How to descale the Nespresso Essenza Automatic XN2101 machine?

Use a Nespresso descaling sachet. Pour the contents into the water tank, fill to the Max level. Run the cycle without a capsule. Repeat with clear water to rinse. Consult the manual for more details.

What type of capsules to use?

This machine works exclusively with original Nespresso capsules (standard format). Do not use incompatible generic capsules.

How to adjust the water volume for an espresso or lungo?

Press the corresponding button (espresso or lungo). The machine doses automatically. For manual adjustment, hold the button during extraction and release at the desired amount.

What if the machine no longer heats up?

Check that the water tank is properly placed and filled. If the problem persists, perform a descaling cycle. If nothing changes, contact Krups after-sales service.

How to clean the drip tray?

Remove the drip tray and grid. Wash them with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Do not put in dishwasher.

Why does the machine turn off automatically?

The automatic shut-off function activates after 9 minutes of inactivity. To turn it back on, press one of the buttons.

Can I use reusable capsules?

It is not recommended to use reusable capsules as they may damage the extraction system. The warranty does not cover damage caused by non-compliant capsules.

How do I know when to empty the used capsule container?

The container holds up to 8 capsules. You can empty it after each use or when the drawer is full. Open the top lid to access it.

What does the flashing indicator light mean?

An orange flashing light indicates a need for descaling. Perform the descaling cycle as soon as possible. A solid red light may signal a technical fault.

Avoid risk of fatal electric shock and fire.

• In case of an emergency: immediately remove the plug from the power socket.
• Only plug the appliance into suitable, easily accessible, earthed mains connections. Make sure that the voltage of the power source is the same as that specified on the rating plate. The use of an incorrect connection voids the guarantee.

• Never use a damaged or deformed capsule. If a capsule is blocked in the capsule compartment, turn the machine off and unplug it before any operation. Call the Nespresso Club or Nespresso authorized representative. Always fill the water tank with cold, fresh drinking water.
• Empty water tank if the appliance will not be used for an extended time (holidays, etc.).
• Replace water in water tank when the appliance is not operated for a weekend or a similar period of time.
• Do not use the appliance without the drip tray and drip grid to avoid spilling any liquid on surrounding surfaces.
• Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to clean the surface of the appliance. To clean the machine, use only clean cleaning tools.
• When unpacking the machine, remove the plastic film and dispose of it.
• This appliance is designed for Nespresso coffee capsules available exclusively through the Nespresso Club or your Nespresso authorized representative.
• All Nespresso appliances pass stringent controls. Reliability tests under practical conditions are performed randomly on selected units. This can show traces of any previous use.
