SAFETY & WARNINGS

Ensure to read all instructions and warnings in this user guide prior to first use. Retain this user guide for future reference.

• This fan heater is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the fan heater by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the fan heater.
• This fan heater is only suitable for indoor use and should not be used outdoors.
• Before plugging in the power supply, ensure the rated voltage matches the voltage used of the power supply.
• This fan heater must be connected to a fixed wall socket with a voltage and frequency of 220-240V, 50-60 Hz.
• Before use, check that the power cord and the plug are in good condition. If the power cord is damaged, do not use the fan heater. Contact help.Kogan.com for assistance.
• If this fan heater is covered or incorrectly placed, it can cause a fire hazard. Keep the fan heater at least 1.5 meters away from any direct heat sources (for example, stoves, ovens).
• Ensure there is at least a one metre clearance with walls and objects from the fan heater.
• When in use, do not block the air inlet and outlet.
• Do not use this fan heater near objects that are flammable, explosive, or when subject to heat, can cause deformation, discoloration, or deterioration.
• Do not use this fan heater in areas with severe dust.
• Do not allow skin to come into direct contact with the surface of the air outlet. This may cause severe burns.
• This fan heater is not waterproof. Do not use this fan heater in any area commonly met with water or other liquids (for example, bathtubs, swimming pools).
• Do not immerse the fan heater in water.
• To avoid overheating, do not place any objects on the air inlet or outlet.
• To avoid electric shock, do not insert metal wires or any other foreign objects into the crevices of this fan heater.
• Do not place this fan heater under hanging objects that may be prone to fall.
• Do not use this fan heater on unstable surfaces.

• Do not use this fan heater under direct sunlight.

• Do not use this fan heater as a method of heat perseveration or as heating equipment for animals and plants.

• Do not turn the fan heater on or off by pulling or inserting the power cord. Use the power button to switch the fan heater on or off.
• Do not directly pull on the power cord to move the fan heater's body.
• When in use, the power cord should be placed behind the fan heater's body to avoid overheating, damage and potential injuries.
• Do not use third-party devices with this fan heater (for example, programmable timers).
• If the connection between the power cord and socket becomes loose, or the power cord becomes abnormally hot, it may be necessary to replace the socket. Consult a qualified electrician to replace the socket.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Placement

Place the fan heater on a stable level surface. Ensure there at least a one metre clearance with the fan heater from any walls or obstructions. This will make sure there is optimal airflow from the air inlet and outlet.

Notes:

- Keep the fan heater away from curtains as they may obstruct airflow and cause the fan heater from working optimally.

- Do not use it in hot and humid areas (for example, bathroom and kitchen).

Remote control battery

This remote control requires x2 1.5V alkaline AAA batteries to operate.

1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Noting the battery polarities (+/-), insert x2 1.5V alkaline batteries into the remote control.
3. Ensuring the locking tabs click into place, secure the battery cover onto the remote control.

Notes:

• If the remote control will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries.
• Batteries are not rechargeable.
• When using the remote control, ensure to point it towards the signal receiver.

OPERATION

Powering on and off

- Connect the power cord into a socket. Press the power button in the base. The fan heater will enter standby.

- Press the power button ‘⏻’ on the LED display or remote. The fan heater will beep once then start operating.

To turn off the fan heater, when operating, press and hold the power button ‘⏻’ for two seconds. The fan heater will beep twice and the fan heater will stop operating.

Changing the angle of the air duct

The angle of the air duct can be changed manually. Before adjusting the air duct angle, ensure the fan heater is turned off.

Hold fan heater body with one hand and set the air duct 15° forward or backward.

Notes:

• When operating in Warm mode, the air duct will become hot. Shortly after the fan heater is turned off, residual heat may make the air duct too hot to touch. Wait for the air duct to cool before setting the desired angle.
• This fan heater features a built-in overheating protection sensor. If the fan heater falls over and overheats, the fan heater will automatically stop operating. Unplug the fan heater and allow it to cool before resuming use.

