SAFETY & WARNINGS

Read these instructions carefully before use and save this user guide for future reference.

Important

Before plugging the power plug into the electrical outlet, inspect the heater to ensure it is intact and has not suffered any damage during transit.

Caution

• The heater must always be placed on a flat and stable surface.
• To avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cutout, this heater must not be powered through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off.
• Use only the voltage specified on the rating label of the heater.
• Do not use extension cords or ungrounded (two prong) adapters.
• Do not operate the heater when no one is home or when you are sleeping. Always unplug the heater when not in use.
• Keep combustible materials such as furniture, cushions, bedding, paper, clothes, curtains etc., at least 1m away from the heater.
• Do not hang anything on, in front of or on top of the heater.
  • Always use the heater in an upright position.
• Do not place the heater against walls, furniture, curtains, etc.
• Do not use the heater in rooms less than 4m^2 .
• Do not pull the power cord. Firmly hold the plug and pull it out from the electrical outlet.
• Ensure there is at least 1m of free space in front and 50cm of free space behind the heater.
• Do not let animals or children touch or play with the heater. Children should be supervised around the heater as the air outlet gets hot during operation.
• Do not cover the heater to prevent overheating.
• Do not use this heater in the vicinity of showers, bathtubs, sinks, swimming pools, etc.

• Do not use the heater in rooms containing explosive gas, inflammable solvents, varnish, or glue.

• Keep the heater clean. Do not allow any objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause electric shock, fire, or damage to the heater.

• Do not use the heater if it has been dropped or damaged. Do not attempt to repair the heater yourself. If the heater is damaged, contact help.Kogan.com for support.

- Do not use the heater to dry clothes or fabric.

- Do not move the heater while in operation to avoid overheating and the risk of fire.

- If the power cord is damaged, cease use immediately and contact help.Kogan.com to have it replaced.

- The heater must not be located immediately below an electrical outlet.

- Do not use this heater with a programmer, timer or any other device that switches the heater on automatically, as it is a fire risk if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly.

- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the heater.

- This heater can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the heater in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

- Cleaning and user maintenance must not be made by children without supervision.

- Children of less than 3 years should be kept away from the heater unless continuously supervised.

- Children aged from 3 to 8 years shall only switch on/off the heater if it has been placed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the heater in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

- Children aged from 3 to 8 years must not plug in, operate, clean, or perform maintenance on the heater.

- Do not leave the heater unattended when plugged in to the electrical outlet.

Caution

Some parts of the heater can become very hot and cause burns. Do not touch hot surfaces. Particular attention must be given where children and vulnerable people are present.

This heater is intended to be portable and for domestic use only.

INSTALLATION

Connect the x2 feet with the wheels attached to the heater's casing and secure using the x6 provided ST4x12mm screws (3 per foot).

CONNECT TO SMARTERHOME™ APP

Install app

Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

To register:

1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, select 'Log In'. To register a new account, select 'Sign Up'.
2. The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap 'Get Verification Code' to continue.
3. A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
4. Continue to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.

Set device in pairing mode

When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (the Wi-Fi icon will be flashing rapidly).

If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device in pairing mode by pressing and holding the mode button on the display screen for 5-10 seconds until you hear a beep, and the Wi-Fi icon starts flashing rapidly (twice per second).

Add device through network

1. Once registered, tap "Add Device" on the app's home page, or the "+" in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.
2. Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Heating & Cooling > Heaters).
3. Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

Notes:

• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
  • The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.

• Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in opposite order.

• Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator flashing rapidly, and tap "Confirm light is rapidly flashing".

• The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
• After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

Once connected, you can select Create Scene from the “+” in the upper right corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHome™ products and automate their functions.

Having trouble connecting?

The prior steps detail the process for “EZ Mode” connection. If that does not work for your connection, we suggest trying it again, and if still no success, attempting the following method for AP Mode connection.

Set device in AP pairing mode

Set the device in pairing mode by pressing and holding the mode button on the display screen for 5-10 seconds until you hear a beep, and the Wi-Fi icon starts flashing slowly (once per second).

Using AP Mode to add device

1. Follow the previous steps to select your product type (Heating & Cooling > Heaters).
2. Adjust your connection method by tapping on the mode type in the top-right corner of the screen. Select "AP Mode" for the set-up type.
3. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi icon flashing slowly, and tap "Confirm light is slowly flashing".
4. Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

• Follow the in-app prompts to continue AP Mode connection, which will pair your mobile phone to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot to ensure a connection. This may be named "SL-KoganSmart", "SmartLife-XXXX", or another similar name.

Note:

If the Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear on your phone in the list of available networks, your device may not be set in AP Pairing Mode correctly. Try repeating the steps outlined above to ensure your device is ready for connection.

1. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Note:

You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home app

1. From the home page of the Google Home app, select the "+" icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the 'Add and manage' page.
2. Select 'Set up device', then select the 'Works with Google' option.

1. Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
2. From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
3. Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.

1. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
2. Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.

By signing in, you are authorizing Google to control your devices. Authorize You can make permission at any time.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Alexa app

1. From the home page of the Alexa app, select the “≡” icon in the bottom-right and select “Skills & Games” from the sidebar.
2. Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.

FUNCTIONS

Power

Press the power button on the remote or display screen to power the heater on/off. The room temperature will illuminate on the display screen.

Mode

• Press the mode button on the remote or display screen to select a mode.
• The 📁 icon will illuminate on the display screen when low is selected, and the ⚙️ icon will illuminate when high is selected.

Temperature Selection

• Press the temperature button on the remote or display screen to select the desired temperature from a range of 10^-45^ .
• The temperature icon will illuminate briefly and then the display screen will show the room temperature again.

Timer

Press the timer button on the remote or the display screen to select the desired timer duration between 1 and 24 hours.

Child Lock

• Press the timer and temperature buttons on the display screen at the same time or press the child lock button on the remote to turn the child lock on/off.
• 'CL' will illuminate on the screen when child lock is activated.

Automatic Dimming

If there is no user input for 3 minutes, the digital display screen will dim by 50%.

Frost

• Press the frost button on the remote to turn frost mode on. 'Fr' will illuminate on the display screen.
• The heater will automatically enter low mode when the room temperature is lower than -5°C, and will stop heating when the room temperature reaches 5°C.
• Press the frost button to turn frost mode off.

CLEANING & CARE

• Before cleaning, always unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
• Clean the air inlet and outlets frequently.
• Never use abrasive powders or solvents to clean the holder.
