- Cooking stone
- Crêpe griddle
- Grilling + Crêpe plate
Instructions
- Lubricate the non-stick plates with oil before first use.
- Carefully wipe the raclette skillets, grilling plate and crêpe griddle with a damp cloth before first use.
- The appliance may omit a slight odour the first time it is used. This is because of its protective coating. We therefore recommend setting the appliance to its highest temperature without food, for at least ten minutes (make sure the room is well-ventilated as you do so).
- This appliance must be preheated before use.
- Place some paper towels under the appliance to avoid any spitting fat damaging tablecloths or surfaces.
Powering and preheating
Check that the appliance's voltage and power levels are compatible with the electric circuit in your home.
Attach the appliance to an earthed plug. If in any doubt, consult your electrician. Set the thermostat to HIGH. The indicator light will turn on.
Allow the appliance to preheat for:
- 5-8 minutes for raclette skillets
- 15 minutes for cooking stone or grill
- 10 minutes for crêpe griddle
For the first ten uses, place a little sunflower oil or finely-ground salt on the cooking stone after preheating and wipe with a soft cloth. This will ensure that food does not stick to the surface.
Cooking
After preheating the appliance is ready for use.
- Raclette setting
Raclette is a traditional Swiss dish. Use original Raclette cheese for best results. Use 150-250g of cheese per person. Cut into slices about 2mm thick.
- Prepare boiled potatoes in their skin and keep warm in a covered container or on the grill.
- Put cheese in each of the raclette skillets and place them into the appliance. The cheese will be ready in 3-4 minutes.
- When the cheese has turned a nice golden-brown colour, serve it warm or pour it over the potatoes. Season with freshly ground black pepper.
Raclette is good with ham, Swiss beef (viande de Grison), shallots and gherkins.
Do not let the skillets heat while empty.
- Cooking stone setting
- Turn thermostat to desired temperature. The indicator light will go on. During cooking, the stone will take 5-10 minutes to register and respond to any changes in temperature.
- Each guest puts pieces of meat, fish, vegetables or fruit on the stone and cooks them to his or her taste.
- Serve with cold sauces, salad and potatoes.
Do not use the cooking stone for frozen or deep frozen food, or for thick pieces of food (max 2cm). Do not allow acidic products (vinegar, mustard, pickles, gherkins...) to come into contact with the cooking stone. Never rest any object on the cooking stone. The appliance should not be left for more than 30 minutes without food: the cooking stone will become too hot and will not operate well. The little cracks caused by the stone's dilation are natural and have no effect on its functioning. They are not therefore cause to return this product. After several uses the stone normally turns a permanent dark colour. The first time it is used, it may omit smoke or a slight odour.
- Grill/Crêpe griddle setting
- Turn thermostat to desired temperature. The indicator light will go on.
- Cut meat into small pieces; this shortens the cooking time. Serve the pieces of meat on a plate or wooden board, so that each guest can choose how much he/she would like and can cook it him/herself.
- You can grill toast, glaze or cook fruit, eggs, potatoes, etc.
Grilled foods can be served with various sauces, salads or bread. The griddle's concave surface is perfect for making crêpes and omelettes.
- Crêpe setting
- Turn thermostat to HIGH. The indicator light will go on.
- Pour batter onto the griddle and cook for 1-2 min. each side.
- The first time it is used, it may omit smoke or a slight odour.
- Do not touch the surface of the appliance - it is hot!
- Mix and match! Change it up and use all the settings.
- Raclette/grilled foods/crêpes
- Cooking stone/raclette
- Crêpe party.
If you want to change the plates/stone while the appliance is in operation (and still very hot), use an oven mitt to move them to a heat-resistant surface out of the reach of children and allow them to cool.
After use
- Turn thermostat to the Off position.
- Unplug appliance.
- Allow appliance to cool completely (wait for at least one hour before touching the cooking stone).
Keep the machine out of the reach of children while it is cooling.
Cleaning
The grill and crêpe plates, the skillets and the main body of the appliance can be cleaned in hot water with washing-up liquid (if desired). Use neither a metallic sponge nor scouring powder. Never immerse the appliance or the cord in water.
Instructions for cleaning the cooking stone:
Each cooking stone is a unique natural element. Depending on its porosity, yours may be more or less permeable. A cooking stone that has been immersed in water may crack or break the next time it is used. Wash the cooking stone under running water, rubbing it with an abrasive sponge then wiping it. Avoid soap and detergents. Never immerse a cooking stone - hot or cold -- in water. Do not leave to soak. Never put a cooking stone in a dishwasher.
