SAFETY INFORMATION
- Please read the following information and keep it for future reference.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or with lack of experience or lack of knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person who is responsible for their safety or have been instructed on how to use the appliance.
- Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
- Connect appliance only to an AC power supply with voltage corresponding to the voltage on the rating plate.
- Do not operate this appliance with an external timer or remote control system.
- Never immerse the appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.
- The base should never come into contact with water or other liquids. In case this ever
happens, it must be completely dry before operating the appliance again.
- Do not clean the electric kettle or the base in a dish-washer.
- Never touch the appliance or power cord with wet hands.
- This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
■ staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
■ farm houses;
■ by client in hotels, motels and other working environments;
■ bed and breakfast type environments.
- For safety reasons, never place the appliance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet surface.
- Do not place the appliance or power cord near open flames during operation.

Always use the electric kettle on a level, uncluttered and heat-resistant surface.

Make sure that the power cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.
- Route the power cord so that there is no possibility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.
- Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.
- Use the electric kettle only indoors.
- Use the appliance only for heating water. Do not use it to heat milk or other liquids, since they will boil over when heated.
- Never heat objects such as cans or bottles in the electric kettle.
- Make sure that the lid of the appliance is always completely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
- Do not open the lid as long as the water is boiling, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
- Never fill the appliance with more than 1.7 liters of water, to prevent the water from boiling over.
- Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in the kettle.
- Make sure that all users, especially children, are aware of the danger of injury from emerging steam or hot splashing water – danger of burns!

Do not move the appliance as long as it is in operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.

The electric kettle features boil dry protection, which means the appliance shuts off automatically if the heating element becomes too hot. Allow the appliance to cool about 15 minutes. Then fill the electric kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.
- Do not use the appliance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.
- Unplug the appliance from the power supply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.
- Check the appliance, the plug and the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, please send the appliance or the base for inspection and repair to our after sales service (for address, see warranty terms). Unauthorized repairs can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Caution!
Do not open the lid while the water is boiling. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water can splash out.
The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties.
BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME
- Remove all packaging materials and any transport safety devices.
- Clean all parts with a damp cloth, as described in the chapter "Cleaning and care" on page 12.
- Connect the appliance to the mains supply by means of the lead cable (230 V\~, 50 Hz).
- Take the kettle jug from the base.
- To fill the kettle jug with water, release the lid by pressing the button on the upper part of the handle. Fill the kettle jug with clear, cold water up to the „Max“ mark.

Press the lid slightly until it locks into place.

Put the kettle jug straight on the base in order to establish the electrical contact with the base.
- Check if the appliance is placed firmly.
- Switch the appliance on by pushing the switch up to the position „Kochen“ [„Boil“]. If the kettle jug is not placed correctly, it will not be possible to turn the appliance on.
- The automatic shutoff will switch the appliance off when the water is boiling.
- For hygienic reasons, pour the water of the first boiling away.
OPERATION
- Take the kettle jug from the base.
- To fill the kettle jug with water, release the lid by pressing the button on the upper part of the handle.
- Fill the kettle jug with at least 0.5 litres of water. The maximum capacity of the kettle jug is of 1.7 litres („Max“ mark).
- Close the lid by pressing slightly until it latches into place.
- Put the kettle jug straight on the base in order to establish the electrical contact with the base.
- To boil water, switch the appliance on by pushing the switch up to the position „Kochen“. The switch lights up in blue. The water will be heated to 100 °C.
- To boil water for e.g. green tea, switch the appliance on by pushing the switch down to the position „Heisswasser“. The switch lights up in red. The water will be heated to approx. 75 °C, which is the ideal temperature for tea. Please bear in mind that the mode „Heisswasser“ will not work if in the same boiling process water has been heated in the mode „Kochen“ and achieved a temperature of more than 75 °C.

If the kettle jug is not placed correctly, it will not be possible to turn the appliance on.

The automatic shutoff will switch the appliance off when the water has achieved the pre-adjusted temperature.
- When the kettle jug is lifted from the base, the automatic shutoff is activated, even when the water has not yet reached the pre-adjusted temperature.
- If you desire to finish the boiling process earlier, just lift the kettle jug from the base. The automatic switch-off will disconnect the appliance.
- Caution! The automatic shutoff only works when the lid is closed properly.
- In case you need to boil more water, first leave the appliance to cool off for a couple of minutes.
- Boiling water may cause scalding. Please handle the appliance with care when it contains hot water.
- The appliance features boil dry protection, which automatically shuts the appliance off when operated without water or with resistant calcinations. Please let the appliance cool off shortly before filling the kettle jug with water again, respectively descale the appliance as described in the chapter „Descaling“ on page 12.
CLEANING AND CARE
- Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.
- Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power supply.
- Do not immerse the base, power cord or kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dishwasher.
- Wipe off the base and the kettle with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing detergent. Do not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel
wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, since they can damage the appliance.
- The appliance must be completely dry on the outside before you use it again.
DESCALING
- The lime scale filter has to be cleaned regularly. Please empty the kettle completely and allow it to cool off. Carefully remove the filter from the pour spout. Clean the filter carefully with a soft brush under running water. You can also place the filter in a bowl with a descaling solution. Then
rinse the filter with clear water and insert it in the pour spout.

To keep the appliance operating efficiently and to prolong its service life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hardness of your water.

To descale the kettle, fill it no more than half full with a solution of half water and half household vinegar. Bring the liquid to a boil and leave it in the kettle for a while.

Pour the descaling solution out of the kettle.
-
Then fill it with fresh water and bring to a boil. Pour this water out as well. Then rinse the kettle at least twice with clear water.
- Of course, you can also use commercially available descaling products; please follow the instructions on the package.

We guarantee our appliances for 24 months, or in case of commercial use for 12 months, from the date of purchase in case of defects that occur during normal use and are demonstrably due to a factory fault. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
CONDITIONS DE GARANTIE
Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal.
Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic products.
By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment.
