Specified Conditions of Use

The flux cored electrode welding device is exclusively intended for domestic use and is not suitable for commercial use.

The flux cored electrode welding device is intended for self-protecting flux cored electrode welding using the correct wire.

The device is an arc welding device with a limited duty cycle and corresponds to class A according to standard 60974-10. The device is suitable for occasional industrial and commercial purposes, as well as occasional short work in the hobby and DIY sector.

We have made technical documentation for dismantling, spare parts lists, circuit diagrams and a list of recyclable materials available for you on the Internet. You can access the technical documents using the QR code or the corresponding link below the technical Data of these instructions.

No additional gas is required. The protective gas is contained in the wire in powdered form, is thus fed directly into the arc and this makes the device resistant to wind when used outdoors.

Only wire electrodes which are suitable for the device may be used.

Observing the safety instructions, the assembly instructions and the operating instructions in the user manual also constitutes part of the proper use.

The valid accident prevention regulations must be adhered to strictly..

The welding device may not be used:

  • in rooms that do not have sufficient ventilation
    • in a damp or wet environment,
    • in an explosive environment,
    • to defrost pipes,
  • close to people who have a pacemaker and
  • close to flammable materials

Please note that our equipment has not been designed for commercial, craft or industrial use. If the equipment is used in commercial, craft or industrial operation or for similar activities, we cannot assume any liability.

Do not use this product in any other way as stated for normal use. Not observing general regulations in force and instructions from this manual does not make the manufacturer liable for damages.

Requirements for operating staff

The operating staff must carefully read the Operating Instructions before using the appliance.

Since the use of the device if handled incorrectly can entail considerable risks, only knowledgeable persons may be entrusted with the use of it.

The operator must be appropriately trained in setting up, operating and using the machine.

Qualification: Apart from the detailed instructions by a professional, no special qualification is necessary for appliance using.

Minimum age: Persons over 18 years of age can only work on the appliance. An exception includes youngsters trained in order to reach knowledge under supervision of the trainer during occupational education.

Training: Using the appliance only requires corresponding training by a professional or the Operating Instructions. No special training is necessary. The operator is responsible for accidents or risks to third parties.

Residual Risk

Despite the observance of the operating instructions there still may be some hidden residual risks.

Even when the flux cored electrode welding device is operated properly, there are still residual risks associated with the use of the device FThe following hazards may arise in connection with the construction and design of this flux cored electrode welding device:

  • Eye injuries as a result of glare,
  • Touching hot parts of the device or the workpiece (burn injuries),
  • In the event of improper protection, the risk of accidents and fire as a result of spraying sparks or slag particles,
  • Emissions which have adverse health effects as a result of smoke and gas, in the event of lack of air and/or insufficient extract ventilation in closed rooms.

Reduce the residual risk by operating the flux cored electrode welding device carefully and properly and follow all instructions..

Emergency procedure

Conduct a first-aid procedure adequate to the injury and summon qualified medical attendance as quickly as possible. Protect the injured person from further harm and calm them down.

Keep your work area clean and tidy. Untidy work places and workbenches increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

The device and packaging are not toys.

Comply with the local injury prevention regulations and safety regulations in the work area.

Please note that permissible uses for the tool could be limited by national regulations.

Do not use accessories which are not specifically designed and recommended by the tool manufacturer.

The device may not be placed in a narrow space or directly against a wall during functional operation. Only in this way can it be ensured that sufficient air gets into the opening slit.

CAUTION! Improper handling may lead to the flux cored electrode welding device overheating or to material damage.

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.

Check the machine for any damage

The appliance must not be used if damaged or safety equipment is defective. Replace any worn-out and damaged parts.

The device must not be operated if it is damaged in any way.

Repairs and works specified in these Instructions may only be performed by qualified authorised staff.

Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.

Electrical safety

Warning: This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. Under certain circumstances, this field may affect active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we recommend that individuals with medical implants consult your physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant before operating the machine.

