We are pleased to share our philosophy : "the Spirit of Sound". Sib XL has been especially designed to hang on walls and match with Plasma or LCD on-wall flat screens. Sib XL fits right into the Focal tradition and, as such, benefits from outstanding technological expertise in stereo and home theater. In order to get optimal performance, we invite you to read carefully these instructions and keep that booklet handy so that you can refer to it later on. Features Aluminum dome tweeter with OAL (Optimum Acoustic Loading) phase plug: exceptional bandwidth up to 35kHz for wide dispersion, smooth and dynamic treble, compatible with new high performances audio format. Polyflex® cone woofers: high performance synthetic cone for high dynamic bass impact and detailed mid-range. OPC® (optimum phase crossover): phase optimization for a precise, natural and stable soundstage. Vertical or horizontal use: thanks to Polyfix system, Sib XL can used on wall in both positions or on optional stand. "On wall/free standing" switch: optimize the frequency response for "On wall" or "Free standing" use. Adjustable logo: for horizontal or vertical positionning. High rigidity ABS cabinets: rigid cabinet without any internal resonance. Twin aerodynamic port: for a vigorous bass reproduction. Magnetic shielded: Sib XL can be placed near a CRT without distorting the picture. Splash proof: can be used in a kitchen or bathroom, outside to shelter from the rain. Optional Hop and Bop stands. Run-in period The speakers are complex mechanical devices and require an run-in period before they deliver their best performance. They must get adapted to the temperature and humidity conditions of their environment. This run-in period depends on the encountered conditions and can last several weeks. In order to shorten this period, we advise you to let your loudspeakers operate for about twenty hours at medium level, playing standard musical programmes, but with a large amount of bass. Once the components of the loudspeakers are completely stabilized, it is possible to enjoy the real performance of your loudspeakers. Sib XL: user manual Connection As with any performance product, this speaker should be connected to the amplifier using a high quality pure copper cable of at least Ø 1.5mm. It is imperative to respect the connector polarity. The positive terminal "+" (red) must be connected to the corresponding (matching) amplifier’s terminal and the negative terminal "-" (black) to the negative terminal. Stereo image, soundstaging and bass perception would be seriously compromised if these conditions were not respected. "On wall: freestanding" switch By default, Sib XL is set on "On wall" mode. In that setting, Sib XL takes into consideration the supporting wall’s influence which always tends to artificially boost the bass level. If you use Sib XL on an optional stand away from the wall, prefer the "Freestanding" mode which will insure better bass reproduction. The "On wall/Freestanding" switch is located under the Polyfix plate and has to be configured properly before binding the loudspeaker.

Sib XL: user manual Sib XL is provided with a wall binding kit which allows both vertical and horizontal positioning. The Polyfix plate allows as well Sib XL to be fixed upon optional Hop long stands and Bop short stands. Check with your dealer for more details. Horizontal installation Sib XL

• Locate and mark Sib XL wall position making sure that the tweeter be leveled with the ear of a normally seated listener.
• Place the wall rest on to the wall and drill. Use only plugs fitting your wall material.
• If the loudspeaker cable is embedded in the wall, guide it through the wall mounted bracket’s opening as indicated.
• If the loudspeaker cable is fixed to the wall slide it under the wall mounted bracket as indicated.
• Guide the loudspeaker cable through the Polyfix plate as indicated.
• Connect the loudspeakers cables to the rapid push-button binding posts (pure copper wire at least 1.5mm in diameter).
• Attach the Polyfix plate to the loudspeaker with 4 screws as indicated. The hollow side of the plate must be directed to the loudspeaker’s inside.
• Clip the plate on the loudspeaker to the wall mounted bracket as indicated. Vertical installation Sib XL
• Rotate the Polyfix plate to the right angle for proper vertical positioning.