Power button		When in standby, press this button to turn the fan heater on.Press and hold the button for 1 second to turn the oscillating function on and off.Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to turn the fan heater off.
Filter replacement light indicator		After operating for 720 hours, this indicator will light up. Check the condition of the filter and replace if/when required. Refer to the Cleaning & Care section of this user guide for instructions on replacing the filter. After the filter has been replaced, press and hold the power button on the remote control for 5 seconds. The filter replacement light indicator will turn off and the fan heater will begin another 720-hour cycle.
UV-C disinfection light indicator		When the UV-C disinfection button is pressed on the remote control, this light indicator will illuminate. This disinfection process will automatically finish after 1 hour and the light indicator will turn off.
Wi-Fi light indicator		This indicator is used to connect the fan heater to your smart device.Refer to the ‘Connect to the SmarterHomeTM app’ section of this user guide for further instructions.
Temperature display		In Fan mode, the display will light up in white.In Warm mode, the display will light up in orange.
Mode and humidity display		The display will reflect the current mode and humidity level.

Note:

The remote control should be pointed directly at the signal receiver located near the LED display when used.

Power		Identical functions to the power button on the LED display.
Fan mode	[9W02]	Press this button once to switch the fan heater into Fan mode.In Fan mode, the LED display lights up as white.
Warm mode		Press this button once to switch the fan heater to Warm mode.In Warm mode, the LED display lights up as orange.
Modes		This fan heater features 4 speed modes. These include Normal mode, Sleep mode, Natural mode, and Boost mode.Press this button repeatedly to cycle through and select the desired mode.Normal mode: Standard operation at the selected fan speed.Sleep mode: ‘LL’ will be shown on the mode and humidity display, and the fan speed will fall to the lowest setting. This is ideal for a quiet sleep and overnight use.Natural mode: ‘--’ will be shown on the mode and humidity display. The fan speeds will go through an automatically cycle between speed setting 4, 5 and 6, simulating a varied natural breeze.Boost mode: ‘HH’ will be shown on the mode and humidity display. The fan heater will operate at the maximum fan speed.
Oscillation		Press once to turn on the oscillation function. The fan heater will begin to oscillate left and right up to 80^ ± 5^ .Press again to turn off the oscillation function.
Timer		This fan heater can be timed to operate between 1–8 hours before it automatically turns off.Press this button to set timer up to the desired hours.After the timer is triggered and the fan heater is off, press the power button as normal to resume use.
UV-C sterilisation		UV-C sterilisation is effective in eliminating various kinds of viruses and bacteria in the air.·Press once to turn on the UV-C sterilisation function.·Press again to turn off the UV-C sterilisation function.·The UV sterilisation function will automatically turn off after operating for 1 hour.
Increase/ decrease temperature		Press these buttons to adjust temperature between 1–30°C.Note:These buttons do not function in Fan mode.
Mute		·Press the mute button to turn sound off on the remote control when buttons are pressed.·Press the mute button again to turn sound on the remote control.
Increase/ decrease fan speed		·Press these buttons to adjust the fan speed.·Warm mode contains four speed levels.·Fan mode contains nine speed levels.

• This fan heater may respond to the remote control of other devices.
• Other devices may respond to the fan heater's remote control. This is due to overlapping frequencies between different remote controls. It is not an issue with the fan heater itself and is a normal phenomenon. To avoid this interference, keep the remote control away from other electrical devices during operation.
• Turning off the fan heater using the remote control does not disconnect the power supply from the fan heater. If the fan heater will not be used for an extended period, unplug the power cord from the socket.

Warm mode

1. Press the 'Warm mode' button to activate. The LED display will show the current temperature.
2. Press the 'Increase temperature' and 'Decrease temperature' buttons. The LED display will start flashing and users can adjust the desired temperature between 1-30°C.

Notes:

• The default set temperature is 25^ C.
- The temperature set should be higher than the current temperature. The heater will not turn on otherwise.

1. After the desired temperature is set, wait and the LED display will stop flashing. It will change to show the current temperature. This will increase as the area heats up.

Notes:

• When the ambient temperature reaches the set temperature, the heating function will stop and the fan heater will begin to blow cool air under lowest speed.

• When the ambient temperature drops lower than the set temperature, the heating function will automatically reactivate to maintain the set temperature.

• After the Warm mode has run for over nine hours, the fan heater will automatically stop operating. Restart by pressing the power button on the LED display or remote control.