Persons with life support devices such as pacemakers should consult their doctor before approaching this apparatus, to ensure that magnetic fields and high electrical currents will not interfere with such devices.

Operation is only allowed with a safety switch against stray current (RCD max. stray current of 30mA).

Insert the plug of the electrical cable in a socket of suitable shape, voltage and frequency complying with current regulations.

Incorrect electrical installation, a supply voltage which is too high or incorrect handling may lead to an electric shock. Any electric shock may be fatal.

Use extension cables with a maximum length of 5 meters and with a cable cross-section of not less than 1.5 mm2. Use of extension cables of different length and cross-section and also of adapters and multiple sockets should be avoided.

Caution! Danger due to electric shock!

If the arc is not burning, the no-load voltage between the earth terminal and the contact tip is U0. This voltage may be fatal if the welder touches the contact tip, burner nozzle, welding wire and the workpiece with bare hands.

- It is essential to take into account that the protective conductor in electrical systems or devices may be destroyed by the welding voltage in the event of negligence:

e.g. the earth terminal is placed on the welding device housing, which is connected with the protective conductor of the electrical system. The welding work is carried out using a machine with a protective conductor connection. It is therefore possible to use the machine for welding work without having affixed the earth terminal on the machine. In this case, the welding voltages moves from the earth terminal to the machine via the protective conductor. The high welding voltage may lead to the protective conductor melting.

• The fuses on the supply lines to the power sockets must comply with the regulations (VDE 0100). Therefore, according to these regulations, only fuse and/or automatic circuit breakers which correspond to the wire cross-section may be used (16 ampere circuit breakers).

A fuse which does not correspond to the system may lead to a cable fire and/or building fire damage.

Overloaded supply networks and circuits may lead to faults for other users during the welding process. In case of doubt, the electricity company must be consulted.

Only connect the flux cored electrode welding device to a socket which is easily accessible so that you can quickly disconnect it from the power grid in the event of a fault.

Check the cable and/or socket for damages before the appliance putting into operation.

Cables must always be fully unwound in order to prevent the hazard posed by increased electromagnetic fields.

Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. Lay the power cable so that it does not become a trip hazard.

Do not operate the flux cored electrode welding device if it has any visible damage or the power cable and/or mains plug is defective.

Do not bend the power cable.

Protect all cables against oil, sharp edges and high temperatures.

Defective cable or plug may cause electric shock.

Do not pull the service cable to pull the plug out of socket.

The power supply cable is a high-quality cable which must not be damaged. When carrying out your work, ensure that you do not contact the cable with hot objects. If the connection cable is damaged, this must be replaced with a special connection cable which can be obtained from the manufacturer or its customer service department.

The connection cable may only be replaced by the manufacturer or its customer service department or individuals with similar qualifications.

Protect the flux cored electrode welding device against moisture and only use it inside in dry conditions.

Never immerse the flux cored electrode welding device, the power cable or mains plug in water or any other liquids.

Never touch the flux cored electrode welding device or the mains plug with damp hands.

Ensure that you do not come into direct contact with the welding circuit.

The no-load voltage between the contact tip and the earth terminal may be dangerous.

Never insert sharp and/or metallic objects into the device.

Do not expose yourself or other persons without protection to electric arc or hot metal. Spraying welding pearls may cause burns.

A suitable welding shield, protective clothes and protective gloves to be worn at all times.

Work with an exhaust system or in well ventilated spaces.

Ensure that there are no persons who are not wearing protective clothing and eye protection within a range of 15 m of the arc. Protect yourself and any persons who are nearby against the possible hazards caused by the arc!

Caution! Risk of accidents due to splashing slag particles

The slag becomes hard and brittle after it has solidified. The slag hammer is then used to break the slag up into small pieces with sharp edges, which is associated with a risk of eye injuries.

Therefore, ensure that your eyes are protected with suitable safety goggles when removing the slag.

