Frequently Asked Questions - KF 1901 SF MIELE

How to install the refrigerator side by side with another appliance?
Use the Miele juxtaposition kit (provided). Follow the installation instructions: remove the mounting frames, attach the half-hinges, install the heating plate, then connect the appliances. Two people are required to avoid injury.
What is the ideal temperature for the fridge and freezer?
For the fridge, set between 2°C and 8°C (recommended 4°C). For the freezer, maintain at -18°C. Use the internal controls to adjust.
How to clean the inside of the refrigerator?
Unplug the appliance. Remove food and shelves. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products that could damage surfaces.
What to do in case of prolonged power outage?
Keep doors closed to maintain cold. Frozen food can be kept for up to 24 hours. Do not refreeze thawed food without cooking it first.
How to activate vacation mode?
Vacation mode reduces energy consumption. Consult the manual to activate it, usually via the control panel. Don't forget to remove perishable items before leaving.
The refrigerator makes an unusual noise, is this normal?
A slight humming is normal due to the compressor. If the noise becomes loud or irregular, check the balance and positioning of the appliance. Contact a technician if the noise persists.
How to replace the interior bulb?
Unplug the appliance. Remove the bulb cover (often clipped). Unscrew the old bulb and replace it with a new one of the same type (often E14, 10W max). Put the cover back.
The door seals are damaged, how to replace them?
Order original Miele seals. To replace them, unclip the old ones and clip the new ones. Make sure the door closes perfectly to prevent cold loss.
Can I freeze fresh food directly?
Yes, but respect the freezing capacity indicated (approximately 10 kg/24h). Wrap food airtight. Avoid putting hot food in the freezer.
How to save energy with my refrigerator?
Place the appliance in a cool place, away from sunlight. Do not leave the door open. Clean the condensers regularly. Set the temperature to just the necessary level.

This merging kit should be used for side-by-side installation of the following models:

  • K 18x1 SF, K 19x1 SF
  • F 14x1 SF, F 18x1 SF, F 19x1 SF
  • KF 18x1 SF, KF 19x1 SF

For side-by-side installation of appliances with a stainless-steel front, you also need a top-frame.

Contact Miele to obtain a top-frame in the required width. The width of the top-frame corresponds to the total width of your side-by-side combination.

Before you begin

Please read all instructions in this manual, as well as the manual which accompanied your machine, before installation and use.

This appliance is top-heavy and must be secured to prevent the possibility of tipping forward.

Keep the doors closed until the appliance is completely installed and secured per the installation instructions.

To reduce the risk of injury or damage to the product, two people should be used for installation.

Side-by-side

If the appliances are installed directly next to each other (without a partition), they need to be attached together. A heating mat must also be installed. This will help avoid condensation and prevent damages.

Installing the heating mat will increase energy consumption.

... with partition

The minimum thickness of the partition is 5/8" (16 mm).

If there is a partition with a thickness from 5/8" (16 mm) to 6 5/16" (160 mm) between the adjacent appliances, then each appliance should be individually installed within its own niche using the mounting accessories included.

Heating mat, less than 6 5/16 inches (160 mm).

In this case, you will only need the heating mat from the "Merging Kit" to avoid condensation and prevent damages.

Installing the heating mat will increase energy consumption.
