SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS • This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. • It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for: - staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; - farm houses; - by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; - bed and breakfast type environments. • Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 14

• Remove all packaging items, stickers or EN other accessories either on the inside or ES outside of the appliance. PT • Unwind the power cord fully. IT • Make sure that the electric power supply EL is compatible with the power rating and DA voltage indicated on the bottom of the NO FI appliance. • Never immerse the appliance in any SV liquid. Never immerse the appliance or its TR AR power cord in water. • If need be, make sure to choose an FA PL extension lead of equivalent diameter CS with an earthed socket. SK • The appliance should only be plugged HU into an earthed socket. RO • If the power supply cord is damaged, it BG must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. • This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. 15

• This appliance is suitable for use by children of 8 years and above or by persons without the necessary experience or knowledge or with impaired physical, sensory or mental capacities if they have been trained and are supervised, to ensure that they use the appliance safely and understand the hazards that exist. Children should not be left to play with the appliance. Children should not attempt to clean or service the appliance unless they are aged at least 8 years or older and supervised.

Prevention of accidents at home

• If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.

• Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.

• Only use the plate supplied with the appliance or purchased from an approved service centre.

• Never run the appliance empty. • Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth, varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a teatowel. • To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall. • Place the appliance on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. • On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes. • Do not wrap the food in foil while cooking. • Any solid or liquid foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts marked with the logo should not be consumed. • Never slide aluminium foil or any other object between the cooking plate and the heating element. • In order to protect the cooking plate’s coating, always use either a wooden or plastic spatula. • Take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.

• Check that the appliance is unplugged before cleaning. • Keep the appliance out of the reach of children when it is cooling down. • Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in or in use. • The heating coil is not to be cleaned. If it is really dirty, wait until it has cooled down and wipe with a dry cloth. • Never place the hot plate on a fragile surface or under running water.