Burning slag and sparks may cause fires and explosions. The device must never be used in a flammable environment.

Caution! Risk of beams and burns

  • At the workstation, it is important to make reference to the risk of eye injury with a sign which reads "Caution – do not look into the flames!".
  • The workstations should be shielded off as much as possible to protect people who are nearby.
  • Unauthorised persons must not be involved with the welding work.
  • In fixed workstations which are nearby, the walls should not be painted in a light colour and should not be shiny.
  • Windows must be protected against light shing through or reflecting beams up to at least head height, e.g. using suitable paint.

Keep the flux cored electrode welding device, the mains plug and the power cable away from open flames and hot surfaces.

Do not weld on containers, vessels or pipes which have contained flammable liquid or gases.

Wood, sawdust, „varnishes“, petrol, kerosine, natural gas, acetylene, propane and similar flammable materials must be removed from the place of work and the surrounding area or protected against sparks flying away.

Caution! Fire hazard due to spraying sparks

If the molten or burning metal or slag particles land on flammable substances, these may ignite and cause a fire. Therefore, remove all flammable objects from your workspace before commencing welding work. Keep a suitable fire extinguisher to hand.

In this regard, take the following materials into consideration in particular:

• Paper
• Rags
- Textiles
- Wood and wood fibres
- Rubber
- Plastic
- Petrol
• Oils
- Tar-like substances
- Paints and solvents

No welding or cutting on vessels and pipes if they are open, containing materials able to explode due to heat or moisture or able to cause other dangerous reactions.

Caution! Explosion hazard and fire hazard due to welding sparks

Both the welding sparks and the welding point itself, which is heated to high temperatures, may cause explosions. Therefore, do not use the device in a potentially explosive environment where substances such as flammable liquids, gases and paint mist are present.

Please note:

  • When the flux cored electrode welding device is in operation, do not place the burner on the flux cored electrode welding device itself nor on any other electrical device.
  • Before finishing your welding work, do not touch the contact tip itself nor any other metal objects which touch the contact tip.
  • Disconnect the power supply to the device immediately after completing your welding work.
  • It is essential to ensure that no cables become wrapped around your body.
  • It is essential to ensure that you are not within the welding circuit. The burner and earth must always be on the same side.

No welding or cutting on closed vessels and pipes. Never use the welder to defrost frozen pipes.

The respective national guidelines and laws must be observed when carrying out welding work. This relates, in particular, to the respective accident prevention provisions.

The flux cored electrode welding device may only be positioned on an even and flat base.

Wear sturdy, insulated footwear; the shoes should also perform their insulation function when wet. Low-rise shoes are not suitable since burning metal droplets which fall downwards cause burns.

Wear suitable clothing and do not wear any synthetic clothing.

Do not look into the arc without eye protection; only use welding protective shield with the proper protective glass pursuant to DIN. The arc also emits UV radiation, in addition to light and heat radiation, which may cause glare and/or burns. The invisible ultraviolet radiation causes very painful conjunctivitis, which is only noticeable a few hours later, if sufficient protection is not worn. In addition, the UV radiation causes damaging sunburn to areas of the body which are not protected.

Persons or assistants near to the arc must also be made aware of the risks and provided with the necessary protective equipment. If necessary, protective walls are to be constructed.

No welding work may be carried out on containers in which gases, fuels, mineral oils or similar have been stored, even if they have been empty for a long time already, as residues lead to an explosion hazard.

In spaces at risk of fire and explosion, special regulations apply.

Welded joints which are subject to great strain and must always meet the safety requirements and may only be welded by welders who have received special training and obtained the relevant qualifications.

Examples include: Pressure vessels, sliding rails, hitches etc.

• Significant quantities of smoke and gases are created during welding work. Ensure that the smoke and gases can always be removed via a suitable opening. However, an oxygen supply must never be added. This increases the fire hazard.

