4. OPERATION
Icons
- The icons react to touch, so there is no need to apply any pressure.
- Use the base of your finger, not the tip. Fig. 10
- You will hear a beep every time the hob detects a finger.
- Make sure the icons are always clean and dry and that no objects (for example, a utensil or a cloth) are covering them. Even a thin film of water can make it difficult to operate the icons.
Selecting suitable cookware
- Use only cookware with a suitable base for induction hobs.
- Look for the induction symbol on the packaging or on the bottom of the cookware.
You can check if your cookware is suitable with a magnet test. Move a magnet towards the cookware base (Fig. 11). If the cookware attracts it, this means that it is suitable for the induction hob. If you do not have a magnet:
- Pour some water in the cookware you wish to check and place it on one of the cooking areas.
-
If U does not appear on the display flashing and water heats up, the cookware is suitable. Cookware made of the following materials is not suitable: pure stainless steel, aluminium or copper without magnetic base, glass, wood, porcelain, ceramic, and earthenware.
-
Do not use cookware with serrated edges or with a curved base. Fig. 12
- Make sure the base of the cookware is smooth, flat against the glass, and of same size as the cooking area. Use cookware whose diameter is the same as the cooking area selected. The use of a slightly wider cookware will increase the efficiency of the energy used. If you use smaller cookware, efficiency will be affected. Always place the cookware at the centre of the cooking area. Fig. 13
- Always lift the cookware off the induction hob, do not slide it, as it could scratch the glass. Fig. 14
- The cooking areas adapt automatically, to a certain extent, to the diameter of the cookware. However, the bottom of the cookware must have a minimum diameter that corresponds to the corresponding cooking area. However, the bottom of the cookware must have a minimum diameter that is suitable for the cooking area in question.
| Cooking areas | Diameter of the cookware base | |
| Minimum (mm) | Maximum (mm) | |
| 180 mm | 140 | 180 |
| 180 mm | 140 | 180 |

Advice for cooking
- Be careful when frying, as oil and grease heat up very quickly. With extremely high temperatures, oil and grease can ignite spontaneously, causing a serious fire hazard.
- When food starts boiling, reduce the power.
- Using a lid will reduce the cooking time and save energy due to heat retention.
- Reduce the amount of liquid or grease to shorten cooking times.
- Start cooking with a high power setting and reduce it as food heats up.
Detection of small items
If you place unsuitable or non-induction cookware (e.g. aluminium) or other small objects (e.g. a knife, fork, or key) on the hob, the induction hob will automatically enter standby mode within 1 minute.
Setting the power level
The following settings are for guidance only. The exact setting will depend on several factors, such as the cookware, the quantity of food, its moisture content, etc. Test the induction hob to find the settings that suit you best.
| Heat setting | Suitable for |
| 1 - 2 | - lightly heating small amounts of food- melting chocolate, butter, and food that burns quickly- simmering- gradually heating |
| 3 - 4 | - reheating- quickly cooking- cooking rice |
| 5 - 6 | - crepes/omelettes |
| 7 - 8 | - stir-frying- cooking pasta |
| 9 | - stir-frying at a higher temperature- grilling- boiling soup- boiling water |
Cooking beef steaks:
- For juicy and tasty results:
- Leave the meat at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking it.
- Heat a frying pan.
- Brush both sides of the meat with oil. Spray a small amount of oil in the hot frying pan and place the meat.
- Turn the steak only once during cooking. The exact cooking time will depend on the steak thickness. Times may vary from 2 to 8 minutes per side. Press the steak to measure the cooking doneness: the firmer it is, the more "well done" it is.
- Let the steak stand on a hot dish for some minutes to prevent it from going soft before serving.
Sauté:
- Choose a compatible flat-bottomed wok or large frying pan.
- Have all the ingredients ready. Sauté quickly. If cooking large quantities,
- cook the food in several smaller batches.
- Preheat the frying pan briefly and add two tablespoons of oil.
- Cook the meat first, set aside and keep warm.
- Sauté the vegetables. When they are hot but still crisp, turn down the cooking power level.
- Place the meat back in the frying pan and add the sauce of your choice.
- Stir the ingredients gently to make sure they are heated through.
-
Serve immediately.
