SAFETY & WARNINGS

When using any electrically powered appliance, these basic safety precautions should always be followed.

To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to persons or property:

• To avoid overheating, keep the vents clear of dust and hair build up, especially if you have indoor pets.
• Use only the voltage specified on the rating label of the appliance.

• Do not cover the vent by placing the appliance against a surface. Keep all objects at least 1 metre from the front, side and rear of the appliance.

• This appliance heats up when in use. To avoid burns, do not touch the front of the appliance or any of the vents.
• Before moving the appliance, unplug the power plug and allow it to cool.
• Do not use the appliance to dry clothes.
• Do not insert or allow foreign objects or metal utensils into any ventilation or exhaust openings as this may cause an electric shock, fire or damage to the appliance.
• Do not operate in bathrooms, laundry areas or similar moist indoor locations. Never locate the appliance near water.
• Do not immerse in liquid or use the appliance near water as this could create an electrical shock hazard.
• If the appliance accidentally gets wet, switch off the power supply and do not touch the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. If this occurs, contact help.Kogan.com.
• Do not operate the appliance with wet hands.
• Do not connect the appliance to the mains voltage until completely assembled and adjusted.

• This appliance is not intended for outdoor use.
  • Always operate upright on a flat surface only.

• This product is not suitable for use on long pile carpets.

• Unroll the power cord before operating. Operating with a coiled cord may cause overheating and fire risk.
• The use of an extension cord with this appliance is not recommended.
• Do not remove the plug from the electrical outlet until the appliance has been switched off.
• Always hold the plug when removing it from the wall, do not pull the cord.
  • Always unplug the appliance when it is not in use.
• Do not allow the cord to come in to contact with the appliance surface during operation.
• Do not run the cord under carpeting, mats, rugs etc. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas so that it will not be tripped over.
• Do not twist, kink or wrap the cord around the appliance as this may cause the insulation to weaken and split.
• This appliance is intended for light domestic use and not for heavy duty commercial or industrial use.
• The appliance must not be located immediately below or in front of an electrical outlet.
• Do not use this appliance with any type of external timer.

Warning - Keep Batteries Out of Reach of Children

- Swallowing may lead to serious injury in as little as 2 hours or death, due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus.

- If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a button battery, immediately call the 24-hour Poisons Information Centre on 13 1126 for fast, expert advice.

- Examine devices and make sure the battery compartment is correctly secured, e.g. that the screw or other mechanical fastener is tightened. Do not use if compartment is not secure.

ASSEMBLY

1. Carefully turn the heater upside down.

2. Press the wheels into the feet.

3. Place the screws in the holes in the centre of the feet and screw them in tightly with a screwdriver (not provided).

Notes:

- The heater should only be operated at a minimum distance of 1 metre from any wall or other object.

- Position the vent to optimise the heating of the room.

Install App

Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

To register:

1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, select 'Log In'. To register a new account, select 'Sign Up'.
2. The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap 'Get Verification Code' to continue.
3. A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
4. Continue to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.

Set device in pairing mode

When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (the Wi-Fi indicator will be flashing).

If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device in pairing mode by pressing the temperature and timer buttons at the same time until the Wi-Fi indicator flashes.

Add device through network

1. Once registered, tap "Add Device" on the app's home page, or the "+" in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.
2. Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Heating & Cooling > Heaters).
3. Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

Notes:

• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
  • The device is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.

• Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in opposite order.

• Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator flashing, and tap "Confirm light is rapidly flashing".

• The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
• After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

Once connected, you can select Create Scene from the “+” in the upper right corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHome™ products and automate their functions.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Note:

You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding "SmarterHome" to the Google Home app

1. From the home page of the Google Home app, select the "+" icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the 'Add and manage' page.
2. Select 'Set up device', then select the 'Works with Google' option.

3. Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.

1. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
2. Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.

By signing in, you are authorizing Google to control your devices. Authorize You can make permission at any time.

OPERATION

First use

1. Place the heater upright on an even, stable surface.
2. Unwind the power cord and plug the heater into an electrical outlet (observing the instructions regarding positioning). Ensure the voltage of the heater is the same as in your home.
3. Press the power button to switch the heater on. The digital display screen will illuminate and display the room temperature.
4. Press the '+' or '-' button to select high or low fan speed. The fan speed is indicated by the segments in the bottom right of the screen. If the small segment is illuminated, the fan speed is low. If both segments are illuminated, the fan speed is high.

Note:

When powering on the heater for the first time, a slight odour may be emitted for a few minutes. This is harmless and occurs with most appliances as slight traces of dust or lubricants may have collected during manufacturing.

Setting the timer

1. Press the timer button Ⓤh. The clock symbol will illuminate.
2. Press the '+' and '-' buttons to set the number of hours you want the heater to run for.
3. The heater will automatically switch off when the timer ends.

Thermostat

1. Press the temperature button ☐.
2. Press the '+' and '-' buttons to change the target temperature. The thermometer symbol will illuminate, and the target temperature will flash on the digital display.
3. After 5 seconds, the temperature will stop flashing and return to displaying the room temperature.

Remote control

The remote control duplicates all the controls that are on the control panel. Please refer to the above instructions for operation.

Over-heating protection

• This heater is protected with an over-heating protection cut-out function that switches it off automatically if its over-heats.
  • Overheating can be caused by obstruction to the air intakes on the back of the heater or the grill on the front.
• If this occurs, disconnect the heater from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool for 30 minutes. Remove any obstructions and turn the heater back on.
• The heater should operate normally. Should the problem persist contact help.Kogan.com.

Safety cut-out switch

• This heater is fitted with a safety cut-out switch to switch the heater off if it is knocked over.
• If the heater is knocked over and the cut-out switch activates, turn the heater off at the electrical outlet and take extreme care when standing the heater upright as it will still be hot.
• Inspect the heater for damage especially to the heating elements and power cord.
• If any damage is visible do not operate the heater.

CLEANING & CARE

Cleaning

• Unplug the heater and allow it to cool down before cleaning.
  • Vacuum the vents to remove dust.
• To remove dust on external surfaces, wipe the heater with a damp (not wet) lint free cloth, rinsed in hot soapy water only.
• Do not use any harsh detergent or abrasive cleaners.
• Do not spray the heater with liquids or submerge in liquids or water.
• Do not attempt to clean the interior of the heater.
• Do not attempt to open the heater casing at any time.

Storage

• Save the original packaging for storing the heater when it is not being used for an extended period.
• Clean the heater according to the cleaning instructions above before storing.
• Neatly wind the power cord to prevent damage to the cord.
• Store the heater in a dry, well-ventilated place.