When working in small or hot rooms, insulating bases and interim layers, as well as gauntlets made from leather or other non-conductive materials, are to be used to insulate the body against the floor, walls, conductive parts of the device and similar.

trode welding device may not exceed 48 V\~ in idling conditions (effective value). The device may thus be operated in this case on the basis of its output voltage in idling conditions.

Caution! Risk of accident due to spraying sparks

The spraying welding sparks may lead to painful burn injuries.

Therefore, always observe the following instructions:

• Always wear a leather apron.
- Use leather gloves.
- Wear suitable head protection when welding overhead.
- Ensure that your trouser legs cover the tops of your shoes.
- Wear sturdy, insulating footwear.

Whilst working, the welder's entire body must be protected against radiation and burns by means of the clothing and face protection.

Gauntlets made from a suitable material (leather) must be worn on both hands. These must not be damaged.

Suitable aprons must be worn to protect the clothing against flying sparks and burns. If the nature of the work, e.g. overhead welding, requires this, a protective suit must worn and, where necessary, this must also include suitable head protection.

The protective clothing which is used, as well as all the accessories, must be compliant with the "Personal Protective Equipment" Regulation (2016/425).

Class A (IEC 60974-10):

If you intend to use the apparatus in residential surroundings supplied by the low voltage mains supply, an electromagnetic filter may be required to suppress electrical disturbance to a level where they will no longer be a nuisance to the user.

The apparatus may be used in industrial or other areas where power is not supplied by municipal LV mains.

Class A apparatus are not intended for use in residential areas where power is supplied via municipal LV mains, since unfavourable power conditions may cause interference.

As a user, you must make sure, after consultation with your energy provider, if necessary, that your point of connection on which the machine is to be operated meets the requirements above.

Machine to be always unplugged before any adjustment and servicing work on it.

Prior to every use, visually check the machine to rule out any defects, in particular on the power cable and the plug.

WARNING The appliance must not be used if damaged or safety equipment is defective. Replace any worn-out and damaged parts.

If necessary, a list of spare parts can be found at www.guede.com.

If the device is defective, the repair has to be made exclusively by an authorized customer service.. Use only original accessories and original spare parts.

Never clean the machine and its components with solvents, flammable or toxic liquids. Us only a damp cloth making.

Use a soft brush to remove the deposited dust from the ventilation hole and moving parts after each use.

ENGLISH

Only a regularly maintained and treated appliance can serve as a satisfactory aid. Insufficient maintenance and care can lead to unforeseen accidents and injuries.

If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.

Storage

The appliance must be stored in a dry place and protected from frost.

Leave the device to cool after use.

Do not cover the device directly after use or place in a cabinet.

Lock the device in a proper place to protect it from unauthorised use.

Disposal

The disposal instructions are based on the icons placed on the appliance or its package.

Transport packaging disposal

The packaging protects the machine against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually chosen based on environment aspects and waste treatment principles and are therefore recyclable. Returning the packaging into material circulation saves raw materials and reduces waste production. Parts of packagings (e.g. foils, styropor®) can be dangerous for children.

Do not dispose of electrical appliances in household waste; use the local collection points. Ask your local authority where the collection points are to be found. If electrical equipment is disposed of in an uncontrolled manner, weathering can lead to dangerous substances entering the groundwater and from there the food chain, or the flora and fauna can be poisoned for years. If you replace the device with a new one, the seller is legally obliged at the least to take back the old one to be disposed of free of charge.

Warranty period of 12 months applies to commercial use and 24 months applies to private use and commences on the day of purchase of the device.

The guarantee solely covers inadequacies caused by material defect or manufacturing defect. Original payment voucher with the sales date needs to be submitted for any claim in the guarantee period.

The guarantee does not cover any unauthorised use such as appliance overloading, use of violence, damage as a result of any unauthorised interference or caused by foreign items. Failing to follow the operating and assembly instructions and common wear are also not included in the guarantee.
