Important: For your convenience this appliance is supplied complete with a plug incorporating a 13 amp fuse.

In the event of replacing a fuse in the plug supplied, a 13 amp fuse approved by ASTA to BS1362 must be used.

If the socket outlets are not of the 13A BS 1363 type, and therefore do not accept the plug connected to this appliance, cut off the plug.

When cut off, this plug is a shock hazard if inserted into a socket outlet and must therefore be disposed of safely.

If the fuse cover is detachable, never use the plug with the cover omitted. Replacement covers can be obtained from your service agent.

Fit the appropriate plug according to the instructions in paragraph «Fitting a plug». With alternative plugs a 15 amp fuse must be fitted either in the plug or adaptor or at the main fuse box.

APPLIANCES WITHOUT FITTED PLUG FITTING A PLUG - IMPORTANT

Usage Recommendations

USING THE APPLIANCE

  • Check that the steam control (D) is in ✕ position.
  • Plug the iron in.

Control the temperature with the thermostat control (J). The temperature control indicator light (H) will come on. It will go out when the soleplate has reached the required temperature.

When using the appliance for the first time, a little smoke may be given off. This will pass, and does not affect the quality of your iron.

FILLING THE WATER TANK (large capacity 300cm³)

  • Always unplug the appliance before filling the water tank.
  • Set the steam control (D) to ✕ position.

Fill the water tank via the refill hole (C) situated at the front of the iron.

Do not exceed the maximum fill level (L).

STEAM IRONING

According to the model, the steam output of your iron will vary between 5 to 20g or 25g per minute.

Select the steam output by setting the steam control (D) to the required sector.

Notes

Steam ironing is only possible within the range indicated on the thermostat control (J).

DRY IRONING

Set the steam control (D) to ✕ position.

SPRAY

Press button (F) in short bursts. The spraying of water allows the dampening of fabric when in dry or in steam position. This is very effective for smoothing out a crease.

⑥. SHOT OF STEAM

- Press the steam shot button (E). Your iron will let out an immediate powerful jet of steam.

Note:

  • Do not do more than 5 successive short bursts, this will prevent the iron from dripping.
  • Always use this function within the range indicated on the thermostat control (J).
  • When using steam shot for the first time, small deposits of scale may be thrown out

along with the steam, through the soleplate. We therefore recommend not to use the first jets of steam, in short bursts, on fabrics.

⑦. VERTICAL PRESS (according to model)

It is possible to use the iron in vertical position to press clothes on hangers, curtains etc.

- Set the thermostat control (J) to MAXI position.

- Hold the iron in vertical position near to the material without touching it. Press the button (E) at the rate of one short burst per second maximum. The produced steam is not always visible, but still retains its pressing power.

Note: You can do up to 5 short bursts when the iron is in vertical position. Return the iron to horizontal position for a few seconds and then resume vertical pressing.

Important:

  • It is not recommended that vertical press is used on synthetic fibres.
  • Always keep a distance between the iron and the material to avoid burning.
  • As the produced steam is always very hot, never press clothes when being worn by somebody. Always use clothes on a hanger.

“AQUA-STOP” (anti-drip) (according to model)

This system permanently controls the temperature of the soleplate. Below a certain temperature, the ‘Aqua-stop’ system cuts off the water flow, preventing it from dripping on to clothes.

Maintenance

SCALE COLLECTOR DEVICE (I) (according to model)

- Remove the scale collector device (I) regularly in order to remove scale deposits which have built up inside it.

- Carry out this operation before each use or when the soleplate is cold.

- With one hand, hold the iron by the handle (pointed end upwards)

- With the other hand, gently pull the collector with an upward and downward movement until it comes away from its housing.

- Empty the contents

- Replace the collector.

Note: The hardness of the water used will determine how often you need to carry out this procedure. We recommend every 3 months after each ‘auto-clean’.

