Using Your Vacuum Cleaner
This vacuum cleaner has been designed to operate horizontally. Do not operate in a vertical position as this will block the exhaust and cause overheating.

natural_image

Carefully remove your vacuum cleaner from the box. You may wish to store the packaging for future use. This unit is supplied with the dust container fitted. Once assembled, it is ready for use.
Assembly
Push the hose connector into the hose inlet socket (1). Then rotate the connector 90° clockwise (2) to lock the hose to position.
To release the hose connector, press and hold the latches (3) on the side of the hose connector and rotate the connector 90° anti-clockwise to remove the hose from the unit.

Switching on
- Pull the power cable to the desired length. When you are nearing at the maximum, a yellow marker will be visible on the cable. A red marker indicates that you have reached the maximum cable length.

- Insert the mains plug into a mains power socket and switch the socket on.
- Press the Power On/Off button to switch the unit On.
- The power can be adjusted using the variable speed button.
- After use, press the Power On/Off button to switch your vacuum cleaner Off, then unplug from the mains supply.

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM CLEANER WHEN NOT IN USE.
Suction control
A thumb operated suction control is located on the hose handle. This allows you to reduce or increase the amount of suction to suit the vacuuming task.
Maximum suction gives the best results during normal vacuuming, however, reduced suction may be more appropriate if you are vacuuming fabrics or upholstery.

Cord rewind

WARNING
TAKE GREAT CARE WHEN USING THE CORD REWIND BUTTON, PARTICULARLY WHEN CHILDREN OR PETS ARE NEARBY, AS THE REWIND ACTION MAY CAUSE THE CORD TO'WHIP'.

Caution
Always ensure that your vacuum cleaner is unplugged from the mains supply before using the cord rewind button.
Holding the power cord in one hand, press the cord rewind button and carefully feed the cableback into the cleaner.

Storage
To aid storage, there are two brush holders on the vacuum cleaner. One is located on the underside of the vacuum cleaner, and the other is at the rear.

natural_image

-
To maintain cleaning performance remove and clean the main filter each time the bin is emptied. (See instructions on page 18).
-
When empty, lift the base back until it clicks into position at the bottom of the dust container.
-
Slide the dust container back into the vacuum cleaner.
Clearing blockages
If the suction still seems to be lower than expected after the dust container bag has been emptied, there may be a blockage in one of the tubes or attachments. Unplug the cleaner and check the following areas for blockages:
• The hose inlet socket (a).
- The joint where the flexible hose connects to the attachments (b).
• The inlet to the floor brush (c).

If you cannot see the blockage, it may be in one of the knee-joints situated at the end of the plastic hose. To undo these joints, use a flat-bladed screwdriver (or similar tool) to carefully press in the release lugs, then pull the joint apart. Remove any blockage, then push the joint together again until the lugs latch into place.

Service and Maintenance
Depending on usage you will need to periodically clean the filters. Refer to the instructions in the following sections.

Troubleshooting
Thermal cut-out
This vacuum cleaner is fitted with a thermal cut out that protects the cleaner if the motor overheats. If the cleaner stops suddenly of its own accord, follow this procedure:
1 Switch off the vacuum cleaner and unplug from the mains supply.
2 Check for the source of the overheating problem (blocked hose, clogged filter etc.).
3 Unblock the hose, empty the dust container and clean the filters if required.
4 Wait for approximately 30-40 minutes to allow the motor to cool.
5 After 30-40 minutes, plug in the vacuum cleaner and switch it on. The vacuum cleaner should now work.
6 If it still does not work, wait another 20 minutes and try again.
If your cleaner is still not functioning correctly, please contact the BUSH helpline on 1800 509 394 in Australia or 0800 450 259 in New Zealand.
