an authorized center.

Foods

Forbidden foods

If you choose a cooking method using microwaves, you should never:

  • Attempt to fry food - it is impossible to control the temperature of the oil and other fats- fire-risk.
  • Attempt to cook or warm up eggs in their shells, hard-boiled eggs with or without their shells or snails - they may explode.
  • Attempt to cook food in an intact shell (e.g. chestnuts) or hard skin (tomatoes, potatoes, sausages) - always make a slit.

Food temperatures

The action of microwaves is such that only the food is heated. The container may, therefore, remain cold or cool while the food that it contains is burning hot.

To avoid any risk of burning, always stir before serving and check the temperature carefully before serving - especially to children.

Shake feeding bottles well and try a few drops on the back of your wrist to check the temperature.

Preparing food for cooking

Before warming feeding bottles and small pots, remove teats and covers.

Remember to cover the food in order to:

  • avoid any splashing of the oven cavity,
  • retain sufficient moisture for cooking.

Heating liquids

When heating liquids, a sudden overflow may occur when you take the container to remove it from the appliance. In fact, when the temperature reaches boiling point, steam tends to remain trapped in the liquid until it is disturbed.

To avoid this superheating effect and the consequent risk of scalding, always place a plastic spoon in the liquid to be heated.

A container can easily be tested for microwave "transparency":

Place the empty container on the turntable together with a glass of water and run the oven for one minute at maximum power.

After one minute:

  • if the container is cold, it is "transparent" and can be used for microwave cooking,
  • if the container is warm or hot it is absorbent and must not be used for microwave cooking.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, disconnect the microwave oven from the mains supply and allow it to cool to room temperature.

General Advice

Frequent cleaning prevents the formation of smoke and bad odours during cooking and also sparking in the oven cavity and around the door seal.

Do not let food deposits or grease accumulate inside the oven cavity or on the door seal.

Make sure that the waveguide cover is kept clean at all times. Should food deposits or grease be allowed to accumulate on the cover, sparking will occur and may damage your oven invalidating the warranty.

Oven Door

Remove any food deposits and grease between the door seal and oven cavity using a damp

cloth, it is important to keep this area clean at all times.

Interior Walls

Remove any grease splashes from the oven cavity walls with soap and water, then rinse and dry.

The door seal and oven cavity have to be particularly well cleaned to ensure the door will close properly and to avoid sparking between the oven cavity and door assembly.

Do not use abrasive products such as scouring pads which will damage the surfaces of the oven cavity and door.

Outer Surfaces

To clean the outside surface, use a damp cloth.

Avoid using abrasive products such as scouring pads that may damage the cosmetic surfaces.

Make sure water does not seep into the ventilation slots.

Accessories should be washed in warm soapy water by hand.

CAUTION:

Some waveguide covers can be easily damaged, take care when cleaning.

Do not wash accessories in a dishwasher.

Cleaning surfaces that come into contact with food

For hygiene safety the glass tray should be cleaned regularly as it may come into contact with food.

It should be cleaned with warm soapy water and dried thoroughly.

If the inside of the oven cavity and door seal are not kept perfectly clean, there is a danger of damage due to sparking inside the oven cavity invalidating the warranty.

Never scrape the oven cavity walls with sharp objects.
