Frequently Asked Questions - SLOW COOKER BREVILLE

How to use the searing function (EasySear™)?
Remove the EasySear™ pot from the housing and place it on a stovetop (gas, electric or ceramic). Coat with oil, heat over medium-high heat, sear food in small batches. Then, return the pot to the housing using oven mitts.
What temperature settings are available?
Three settings: Low (Low) for slow cooking 6-8 hours, High (High) for fast cooking 3-4 hours, and Dual (Combined) which starts on High then switches to Low after 2 hours.
Can I put the EasySear™ pot in the dishwasher?
Yes, the pot and stainless steel lid are dishwasher-safe. However, to preserve the nonstick coating, hand washing with hot soapy water is recommended.
Is it possible to roast meat in the slow cooker?
Yes, place the meat on the provided stainless steel rack so it does not sit in the fat. Use the Low setting for several hours. For a browned result, sear the meat beforehand in the EasySear™ pot on the stovetop.
Can you cook frozen food directly?
No, it is imperative to thaw meat or poultry before cooking. Never cook frozen meat in the slow cooker.
How to thicken the sauce at the end of cooking?
Remove the lid and set to High for 30-45 minutes to reduce the liquid. Or add some cornstarch diluted in water and let it thicken uncovered on High.
What to do if the EasySear™ pot is dented or damaged?
Do not use the pot if it is damaged. Replace it before use. You can contact Breville customer service to obtain a replacement part.
What is the recommended capacity for the pot?
For optimal cooking, the pot should be filled at least half full and up to three-quarters full of food and/or liquid before starting.
Can I use the slow cooker unattended?
It is not recommended to leave the slow cooker unattended, especially on the High setting. If you are away for more than 3 hours, use the Low setting instead.
How to clean stubborn residues in the pot?
Fill the pot 3/4 full with water, bring to a boil on the stovetop (or in the slow cooker on High) and let simmer for 15 minutes. Then scrub with a soft nylon brush.