Install App

Download the "Kogan SmarterHome" app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

To register:

1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, select 'Log In'. To register a new account, select 'Sign Up'.
2. The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap 'Get Verification Code' to continue.
3. A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
4. Continue to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.

Set device in pairing mode

When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (the Wi-Fi light indicator will be rapidly flashing).

If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device in pairing mode by holding the power button on the LED display for five seconds until the Wi-Fi light indicator is flashing.

Add device through network

1. Once registered, tap 'Add Device' on the app's home page, or the '+' in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.
2. Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Heating & Cooling > Fans).
3. Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

Notes:

• The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.

1. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi light indicator flashing rapidly, and tap 'Confirm light is rapidly flashing'.
2. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
3. After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

Once connected, you can select Create Scene from the “+” in the upper right corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHome™ products and automate their functions.

Having trouble connecting?

The prior steps detail the process for 'EZ Mode' connection. If that does not work for your connection, we suggest trying it again, and if still no success, attempting the following method for AP Mode connection.

Set device in AP pairing mode

Set the device in pairing mode by pressing and holding the power button again for five seconds until the Wi-Fi light indicator is flashing slowly.

Using AP Mode to add device

1. Follow the previous steps to select your product type (Heating & Cooling > Fans).
2. Adjust your connection method by tapping on the mode type in the top-right corner of the screen. Select 'AP Mode' for the set-up type.
3. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi light indicator flashing slowly, and tap 'Confirm light is slowly flashing'.
4. Enter your Wi-Fi details. It is important that your SmarterHome™ device and the app are connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

1. Follow the in-app prompts to continue AP Mode connection, which will pair your mobile phone to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot to ensure a connection. This may be named 'SL-KoganSmart', 'SmartLife-XXXX', or another similar name.

Note:

If the Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear on your phone in the list of available networks, your device may not be set in AP Pairing Mode correctly. Try repeating the steps outlined above to ensure your device is ready for connection.

1. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until connection is complete.
2. After successfully being added, you will have the option to rename the device and assign it to a location. It will now be listed on the app's home page. Tap the device listing to enter its control page.

GOOGLE HOME CONTROL

Note:

You will need to have set up a Google Home account prior to linking your Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding 'SmarterHome' to the Google Home app

1. From the home page of the Google Home app, select the ‘+’ icon (top left corner, see arrow in the below screenshot) to access the ‘Add and manage’ page.
2. Select 'Set up device', then select the 'Works with Google' option.

1. Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ service.
2. From here, you will be prompted to sign into your SmarterHome™ account using either your email or mobile phone number, depending on which method you used to register your account.
3. Select 'Kogan SmarterHome™' from the app options.

1. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and your devices.
2. Once connected, the app will display any compatible devices linked to your SmarterHome™ account. From here you can assign them to rooms and set up any routines. Tap on any of the devices to view a list of available commands.

By signing in, you are authorizing Google to control your devices. Authorize You can revoke permission at any time.

1. From the home page of the Alexa app, select the ‘≡’ icon in the bottom-right and select ‘Skills & Games’ from the sidebar.
2. Select the search bar and type 'Smarter Home' to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.

Filter replacement

1. Lift out the top cover.

1. Insert the new filter into the main body of the fan heater.

1. Reinstall the top cover. The magnetic lid on the top cover should form an easy tight seal to the fan heater's body.

Cleaning the fan heater body, air inlet and outlet

• Use a soft dry cloth to lightly wipe the surface of the fan heater.
• A soft cloth combined with mild diluted detergent may also be used. Wipe dry with another soft cloth.
• Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to regularly clean off any dust accumulated on the air inlet and outlet. Allowing dust to build up will reduce the efficiency of the fan heater.

Notes:

• Do not splash water on the fan heater. This is to avoid water entering and prevent the fan heater from malfunctioning.
• Do not use alcohol, other solvents, or metal objects to wipe the surface of the fan heater. This may cause damage to the surface and cause discoloration.

Remote control

Gently wipe the surface of the remote control with a soft dry cloth.

Power cord

Use soft dry cloth to clean the power cord.

Storage

After cleaning the fan heater, cover and store away if it will not be used for an extended period.

Notes:

• Avoid storing the fan heater in places with movement (for example, a car boot) or a place heated or cooled by another appliance.
• Avoid storing under sunlight and in hot and humid environments.
