Frequently Asked Questions - MX410DE LEXMARK

How to resolve a paper jam in the printer?
Check the error messages displayed on the control panel. Open the indicated doors and trays (front door, rear door, tray) and carefully remove the jammed paper. To avoid jams, load the paper correctly and follow the recommended paper weights (see the Loading Paper section).
How to connect the printer to a wireless network?
Make sure you have installed the MarkNet N8352 wireless network adapter. Use the wireless setup wizard from the control panel: go to Settings > Network/Ports > Wireless and select your network (SSID). Enter the WEP or WPA/WPA2 security key if necessary. You can also use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
How to replace the toner cartridge?
Open the front door of the printer. Remove the imaging unit, then take out the used toner cartridge. Unpack the new cartridge, remove the protective cover, insert it firmly into the imaging unit, then reassemble. Close the door. The 'Low toner' message will disappear after replacement (see the Replacing Supplies section).
How to send a fax from the printer?
Load your document in the automatic feeder or on the scanner glass. Press the Fax button on the control panel. Dial the number using the numeric keypad or select a shortcut from the address book. Press Start to send. To cancel, press Cancel.
How to scan a document to a computer?
Place the document on the scanner glass or in the automatic feeder. From the control panel, select Scan > Scan to Computer. Choose the destination computer from the list (Lexmark software must be installed). Press Start. You can also use the embedded web server to configure scanning to FTP or email.
How to set the time and date on the printer?
Go to Settings > General Settings > Set Date and Time on the control panel. Use the arrow keys to enter the date and time, then confirm with the OK button. This is necessary for proper fax and report functionality.
How to clean the scanner glass?
Turn off and unplug the printer. Open the scanner cover. Clean the glass with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened (water or glass cleaner). Dry immediately with a dry cloth. Do not spray directly onto the glass. Close the cover. See the Cleaning Printer Parts section.
How to restore factory defaults on the printer?
From the control panel, go to Settings > General Settings > Restore Factory Defaults. Confirm by pressing OK. The printer will restart with default settings. Note that this erases all custom settings (network, shortcuts, etc.).
What to do if the printer displays 'Standard USB port disabled'?
This [56] message indicates that an unsupported USB device is connected. Disconnect all USB devices (hub, flash drive, etc.) and try again. If the problem persists, restart the printer. See the Troubleshooting section of the manual for more details.
How to print automatically on both sides?
From your computer's print driver, select the Duplex or Two-sided printing option. Make sure the paper size and type support duplex (e.g., A4, Letter). For jobs from the control panel (copy), select Copy > Settings > Sides (Duplex).

Notice to users of the Canadian telephone network

This product meets the applicable Industry Canada technical specifications. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) is an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The terminus of an interface may consist of any combination of devices, subject only to the requirement that the sum of the RENs of all the devices does not exceed five. The modem REN is located on the rear of the equipment on the product labeling.

Telephone companies report that electrical surges, typically lightning transients, are very destructive to customer terminal equipment connected to AC power sources. This has been identified as a major nationwide problem. It is recommended that the customer install an appropriate AC surge arrester in the AC outlet to which this device is connected. An appropriate AC surge arrester is defined as one that is suitably rated, and certified by UL (Underwriter's Laboratories), another NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory), or a recognized safety certification body in the country/region of use. This is to avoid damage to the equipment caused by local lightning strikes and other electrical surges.

This equipment uses CA11A telephone jacks.
