Frequently Asked Questions - Exceed 2XT Silva Schneider

How do I turn the Silva Schneider Exceed 2XT flashlight on and off?
To turn the flashlight on, press the side push-button once. This activates the high mode (max brightness). Press again to switch to low mode, and a third press engages strobe mode. To turn the flashlight off, press and hold the button for about 1 second until the light shuts off.
What type of batteries does the Exceed 2XT require?
The Exceed 2XT flashlight operates on 2 AA (LR6) batteries. These are widely available and can be either alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries. Always insert the batteries with the correct polarity as indicated in the battery compartment.
Is the Exceed 2XT waterproof?
The flashlight has an IPX-4 rating, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction. It is not designed for submersion or heavy rain, but it can withstand minor moisture and wet conditions during outdoor use.
How do I replace the batteries in the Exceed 2XT?
To replace the batteries, unscrew the tail cap counterclockwise. Remove the old batteries and insert two new AA batteries with the positive (+) end pointing toward the head of the flashlight. Then screw the tail cap back on tightly to ensure proper contact.
What is the maximum light output of this flashlight?
The maximum luminous flux is 120 lumens, which is sufficient for most outdoor and indoor tasks. The beam distance reaches up to 80 meters, providing a decent throw for camping, hiking, or emergency use.
Can I use the Exceed 2XT for hiking and outdoor activities?
Yes, this flashlight is designed for outdoor use. Its impact-resistant body, IPX-4 splash-proof construction, and multiple lighting modes make it a reliable companion for hiking, camping, or trekking. The compact size also makes it easy to carry in a pocket or bag.
How should I clean and maintain my Exceed 2XT flashlight?
To maintain performance, wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth after use. Keep the battery contacts clean and free of corrosion by rubbing them gently with a pencil eraser if needed. If the O-rings become dirty or dry, clean them and apply a small amount of silicone grease to maintain water resistance.
Is it safe to look directly into the beam of the flashlight?
No, never aim the beam directly into your or another person's eyes. The high-intensity LED can cause temporary flash blindness or even long-term eye damage. Avoid covering the lens while the light is on to prevent overheating.
Can I use rechargeable batteries with this flashlight?
Yes, you can safely use NiMH rechargeable AA batteries. Note that rechargeable batteries typically have a different voltage curve compared to alkaline batteries, so the brightness levels may change slightly as the cell discharges. Always charge them fully before outdoor trips.
What should I do if my Exceed 2XT flashlight does not turn on?
If the flashlight does not turn on, first check that the batteries are inserted correctly and have sufficient power. If the batteries are new and the light still fails, inspect the O-rings and threads for debris and clean them. Also verify that the tail cap is tightened securely. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Silva Schneider service center.

SILVA EXCEED 2 AND FLOW LIGHT

Thank you for choosing Silva Exceed 2 headlamp. This headlamp can, thanks to the modular design, also be used on a helmet or a bike handle bar.

Exceed 2 is equipped with Flow Light which is a light distribution technology that combines a wide-angle flood light with a long reach spot light. If you aim the light beam of the Exceed 2 close to your feet by rotating the light body downward, the light image will be a wide flood light adapted for slower activities. If you aim the light higher up, further away, the light image will gradually transform into a long-distance spot beam, perfect for higher speed.

This unique feature gives the user peripheral or long distance vision depending on the activity or speed. For a runner, cross country skier, mountain biker or night orienteer this translates into less head movement, increased control, better balance and more speed
