Frequently Asked Questions - Dustex 35 MX Fein

How to change the vacuum cleaner filter?
To change the filter, unplug the device, open the filter compartment, remove the old filter and insert the new one. Make sure the filter is correctly in place before closing. See the manual for the compatible filter type.
Can I vacuum liquids with the Dustex 35 MX?
Yes, this vacuum cleaner can vacuum liquids. Make sure not to exceed the indicated maximum level and empty the tank after use. The anti-overflow device automatically stops suction in case of overflow.
What to do if the vacuum cleaner does not turn on?
First check that the socket works and the cable is not damaged. Make sure the tank is properly closed. If the problem persists, check the filter which may be clogged and clean it. Contact after-sales service if necessary.
How to clean the vacuum cleaner tank?
After each use, empty the tank. To clean it, rinse with clean water and dry completely before putting it back. Avoid abrasive products that could damage the surface.
The hose is blocked, what to do?
Disconnect the hose and visually check if there is a blockage. Use a long, flexible object (like a coat hanger) to dislodge the obstruction. If the blockage persists, you can disassemble the sections of the hose for thorough cleaning.
Where to find spare parts for the Dustex 35 MX?
Spare parts are available on the official Fein website, from authorized dealers, or through after-sales service. You can order filters, hoses, nozzles and other accessories specific to your model.
How to empty the tank easily?
Unlock the tank by turning the latches, then lift it. For solid waste, empty into a trash bin. For liquids, use the drain (if present) or gently tilt the tank over a sink.
Is the noise level normal?
The indicated noise level is 72 dB(A). If the vacuum becomes louder, check that the filter is not clogged or that debris is not blocking the turbine. Regular maintenance helps maintain a normal noise level.
Can I use dust bags with this vacuum cleaner?
The Fein Dustex 35 MX operates without a bag. It uses a cartridge filter that is cleaned regularly. Using bags is not intended for this model.
How to maintain the cartridge filter?
To clean the filter, operate the manual shaker (if equipped) to dislodge dust. You can also wash it with warm water (no detergent) and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace it every 6 months or according to usage.

WARNING

The vacuum cleaner contains materials that are hazardous to one's health. Have the emptying and maintenance, incl. the disposal of dust-collection containers, carried out only by specialists. Appropriate protective equipment is required. Do not operate the vacuum cleaner without the complete filter system. Otherwise there is danger to your own health. This vacuum cleaner is also suitable for use with AC generators with sufficient power output that correspond the the Standards ISO 8528, design type G2. This Standard is particularly not complied with when the so-called distortion factor exceeds 10 %. When in doubt, please refer to the generator instructions/specification guide.

Special safety instructions.

This vacuum cleaner is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and/or knowledge.

Supervise children. This will ensure that they do not play with the vacuum cleaner.

WARNING

Operating personnel must be appropriately

instructed in the use of this vacuum cleaner. Before usage, the person operating the vacuum cleaner must have been provided with information, instructions and training on using the vacuum cleaner and the materials to be vacuumed, including the safe procedure for disposal of vacuumed materials. The person operating the vacuum cleaner must observe the relevant safety regulations for the materials being vacuumed.

Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on application, use face shield, safety goggles or safety glasses. Where appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing protectors, gloves and workshop apron capable of stop-

ping small abrasive or workpiece fragments. The eye protection must be capable of stopping flying debris generated by various operations. The dust mask or respirator must be capable of filtrating particles generated by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.

Operate the vacuum cleaner only from socket outlets with earthing contact that are according to regulations. Use only undamaged supply cords and regularly checked extension cords with earthing contact. A protective conductor without continuity can lead to electric shock.

The earthed connection socket discharges static charges. In connection with electrostatically discharging accessories (optional), this prevents the formation of sparks and current surges.

When wet vacuuming, operate the vacuum cleaner only when the container is level. Otherwise there is danger of electric shock from water penetrating into the vacuum cleaner motor.

Do not misuse the power supply cord to pull the vacuum cleaner around or pull the mains plug from the socket outlet. Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil sharp edges, or moving parts. Do not drive over or pinch the power supply cord. Damaged or entangled power supply cords increase the risk of an electric shock.

Before replacing accessories, pull the mains plug from the socket outlet.

This safety measure reduces the risk of electric shock.

Do not vacuum materials that are hazardous to one's health, e. g., dust from beech or oak wood, masonry dust, asbestos. These materials are considered carcinogenic.

Provide for good ventilation of the workplace.

Do not vacuum inflammable or explosive fluids; for example, benzene, oil, alcohol, solvents. Do not vacuum hot or inflammable dusts. Do not operate the vacuum cleaner in rooms where the danger of an explosion exists. The dusts, vapours or fluids can ignite or explode.

Do not rivet or screw any name-plates or designs to the vacuum cleaner. If the insulation is damaged, protection against an electric shock will be ineffective. Adhesive labels are recommended.

