How to turn the Cobra MT 200 radio on and off?
Press and hold the Mode/Power button until the screen turns on or off.
How to change the channel on the MT 200 radio?
Briefly press the Mode/Power button to enter channel selection mode. The channel number flashes. Use the Up/Down buttons to choose the channel (1 to 8). Press Mode/Power again to confirm.
How to adjust the volume?
In standby mode, briefly press the Up or Down buttons to adjust the volume. The level (1 to 8) is displayed with 'LE'. Release when the desired volume is reached.
How to use the Talk function to transmit?
Press and hold the Talk button and speak about 5 cm from the microphone. Release the button to listen to the reply. You cannot receive while transmitting.
How to call another user?
Briefly press the Call button to emit a call tone. The other radio will beep if it is on the same channel.
Which batteries to use and how to install them?
Use 3 rechargeable AAA batteries (supplied) or alkaline. Remove the belt clip by pulling the latch upward, open the compartment, insert the batteries respecting polarity, then close.
How to recharge the batteries?
Plug the round connector of the wall charger into the charging jack on top of the radio. Plug the charger into a mains socket. Charging takes about 15 hours. Do not exceed 24 hours.
Is the radio's battery life long?
With fully charged batteries, the battery life is about 8 hours in normal use. The radio has a Power saving mode that activates after 10 seconds without transmission.
What to do if the low battery icon appears?
The Low battery icon flashes. Replace the batteries with new ones or recharge the rechargeable batteries as soon as possible.
Is the Cobra MT 200 radio compatible with other brands?
Yes, it uses the PMR446 standard (channels 1 to 8). It can communicate with any PMR446 radio set to the same channel.

Radio Controls and Indicators

Talk Button

Press and hold to communicate with others. With the microphone about five cm (2 inches) from your mouth, speak in a normal voice.

Release the Talk button when you are finished talking and listen for a response. You cannot receive incoming calls while pressing the Talk button.

NOTE Both radios must be tuned to the same channel to communicate.

Call Button

Press and release to alert others that you are calling.

Mode/Power Button

Press and hold to turn the radio on or off.

Press and release to enter mode function to change channels.

The channel numbers will blink when that mode is selected. Use the Up/Down buttons to select a channel.

Up/Down Buttons

Press and release to adjust the volume.

Insert Batteries

To install or replace batteries:

  1. Remove belt clip by releasing belt clip latch and sliding clip up.
  2. Pull up on the battery door latch to remove the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the supplied three AAA rechargeable batteries (also works with non-rechargeable alkaline batteries). Position batteries according to polarity markings.
  4. Replace battery compartment cover and belt clip.

Radio Charger Jack

To charge batteries in radio:

  1. Check to see that the batteries have been inserted properly. See above for battery installation instructions.

  2. Insert round connector of wall charger into the charge jack located at the top of the radio. The wall charger has two round connectors which enables you to charge either one or two radios at a time.

  3. Plug the wall charger into electrical outlet.
    It normally takes 15 hours to fully recharge batteries. It is not recommended to recharge batteries more than 24 hours. Estimated operation time on a full charge is 8 hours.
    Use only the supplied rechargeable batteries and wall charger for recharging your Cobra microTALK radio. Non-rechargeable alkaline batteries can also be used.

Battery Low Icon

Blinks when battery power level is low.

Your microTALK® radio has a unique circuit designed to extend battery life. If there are no transmissions within 10 seconds, the radio will automatically switch to Battery Save mode. This will not affect the radio's ability to receive incoming transmissions.

Channel/Volume Indicator

"CH" is visible when in Standby mode or when selecting a channel.

"LE" is visible when adjusting volume.
