How to insert the SIM card and microSD card?

Use the provided tool to open the tray located on the left side of the device. Insert the nano-SIM card and optionally a microSD card (up to 512 GB) into the designated slots.

How to activate NXTPAPER mode?

NXTPAPER mode is set in the display settings. You can choose a paper-like rendering to reduce eye strain. Activate it via Settings > Display > NXTPAPER.

Does the battery last a full day?

Yes, the 5000 mAh battery provides a full day of moderate use. The 18W fast charging can recover 50% in about 30 minutes.

How to take a screenshot?

Simultaneously press the power button and the volume down button for one second. The screenshot will be saved in the gallery.

Is the smartphone waterproof?

The TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G is not IP certified. It is resistant to light splashes but should not be submerged.

How to transfer data from my old phone?

Use the pre-installed Clone Phone app or a USB-OTG cable to connect both devices. Follow the on-screen instructions.

What is the camera quality?

The 50 MP main sensor takes good daylight photos. The macro and depth sensors are useful for close-ups and portraits. The 8 MP front camera is sufficient for selfies.

How to reset the device to factory settings?

Go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset). Back up your data first.

Does the phone support wireless charging?

No, the TCL 50 NXTPAPER 5G does not support wireless charging. Use the provided USB-C charger.

How to activate dark mode?

Go to Settings > Display > Dark mode to switch between light and dark themes. You can also schedule it automatically.

NXTPAPER mode

NXTPAPER mode offers superior image quality with reduced glare and reflections. Slide the NXTPAPER switch up or down to turn NXTPAPER mode on or off. You can select your preferred mode when it's on.

• Ink Paper Mode: Paper-like display effect with black ink on white paper, which brings an immersive e-ink like reading experience.
• Color Paper Mode: Low saturation and soft color display effect, bringing a paper-like experience to improve all-round eye comfort.
• Max Ink Mode: Close currently open apps in order to enjoy an immersive, low-power reading experience within your dedicated library.

Safety and use

Please read this chapter carefully before using your device. The manufacturer disclaims any liability for damage, which may result as a consequence of improper use or use contrary to the instructions contained herein.

The manufacturer's recommended operating temperature range is 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F). At over 40°C (104°F) the legibility of the device's display may be impaired, though this is temporary and not serious.

• Do not use a damaged device, such as a device with a cracked display or badly dented back cover, as it may cause injury or harm.
• Do not keep device connected to charger with battery fully charged for a long period of time as it can cause overheating and shorten battery life.
• Do not sleep with the device on your person or in your bed. Do not place the device under a blanket, pillow, or under your body, specially when connected to the charger, as this may cause the device to overheat.
• The NXTPAPER technology display avoids reflections and glare in the sunlight exposing, delivering a real paper and matte experience. This is done by diffusing reflection of external light. However under strong direct sunlight, this diffusion is greater and the viewing angle of the device is reduced. If this happens, you may need to adjust your viewing angle in order to be able to see the screen more clearly.

- The NXTPAPER display delivers a tactile feel, protecting against smudges or fingerprints. It produces a paper-like matte effect image and provides resistance. This screen surface is different to standard smartphones screens, please note that it is not possible to add any tempered glass as protection on top. The screen surface is more prone to scratches than a typical smartphone screen, please take care to avoid contact with other objects which could harm the display.
