First Use of the Device/Introduction

• Select a proper place for the device such as a dry, and even non slip area where you can easily operate the device.
• Make sure the device is vented sufficiently!
• If still in place, remove the protection foil from the display.

- Before you use the speakers for the first time, they must be charged for approximately 6 hours. Refer to the section "Charging the built-in batteries of the speakers".

Power supply

• Insert the grid plug into a properly installed three prong socket with 230 V, 50 Hz. Connect the device with the plug connector by inserting its plug into the DC 7,5V jack of the device.
• Make sure the grid voltage corresponds to the figures on the rating plate.

CAUTION:

• Only use the supplied power adaptor for this device. Do not use for other devices.
• Only use power adaptor with 7.5 V (⊖-C-⊕), other adaptors may cause damage to the device.

i NOTE:

Disconnect from mains power supply during longer periods of non-use.

Insert/Replace Battery in Remote Control

i NOTE:

Where necessary, the lithium cell in the battery compartment of the remote has been fitted with a protective foil for transport. This extends the lifetime of the battery. Before initial use please remove this foil to prepare the remote for use.

The battery in the remote is a long-life lithium cell. Should the range of the remote shorten during use, follow the steps below:

• Open the battery compartment on the underside of the remote.
• Replace the cell with a battery of the same type (CR 2025). Make sure the polarity is correct.
• Close the battery compartment.

If the remote is not in use for a lengthy period of time, please remove the battery to prevent the battery acid from "leaking".

WARNING:

• Do not expose batteries to intense heat or direct sunlight. Never throw batteries onto a fire. Danger of explosion!
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children. They are not toys.
• Do not force batteries open.
• Avoid contact with metallic objects. (Rings, nails, screws etc.) Danger of short circuits!
• Short circuits may overheat or even ignite batteries. This may lead to combustion.

WARNING:

• When transporting the batteries, cover the terminals for your safety with an adhesive strip.
• If a battery leaks, do not rub the fluid into the eyes or the skin. If acid comes into contact with the eyes, rinse with purified water and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

CAUTION:

Do not dispose of batteries with household waste. Please take used batteries to an authorised collection point or to a dealer.

Explanation of the LED Indications

• Power indication base station (5):

• Unit switched on = LED lights blue
• Unit in standby = LED lights red

- Speaker charge indication (4):

• Not charging = LED not lit
• Charging = LED flashes blue
• Charging completed = LED lights blue

• Power indication speakers (7):

• Speakers switched off (OFF) = LED not lit
• Not connected = LED slowly flashing blue
• Connection being established = LED quickly flashing blue
• Connected = LED lights blue
• Battery weak = LED lights red

• Operation indication transmitter (16):

• Connection being established = LED quickly flashing red
• Connected = LED slowly flashing red
• Transmitting = LED lights red

iPod/iPhone Compatibility

Due to the large variety of iPod and iPhone models and generations on the market, full compatibility cannot be guaranteed. Before connecting your iPod/iPhone, ensure that it has a compatible interface.

Full compatibility of the remote functions also cannot be guaranteed. Operate your iPod/iPhone as normal, while it sits in the docking station.

i NOTE:

Depending on the software version of your iPhone the following error message may be displayed:

"This accessory was not developed for iPhone use. It is possible that noise occurs and signal strength is reduced."

In this case press "OK".

General Operation

i NOTE:

Some buttons you can find as well on the device as on the remote control. Identical buttons effect the same function.

Switch Base Station On/Off (1/1)

There are two methods:

• Press the ⏻ button on the unit to switch the base station on or off.
• Press /ENTER on the remote control for 3 seconds to switch the base station on or off.

The power indication (5) indicates the function.

Switch Speakers On/Off

The speakers are switched off when the switch (10) is set to OFF. Slide this switch to the position ON to switch on the speakers. The power indication (7) indicates the function.

Volume

The volume of the base station can be controlled with the +/- buttons (3/3).

i NOTE:

• When the volume has been reduced with the +/- buttons (6) on the speakers, the volume of the base station can be increased only up to this value.
• The speakers always are started with the max. volume when they are switched on.
• When the speakers are operated on the base station, the volume automatically is reduced to approximately 80% to enable charging.

Infrared Remote Control

For wireless control within a distance of 8 m. If the distance decreases you should change the batteries. For proper operation mind a clear view between the remote control and the sensor on the device.

Connection of Audio Transmitter and Speakers

Before you can use the unit, you must connect the audio transmitter with the speakers. Proceed as follows:

1. Insert the audio transmitter (14) into the slot on the rear of the unit (see Fig. 2).
2. Switch on the unit with the ⏻ button (1). The power indication (5) lights blue.
3. Set the R/L selector on the speakers to "R" or "L"

respectively. In this way you specify which of the speakers is to play the right or the left audio channel.