"AUTO CLEAN" (every 3 months)

In order to reduce scale build-up, Moulinex has equipped your iron with a self-cleaning system which we recommend is used regularly. Follow these steps:

- Take the iron, cold and unplugged

  • Set the steam control (D) to the ✕ position.
  • Fill the water tank with the equivalent of one measuring beaker, set the thermostat control (J) to MAX. Plug in the iron. As soon as the temperature control indicator light (H) goes out, unplug the iron and, above a sink, turn the steam control (D) to the auto-clean position, letting the water tank empty completely. The water/steam mixture will take away the scale residue from the soleplate.
  • After 2 minutes, reset the steam control (D) to the ✕ position.
  • Slowly and carefully, tilt the iron from left to right to rinse the soleplate well and to remove any water remaining in the soleplate.
  • Plug the iron in again to dry the soleplate, doing this above a cloth.
  • When you have done this, unplug the iron again.
  • Drain the collector (according to model).
  • Clean the soleplate with a thick, clean, damp cotton cloth before putting the iron away or using it again (when the iron is cold).

Storage

After each use:

⑨- Empty the water tank. - Set the steam control (D) to the ✕ position. - Leave the iron to cool. ⑩- Wind the mains lead into a loop of around 10 cm. - Store the iron vertically on its base.

MOULINEX Ocealys 100 BA1 - WHICH TEMPERATURE TO USE - 4Attention: Do not iron this item of clothing

If the fabric is made up of different types of textile, set the control to the lowest recommended temperature. If you cannot find the composition of the fabric on the label, try to iron on a part of the item of clothing not clearly visible, starting with the lowest temperature.

If possible, try ironing a part of the garment that is not clearly visible, starting with the lowest temperature.

Sort out your clothes before ironing into groups of the same type of material. The iron heats up faster than it cools down, start with items requiring a lower temperature and work upwards (see table above). Woollens can be steam ironed. In order that the soleplate does not come into contact with the wool, place a dry piece of fabric on top of the item to be ironed. You can also iron the item inside out. To avoid marking delicate materials (silk, velvet, viscose, etc.) or for fabrics with printed designs (transfers, etc.) iron inside out. Certain stains become fixed at high temperatures, therefore it is better to iron clothes when not stained. WHAT TYPE OF WATER TO USE WITH YOUR STEAM IRON

Example of water considered hard

Enquire at your water board as to the hardness of your water. Commercial demineralised water, commercial distilled water

We strongly recommend you do not use other types of water:

We strongly recommend you do not use other types of water:

. water with additives (perfumes, essences, starch etc.) . Commercial mineral water . Rain water, thawed ice from the freezer, water from clothes dryer - they contain organic elements which could leave brown marks on your clothes. . water softened by domestic recycling installation

Maintenance of the soleplate

Clean regularly. The longer you wait to clean the soleplate, the more difficult the stains will be to remove.

  • Clean regularly. The longer you wait to clean the soleplate, the more difficult the stains will be to remove.
  • Do not scour the soleplate, and do not use rough or abrasive substances to clean the soleplate.

Traces of water, starch or scale

When the iron is cold, rub with a thick cotton cloth soaked in alcohol vinegar. Rinse immediately with water and dry.

Fabric stuck to soleplate

  • Leave the iron to cool for 30 minutes at least after unplugging, then plug in again and set the thermostat to Maxi position.
  • With the iron hot, place a clean cotton cloth on the ironing board and rub the iron soleplate vigorously onto it. To make this more effective, use the side of the ironing board. Do not forget to clean the sides of the soleplate.
  • Always use the temperature suited to the item of clothing or material that you are ironing.

Grooves

To keep stainless steel, chrome or non-stick soleplates in good working order, avoid grooves and dirty marks:

  • Do not rest the soleplate on a rough or abrasive support
  • Do not iron metallic parts of clothes (zips etc.)

Maintenance of the iron (auto-clean function) - for 3 hours' ironing per week:

  • If your tap water is not too hard, Moulinex recommend that you carry out a regular cleaning every 3 months
  • If your water is hard, mix it with distilled or demineralised water, and clean every month.

Note: If your water causes brown marks, it is because it contains organic substances. Clean the iron in this case. If the stains persist, you should change the type of water.

Moulinex do not recommend using descaling products (powder or liquid)

Ironing Board

Moulinex recommends a stable ironing board, at least 42 cm wide, equipped with a metallic grid-style support and very thick padding.

Board cover

Moulinex recommends a thick cotton ironing board cover.
