How do I charge the Cross Trail 3X battery?

Open the rubber lid on the battery pack, insert the micro USB connector, and plug the USB end into a USB port. The LED shows red while charging and green when fully charged. Charging takes about 4 hours.

What does Flow Light technology do?

Flow Light lets you control the light beam by tilting the lamp vertically. Aiming low gives a wide flood light for slow activities; aiming high gives a long-range spot beam for high-speed activities.

How do I switch between light modes?

Press the button on the side to cycle through Max, Med, Min, Helmet mode (Flow light off), and Blink. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn off.

Can I use the headlamp on a helmet or bike?

Yes. The Cross Trail 3X has a modular design. You can mount it on a helmet using the included helmet bracket with adhesive, or on a bike handlebar (25-32 mm) with the bike bracket.

How do I attach the headlamp to a helmet?

Clean and dry the helmet surface. Remove the protective paper from the adhesive on the helmet bracket, press it onto the helmet, and click the headlamp body into the bracket.

What is the battery status indication?

After turning off the headlamp, a small LED on the front shows green if more than 70% battery remains, and red if less than 30% remains. It stays on for 5 seconds.

How should I store the battery for long periods?

Store the battery in a dry place at -20°C to +35°C. If storing more than 30 days, keep it at about 50% charge. Li-ion batteries self-discharge about 20% over 30 days.

Is the headlamp waterproof?

It has an IPX6 rating, meaning it is protected against powerful water jets, but should not be submerged.

How do I clean the headlamp and headband?

Clean the headlamp body with a damp cloth. The headband can be washed in a washing machine at 40°C.

What is the warranty period?

Silva provides a 2-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. It does not cover misuse or normal wear. Proof of purchase is required.

Thank you for choosing Silva Cross Trail 3X headlamp. This headlamp can, thanks to the modular design, also be used on a helmet or on a bike handle bar.

Cross Trail 3 and 3X are our first lamps featuring Flow light * - a technology that lets you control the light beam by tilting the lamp vertically and varies the light pattern infinitely depending on where you aim the light. Thus the lamp is adaptable for slow or fast activities.

The Cross Trail 3X headlamp packaging consists of the following parts:

BEFORE USE

BATTERY CHARGING

The battery needs to be charged before first use.

1. Disconnect headlamp from Battery
2. Open the rubber lid on the battery pack side and insert the micro USB connector on charge cable.
3. Insert the USB connector in a USB-port
4. On the battery there is an LED showing the battery status during charging:

- Red light = battery is charging

- Green light = battery is fully charged

Battery charging time is approximately 4 hours.

Note! When the battery is fully charged the battery automatically switches off charging. However, never leave the battery connected to a USB-port unattended for longer periods.

ADJUST THE HEADBAND

The elastic headband is designed to give a comfortable fit at speed during activities such as running, XC skiing etc. Adjust the headband by moving the sliding buckle to fit it onto your head.

FLEXIBLE BATTERY CARRYING

The battery pack can be carried in multiple ways; for example on the head band, in a pocket, backpack, on the waist or mounted on the bike frame by using the soft case with the integrated strap.

MODULAR SYSTEM

In order to move the headlamp body from the headband to either the helmet bracket or the bike bracket, gently push the lamp upward relative the head plate with head band. Insert the headlamp body in the new bracket and gently press it down until you hear a click sound.

MOUNTING THE HELMET BRACKET

The helmet bracket comes with pre mounted adhesive on the back for easy mounting on any helmet. The adhesive is a polyethylene foam tape developed to not damage or cause any type of weakness to the plastic in your helmet.

Before mounting the helmet bracket on a helmet, make sure the surface is dry and clean. Remove the protective paper from the adhesive tape on the helmet bracket. Gently press the helmet bracket to the helmet.

Depending on helmet type, it might be preferable to use the 4th light mode (Helmet mode - Flow light deactivated), when the Cross Trail 3X is used on a helmet.

With Flow light deactivated you can tilt the lamp in a preferable position without affecting the light beam.

MOUNTING THE BIKE BRACKET

The bike handlebar bracket is developed for use on bike handlebars with a dimension between 25 and 32 mm.

DURING USE

FLOW LIGHT®

The Cross Trail 3X headlamp is equipped with Flow Light ^a which is a light distribution technology that combines a wide angle flood light with a long reach spot light. If you aim the light beam of the Cross trail 3X close to your feet by rotating the lamp body downward, the light beam will be a wide flood light adapted for slower activities. If you aim the light higher up, further away, the light beam will gradually transform into a long distance spot beam, perfect for higher speed. This unique feature gives the user peripheral or long distance vision depending on the activity or speed. For a runner, cross country skier, mountain biker or night orienteer this translates into less head movement, increased control, better balance and more speed.

SWITCH ON YOUR HEADLAMP

On the side of the headlamp body there is a push button which controls all light modes.

Each press on the button gives you the following light:

1. Turns the headlamp ON with all LEDs in maximum power
2. Medmode
3. Minmode
4. Max mode with Flow light deactivated [helmet mode]
5. Blink
6. Starts over from 1 - Max mode

To turn OFF the headlamp; press and hold the button for 2 seconds.

TEMP CONTROL

The headlamp temperature will increase during use. The headlamp temperature is mainly depending on light mode, ambient temperature and the airflow (speed). The Cross Trail 3X headlamp is equipped with a temperature control function which prevents the headlamp body from overheating by reducing the power to the LEDs. This means that the lower the ambient temperature, the stronger the light output.

Note: Always make sure that the batteries are disconnected when the headlamp is stored in a closed compartment such as a bag, pocket or similar.

BATTERY INDICATION

When the headlamp is turned off a small LED is turned on inside the front of the headlamp to indicate the status of the batteries. The battery status indication LED will be on for 5 seconds after power off.

Green light – Battery in good condition (more than \~70% remaining) Red – Battery in poor condition (less than \~30% remaining)

LOW BATTERY WARNING

During operation of the headlamp there will be a low battery warning when 25-30% of the battery energy remains. This is done by flashing both LEDs for 1 second and repeated again after 5 seconds.

AFTER USE

MAINTENANCE

To make sure you get maximum performance from your Cross Trail 3X headlamp, clean it regularly with a damp cloth.

Headset cleaning – wash in washing machine at 40 °C.

ABOUT LI-ION (LI-PO) BATTERIES

- The battery should be stored in a dry environment within the temperature range of -20°C - +35°C .

• If you would like to store your battery for a longer period (more than 30 days) the battery should 50% charged.
  • Li-ion batteries have a discharge rate of approx. 20% over a 30 day period.
• Do not expose the battery for extreme temperatures which may cause fire or explosion.
• Do not disassemble or mistreat the battery, risk for chemical burn.
• Keep away from children.
• Do not submerge the batteries in water.
• Do not short circuit the contacts.
• Replace only with Silva battery.

Note! Always make sure to disconnect the battery when the headlamp is not used.
