How do I charge the Trail Speed 3XT battery?

Connect the battery to a USB port (computer, car, or USB charger) using the included USB cable. The 5 LEDs on the battery show charging status: red blinking means charging, all green means fully charged. Charging takes about 4 hours.

How do I switch between light modes?

Press the button on the left side of the headlamp briefly to turn it on and cycle through modes: Max, Med, Min, Max with Flow Light off, and Blink. Press and hold for 1 second to turn off.

What is Flow Light technology?

Flow Light combines a wide-angle flood light with a long-reach spot light. Tilting the headlamp changes the beam: low tilt gives flood, high tilt gives spot. This adapts the light to your activity speed.

Can I mount the Trail Speed 3XT on a helmet or bike?

Yes, the package includes helmet and bike handlebar attachments. For helmet, use adhesive tape or straps. For bike, wrap the rubber strap around bars 22-32 mm and hook it. Slide the headlamp into the bracket.

What does the low battery warning mean?

When 25% battery remains, the LEDs flash 2 times every 5 seconds. At 15%, they flash once. The lamp then enters reserve mode with reduced output for about 1 hour.

How should I store the battery for long periods?

Store in a dry place at -20°C to +35°C. For more than 30 days, keep battery at about half charge to avoid loss of characteristics. Li-ion batteries self-discharge about 20% per month.

Is the Trail Speed 3XT waterproof?

It has an IPX5 rating, meaning it is protected against water jets from any direction. It can withstand rain and splashing but should not be submerged.

What is the warranty period?

SILVA provides a 2-year warranty from the original purchase date against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Keep your proof of purchase for returns.

How do I check the battery status?

Press the button on the battery pack. The 5 LEDs indicate: 5 green = full, 4 green = 80%, 3 green = 60%, 2 green = 40%, 1 red = 20%. Keep the battery warm for maximum power.

Can I use other batteries with the Trail Speed 3XT?

It is compatible with any SILVA battery that has the same connector. However, the battery status indication may not be accurate with non-standard batteries. Always replace with SILVA batteries.

SILVA TRAIL SPEED 3 AND FLOW LIGHT

Thank you for choosing SILVA Trail Speed 3 headlamp. This headlamp can, thanks to the modular design, also be used on a helmet or a bike handlebar.

Trail Speed 3 is equipped with Flow Light which is a light distribution technology that combines a wide-angle flood light with a long reach spot light. If you aim the light beam of the Trail Speed 3 close to your feet by rotating the light body downward, the light image will be a wide flood light adapted for slower activities. If you aim the light higher up, further away, the light image will gradually transform into a long-distance spot beam, perfect for higher speed. This unique feature gives the user peripheral or long distance vision depending on the activity or speed. For a runner, cross country skier, mountain biker or night orienteer this translates into less head movement, increased control, better balance and more speed

BEFORE USE

BATTERY CHARGING (TRAIL SPEED 3XT)

The battery needs to be charged before first use.

1. Connect the battery to a USB port (either from a computer, car, or a USB charger/adaptor) using the included USB charge cable.
2. On the battery, there are 5 LEDs showing battery status during charging:

4. Red light blinking = battery is charging

Trail Speed 3 is compatible with all SILVA batteries with the same connector as on Trail Speed 3 battery. Note that the battery indication may not be accurate with other SILVA batteries.

Note! Never leave a battery unattended during charging.

SILVA TRAIL SPEED 3 - THE FLEXIBLE, MODULAR HEADLAMP

Trail Speed 3 is designed for multi-activity sports. Here is a description of the different options:

ERGONOMIC HEADSET

The headset is ergonomically shaped to give a comfortable fit. Use the 2 buckle adjustments to fit it perfectly to your head.

Attach the headlamp in the head bracket by sliding the headlamp foot into the snap-in socket. To remove, slide the headlamp up and out of the bracket.

BIKE HANDLE BAR ATTACHMENT

The bike handle bar attachment is developed for use on bike handlebars with a dimension between 22 mm and 32 mm. The bike bracket is attached to the handle bar by wrapping the rubber strap around the handlebar and fastening it on the plastic hook.

