Frequently Asked Questions - VE–90RSABK VESTFROST

How do I clean the grease filter on my Vestfrost VE–90RSABK hood?
Remove the aluminum grease filter and wash it with warm soapy water or in the dishwasher. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling. Clean it at least once a month for optimum performance.
How can I replace the LED light?
Disconnect the hood from the power supply. Carefully pry off the LED module cover, unplug the defective module, and insert a compatible replacement. Reattach the cover and restore power.
Can I use my hood in recirculation mode?
Yes, you can install activated charcoal filters to operate the hood in recirculation mode. This eliminates the need for ducting and filters the air before returning it to the kitchen.
Why is my hood making an unusually loud noise?
Check if the grease filter is clogged or improperly installed. Also ensure the ducting is not blocked. A loose motor mount or debris in the impeller can also cause noise.
What duct diameter is required for the VE–90RSABK?
The recommended duct diameter is 150 mm. Using a smaller diameter may reduce airflow and increase noise.
How often should I replace the charcoal filter in recirculation mode?
Charcoal filters should typically be replaced every 3–6 months depending on usage. Replace them when the suction power diminishes or odors return.
How do I set the fan speed?
Press the speed button on the electronic touch panel to choose from 3 speeds. Speed 1 for low cooking, speed 2 for normal, and speed 3 for intensive odor removal.
What is the recommended installation height?
Install the hood at a height of 65–75 cm above an electric cooktop and 75–85 cm above a gas cooktop. Always follow the manual's safety clearances.
Does the hood have a filter saturation indicator?
Yes, the electronic control panel includes an indicator that alerts you when the grease filter needs cleaning. Press and hold the timer button to reset it after cleaning.
Can I install the hood without a chimney?
The VE–90RSABK is a chimney hood; it requires a chimney cover for proper appearance and ventilation. The chimney is adjustable to fit your ceiling height.

Operations

The appliance can be used as an extractor (extraction of vapors) or as an absorber (vapors are filtered and directed back into the room). Cooker hood models without engine operate exclusively as an extractor and must be connected to an external engine (not included). Relevant connection instructions are provided with the external engine

VESTFROST VE–90RSABK - Operations - 1

Cooker hood operating as an extractor

Vapors are extracted through an extraction pipe mounted on the joint flange.

Extraction pipe's diameter must be equal to joint flange's diameter.

Caution! Extracting pipe is not included with the appliance, it needs to be purchased separately.

In the horizontal section, the pipe must have slight upward inclination (approx. 10° ), to facilitate air outflow. If the cooker hood is equipped with charcoal filters, they must be removed.

Connect the cooker hood to the ventilation duct with an extraction pipe of diameter matching the size of the cooker hood's outlet (joint flange).

Usage of pipes with smaller diameter will decrease suction capacity and significantly increase cooker hood's noise level. Manufacturer cannot be held liable for this condition.

VESTFROST VE–90RSABK - Cooker hood operating as an extractor - 1

Use the shortest possible ducting.

Use ducting with as few bends as possible (maximum bend radius: 90°).

Avoid ducting with significant changes of diameter.

Use ducting with internal surface as smooth as possible.

Ducting must be made of material compliant with all applicable standards.

VESTFROST VE–90RSABK - Cooker hood operating as an extractor - 2

Cooker hood operating as an absorber

You must install a charcoal filter in order to use the appliance in this variant. You can buy a charcoal filter from the manufacturer or from an authorized service agent. Sucked air is cleaned of grease and odors and is directed back into the room through grills in the upper part of the hood.

Cooker hood installation

Minimum distance between the surface of the heating device, where the dishes are placed, and the lowest part of the cooker hood must be no less than 55 cm for electric cookers and not less than 65 cm for gas or hybrid cookers.

If gas cooker installation instructions recommend a larger distance, comply with these instructions.

VESTFROST VE–90RSABK - Cooker hood installation - 1

Mains supply connection

Mains supply voltage must match the voltage on the data plate located on the inside of the cooker hood. Cooker hood is equipped with a plug, which needs to be connected to the electrical connection socket compliant with current standards and located in an easily accessible place, also after installation is finished. Caution! Before you reconnect the cooker hood to the mains supply to check if it functions properly, ensure that the power cable is mounted correctly. Cooker hood comes with a special power cable. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced at an authorized service agent or at the cooker hood supplier's.

Cooker hood installation

Cooker hood is equipped with fixing anchors appropriate for standard walls and ceilings. It is necessary, however, to seek expert advice from a qualified technician, to make sure that the used materials are suitable for a particular type of wall or ceiling. Wall or ceiling must be strong enough to carry the weight of the cooker hood.

Cooker hood operation

If the air in the kitchen is contaminated, you should use the cooker hood at the highest speed setting. It is recommended to switch on the cooker hood 5 minutes before starting cooking and leave it running for approx. 15 minutes after cooking is finished.

3 / OFF 4 / TURBO DELAY 2 3 2 1 / OFF

1. On/off switch

Pressing this button when the cooker hood is switched off will put it at speed 1. Pressing this button when the cooker hood is operating will switch off the engine.

2. Speed increase

Pressing this button (when the cooker hood is on) increases the engine's speed from speed 1 to a higher speed level. Available speeds:

Button 2: speed 2

Button 3: speed 3

Button 4: intensive speed. Keeping the button pressed for a few seconds activates switch-off delay (15 minutes delay).

3. Light on/off switch

Pressing this button when the cooker hood is switched off will put it at speed 1. Pressing this button when the cooker hood is operating will switch off the engine.

Maintenance

Caution! Before starting any cleaning or maintenance work, the appliance must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply, by unplugging the power cable or switching off the main power switch.

Cleaning the cooker hood

Cooker hood must be cleaned frequently, both inside and outside (at least with the same frequency as for cleaning grease filters), using a cloth with a mild cleaning agent. Do not use abrasives.

DO NOT CLEAN WITH ALCOHOL!

Caution: Failure to comply with the rules concerning cleaning the appliance and changing filters can cause fire hazard. Therefore it is recommended to follow the instructions. The manufacturer shall not be liable for potential damage to the engine or for fire caused by failure to comply with the maintenance rules and instructions listed above.

Grease filter

Filters grease particles released during cooking.

Must be cleaned at least once a month (or when the filter saturation indicator – if your cooker is equipped with such an indicator – informs about the need to replace it), with a non-aggressive cleaner, by hand or in a dishwasher at a low temperature and in a short washing cycle. When cleaned in a dishwasher, metal grease filter may become discolored, but its functioning will not be affected. In order to remove grease filter, you need to pull the spring handle.

Charcoal filter

Charcoal filter can be used only, when the cooker hood is not connected to ventilation duct. Charcoal filter is capable of absorbing odors until it is fully saturated. It cannot be washed or regenerated and must be replaced at least once every 4 months or more frequently if used intensively.

Replacement of charcoal filter has been shown in Figure 18

Lighting replacement

Lighting installation consists of two LED bulbs, 3 W each.

Replacement of lighting has been shown in Fig. 21-22. If the lighting does not work, one has to check first if LEDs have been properly installed. If, after the check, lighting still does not work, contact an authorized service agent.

CAUTION: Do not touch demounted LED bulb with bare hands.
