How to start the engine when cold?

Open the fuel tap, turn the key to 'O', operate the choke (lift the carburetor lever), engage neutral or pull the clutch, then push the kick starter. After starting, turn the throttle grip fully to deactivate the choke (metal click).

What is the running-in period?

The running-in lasts first 500 kilometers. It is advisable to warm up the engine before riding, vary the revs, and avoid long distances at low revs. At the end of the running-in, have the vehicle checked at an official Aprilia dealer.

How to check the gearbox oil level?

Keep the vehicle upright. Unscrew the check screw (right side crankcase). The level is correct if the oil reaches the lower edge of the hole. If necessary, add oil through the upper filler hole.

Which oil to use for the gearbox?

Use oil SAE 75W-90 of API GL-4 quality or higher. Capacity is 820 cm³.

How to adjust the clutch?

Check that the lever free play is 3-4 mm. If necessary, adjust using the screw at the lever or the one on the engine casing. If the clutch slips or does not disengage properly, consult a dealer.

What is the recommended tire pressure?

Rider only: front 1.8 bar, rear 1.9 bar. With passenger: front 1.8 bar, rear 2.1 bar. Max pressure 2.5 bar. Check when cold (less than 1 km ridden).

How to clean the air filter?

Every 4000 km, remove the seat, take off the left side panel, then the airbox cover. Extract the filter element, wash with non-flammable solvent, dry, then soak with filter oil (SAE 80W-90) and squeeze out excess. Reassemble.

How to replace the headlight bulb?

For low beam: remove the rubber cap, disconnect the connector, extract the socket by acting on the V-spring. Replace the bulb. For position light: pull the rubber socket and change the bulb. Do not touch the bulb with fingers.

How to bleed the brake circuit?

Remove the cap from the bleed screw on the caliper, attach a transparent tube into a container. Pump the lever 2-3 times, hold it pulled, open the bleed screw to let fluid and bubbles out, close, release lever. Repeat until no bubbles. Use DOT 5 fluid (compatible with DOT 4).

How to maintain the battery?

Check electrolyte level monthly, keep between MIN and MAX with distilled water only. Keep battery charged, especially in winter (monthly charge). Charge at 10-20% of capacity (max 1 A for 5 Ah). Avoid reversing cables.