Do not use accessories not specifically intended or recommended for this vacuum cleaner. Just because the accessory can be attached to your vacuum cleaner, it does not assure safe operation.

Before starting operation (see page 6-12), check the power supply cord and the mains plug for damage.

Fein Dustex 35 MX - WARNING - 1

WARNING

Use the vacuum cleaner's socket

outlet (see page 11) only for connection of an external power tool. The vacuum cleaner is automatically put into operation via the connected power tool.

The connected load of the power tool must not exceed the maximum connected load of the vacuum cleaner's socket outlet P_A .

en

Please also observe the operating instructions and safety warnings of the power tool being connected to the socket outlet of the vacuum cleaner.

Recommendation: Always operate the vacuum cleaner via a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual current of 30 mA or less.

The vacuum cleaner may only be stored indoors.

The allowable ambient temperature when vacuuming is -10^ to +40^ .

Using the vacuum cleaner at low temperatures is not permitted. At low temperatures, the mains cable can become damaged and thus impair the safety.

Operating Instructions.

Operation, see page 11/12.

An adequate ventilation rate L must be provided for when the outgoing air is circulated. The circulated airflow must not exceed 50 % (max.) of the fresh air volume (room volume x ventilation rate L_w ). The following applies without special ventilation measures: L_w = 1 h^-1 .

In case of a short-circuit and/or heavy discharge of dust, switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately and disconnect it from the power supply.

Fein Dustex 35 MX - Operating Instructions. - 1

Do not use the vacuum cleaner as a step or stepladder. If the vacuum cleaner tips over, you injure yourself or damage the m cleaner.

Flat-fold filter

Changing the filter, see page 13-15/37 Section "Fault Finding."

Wear personal protective equipment (respiratory mask, protective gloves) when changing the filter.

The filter may only be changed in rooms suitable for this, where other persons are not at hazard.

After removing the contaminated filter, clean the clean-gas side and the sealing surfaces using commercially available, non-scouring cleaning agents and water.

Fein Dustex 35 MX - Flat-fold filter - 1

CAUTION

Never vacuum with- out the flat-fold

filter, as otherwise the motor will become damaged and increased output of fine dust may pose a hazard to one's health.

For vacuuming dusts of dust category L or M, only dry flat-fold filters may be used that never were moist nor wet.

Before switching from wet to dry vacuuming, allow the flat-fold filter to dry or replace through a dry one. Otherwise, the flat-fold filter will become unusable.

Keep the flat-fold filter dry and clean it regularly.

Disposal bag, fleece filter bag (see page 8)

Only for Dustex 35 MX ( ^** ): For vacuuming fine dust and for low-dust disposal, a disposal bag or fleece filter bag must additionally be used.

When inserting, work the disposal bag over the container rim. Pull the other opening of the disposal bag completely over the collar of the vacuum socket.

To remove, work the disposal bag up, and pull it out toward the rear via the vacuum socket. Seal off the disposal bag with the closing strip.

After vacuuming wet debris, always remove the disposal bag.

When inserting a fleece filter bag, take care that the closing cover and the fleece filter bag face completely against the inside wall of the container. The cardboard flange of the fleece filter bag must be pulled over the collar of the vacuum socket.

After removing the fleece filter bag, seal it with the closing cover in order to avoid debris.

Audio signal (see page 12)

Only for Dustex 35 MX ( ^** ): Set the selector switch for the vacuum-hose diameter to the appropriate value.

When the air velocity falls below 20 m/s, an audio signal will sound. Empty the container and/or check the vacuum system for clogs.

Vacuum cleaner socket outlet (see page 11)

The switch position for switching the vacuum cleaner on is shown on page 11/12.

In switch position the vacuum cleaner automatically starts as soon as the power tool connected to it is switched on.

Switch the vacuum cleaner off before connecting a power tool to the vacuum cleaner's socket outlet. Make sure that the power tool is switched off when inserting its plug into the vacuum cleaner's socket outlet.

After switching off a power tool connected to the vacuum cleaner's socket outlet, the vacuum cleaner will run on for approx. 15 seconds and then automatically switch off.

Wet vacuuming (see page 17)

When wet vacuuming electrically conductive liquids, the vacuum cleaner is automatically switched off (automatic shut-off) when reaching the maximum filling height of the container. Pull the mains plug from the socket outlet and empty the container.

When wet vacuuming electrically non-conductive liquids (e. g., oils, drilling emulsions), the vacuum cleaner is not automatically switched off when reaching the maximum filling height of the container. Empty the container in time.

Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately as soon as foam or water comes out, and empty the container.

After completion of the wet vacuuming, clean the sensors and their intermediate area using a brush (see page 16).

Accessories (see page 9/20)

Mount accessories applying only slight pressure. For disassembling, turn the parts somewhat against each other and pull apart.