1. Switch on one of the speakers. Do this by sliding the speaker ON/OFF switch (10) to "ON".
2. Press the connection button "C" (11) for approximately 3 seconds. A beep can be heard for approximately 15 seconds. The power indicator of the speaker (7) rapidly flashes blue.
3. Now press the connection button "5) on the audio transmitter (14) for approximately 3 seconds. A steady tone can be heard for a short time. The operation indication (16) of the audio transmitter rapidly flashes red. The connection process has been initiated.

i NOTE:

After successful completion of the connection process,

• the power indication on the speaker lights blue.

• the operation indication on the audio transmitter is slowly flashing red.

• To connect the second speaker with the audio transmitter, proceed as described in steps 4 to 6.

Music Playback from iPod/iPhone

(iPod/iPhone not supplied)

1. Insert your iPod or iPhone into the dock (2).

CAUTION:

Make sure that your iPod/iPhone is plugged upright into the port. Do not bend or tilt the iPod/iPhone whilst it is plugged into the port. This may cause damage to the dock or the iPod/iPhone.

1. Depending on the iPod/iPhone Model, firstly release the button lock and start playing music if necessary with the ▶ II button (4 on RC).
2. Follow your iPod/iPhone manual for further use of the controls.

i NOTE:

If you have an incoming call when playing back music with the iPhone docked, then playback stops and you can hear the ring tone.

Description of iPod/iPhone Controls

▶ II/M (4)

• You can pause and continue music playback. Press again to continue playback.
• Keep this button pressed for 3 seconds to call the iPod/iPhone menu or to return to the previous menu.

i NOTE:

The music application must have been started already for this.

Press 1 x = Restart of the song from the beginning.

Press 2 x = Skip to the previous song.

Press 3 x = Skip to the song before the previous song, etc. Press and hold during playback to search in reverse through the song.

Press to skip to the next song and the following songs.

Press and hold during playback to search forward through the song.

/ENTER (1)

Press this button to activate a function or to display the next menu.

iPod/iPhone Charging

Your iPod/iPhone battery is charged as soon as the iPod/iPhone is docked. To do this, the unit must be connected to the mains.

i NOTE:

• Not all iPod/iPhone generations support the charge mode.
• The duration of the charging process depends on the iPod/iPhone which is used and its operating condition.

Play Music from the PC

i NOTE:

The description may differ depending on the operation system and its settings.

1. Insert the audio transmitter (14) into a free USB port of your Windows PC.
2. The first time you do this, the monitor will display "Found new hardware". Wait until your PC has found and installed the required device drivers.
3. After the device drivers have been installed, click on "Sound and Audio Devices" in "Control Panel". In the tab "Sound" select the option "SYNIC Wireless Audio" as "Standard device" for "Sound reproduction".
4. Switch on (ON) the speakers with the speaker ON/OFF switch (10).

i NOTE:

If the speakers have not yet been connected with the audio transmitter, proceed as described in the section "Connection of audio transmitter and speakers".

1. Now the speakers can be used as PC speakers. Play your music files on the PC in the usual way (for example with the Windows Media Player).

i NOTE: Important!

Set a low volume with your music playback program. Slowly increase the volume only after the speakers have been switched on. Set a pleasant volume.

1. Adjust the volume with the +/- buttons (6) on the speakers.

i NOTE:

• The speakers always are started with the max. volume when they are switched on.
• This operation does not require the base station to be switched on.

AUX IN Jack (13)

Connect analogue playback device here. Connect playback devices such as MP3 player, CD player, etc. to listen to the music via the speakers.

1. Connect the external device via 3.5 mm stereo jack to the AUX IN socket.
2. The unit automatically switches to AUX operation.
3. You will find further instructions in the manual of your external sound source.
4. Listen to music playback from external playback devices via the speakers. Press the +/- buttons (3/6/3) to set the volume level.

i NOTE:

Set the volume of the external device to a reasonable level.

Charging the Built-in Batteries of the Speakers

The speakers are operated via built-in rechargeable lithium batteries.

When the power indication (7) of the speaker lights red, the charge of the lithium battery is exhausted and the battery must be recharged.

Proceed as follows to charge the speaker batteries:

1. Set the speakers onto the recessed charging areas of the base station. The speaker charge indication (4) flashes blue.
2. Once the speaker charge indication lights with steady blue, the lithium battery has been charged.

i NOTE:

• The duration of the charging process depends on the operation status and the remaining charge of the battery. We recommend that you switch off the speakers while charging.
• When the speakers are operated on the base station, the volume automatically is reduced to approximately 80% to enable charging.

Cleaning

• Before cleaning disconnect from mains power supply.
• Clean the device with a soft damp cloth without detergents.
• Do not submerge the device in water.