Attach the headlamp in the bike handle bar attachment by sliding the headlamp bracket into the snap-in socket.

To remove, slide the headlamp up and out of the bracket.

HELMET ATTACHMENT

The helmet attachment comes with pre-mounted adhesive tape on the back for easy mounting on any helmet.

To mount the helmet attachment, remove the protective film covering the adhesive tape. Make sure the surface of the helmet is clean and dry. Press the bracket onto its correct position.

If you do not want to use the adhesive on your helmet, the attachment is prepared for mounting with 2 or more straps on the sides. (Not included)

Attach the headlamp in the helmet attachment by sliding the headlamp bracket into the snap-in socket.

To remove, slide the headlamp up and out of the bracket.

FLEXIBLE BATTERY CARRYING

Trail Speed 3 is designed so that the battery can be carried in multiple ways. For example, in a battery carrier on your back, on the bike frame, on your belt, backpack, or on the back of your head unit, etc.

DURING USE

SWITCH ON YOUR HEADLAMP

A push button is located on the left side of the headlamp body. This button controls all light modes.

• To start the headlamp with Flow Light activated, press the push button with a short press.
• To cycle between the different modes, use short presses. • To turn the headlamp off, press and hold the button for 1 second.
• In the fourth mode – MAX FLOW LIGHT – OFF, the lamp runs in Max mode but Flow light is deactivated. This means that the light image will remain unchanged even if the headlamp is rotated up or down. This might be useful when the lamp is mounted on a helmet or a bike handlebar.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

Note that the headlamp body temperature will increase during use. The headlamp temperature depends on light mode, ambient air temperature, and airflow (speed). Trail Speed 3 is equipped with a temperature control unit that prevents the headlamp body from overheating by reducing power to the LEDs. This means that lower temperatures and better cooling generally result in stronger light output. On the other hand, higher ambient temperatures generally mean longer burn times.

Note! Always make sure to disconnect the battery when the headlamp is stored in a closed compartment such as a bag, pocket, or similar.

LOW BATTERY WARNING

During operation of the headlamp, there will be a low battery warning when 25% of the battery time remains. This is done by flashing LEDs for 1 second, 2 times, with a 5-second interval. When 15% remains, the LEDs will flash 1 time.

RESERVE MODE

During operation, the lamp will go into reserve mode when there is 15% power left in the battery. All LEDs will flash once before the lamp goes into this mode.

BATTERY STATUS INDICATION (TRAIL SPEED 3XT)

On the battery, there is a push button that activates battery indication LEDs. When pushing the button, 5 LEDs on the battery show battery status according to the following...

• 5 green LEDs = Fully charged
• 4 green LEDs = 80% of the battery remains • 3 green LEDs = 60% of the battery remains
• 2 green LEDs = 40% of the battery remains • 1 red LED = 20% of the battery remains

To get as much power as possible out of your battery, keep it away from low temperatures during use.

AFTER USE

MAINTENANCE

To ensure you get maximum performance from your Trail Speed 3 headlamp, clean it regularly with a damp cloth. For headset cleaning, rinse it in warm water.

ABOUT LI-ION BATTERIES

The battery should be stored in a dry environment within the temperature range of -20°C and +35°C. If you would like to store your battery for a longer period (more than 30 days), the battery should not be fully charged. This may cause loss of its characteristics.

Li-ion batteries have a discharge rate of approx. 20% over a 30-day period. You can always charge a half full battery without damaging its characteristics.

Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, which may cause fire or explosion.

Do not disassemble or mistreat the battery; risk of chemical burn.

Keep away from children.

Do not dispose of batteries in fire. This may cause an explosion.

Do not submerge the batteries in water.

Do not short circuit the contacts.

Replace only with SILVA batteries with the same connector as on Trail Speed 3 battery.

SILVA warrants that, for a period of two (2) years, your SILVA Product will be substantially free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. SILVA's liability under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the product. This limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser.

If the Product proves defective during the Warranty Period, please contact the original place of purchase. Make sure to have your proof of purchase on hand when returning the product. Returns cannot be processed without the original proof of purchase.
