Reading and storing the user manual
This user manual accompanies the bathtub safety rail. It contains important information on how to handle the bathtub safety rail. Carefully read through the user manual particularly the safety instructions, before using the bathtub safety rail. Failure to comply with these instructions may result in severe injury or damage to property. For improved readability, the bathtub safety rail will be referred to only as the "rail" below. When abroad, you must also observe country-specific guidelines and laws! Hold onto the user manual for future reference. If you pass the rail on to third parties, be absolutely sure to include this user manual.

3. Intended use
This rail is exclusively for private indoor use. It is not suitable for commercial use in clinics, nursing homes, etc. The rail is suitable for tubs with walls that measure 3-7 inches thick. The rail provides stability getting in and out of the bathtub. The rail is not designed to support the full weight of an individual. The rail is not recommended for use with fiberglass tubs.

Take the rail carefully out of the packaging. Remove the packaging material.

WARNING
Please observe the following safety instructions in order to avoid injury to persons or damage to the rail/tub or property.
Risk of suffocation
If children play with the packaging wrapper, they could suffocate. Make sure that children do not play with the packaging material.
- DO NOT over-tighten the clamp on porcelain tubs as it may crack or damage them.
- DO NOT use substitute parts. Non-Welby rail replacement parts could cause personal injury and damage to the rail and/or the tub.
- Ensure the rail is securely attached to the tub before each use.
- DO NOT exceed the maximum vertical weight capacity of 250 lbs (113 kg).
The rail is not designed to support the total weight of an individual. Use the rail for assistance only.
Max. horizontal weight capacity alongside bathtub: 55 lbs (25 kg).
Max. horizontal weight capacity diagonally to bathtub: 100 lbs (45 kg).

USE: Provides stability getting in and out of the bathtub.

WARNING NOT for pulling yourself out of the tub.

Safety information / Instructions for proper use
- Only one person may use the rail at any given time.
- Rails add security for bath and commode areas when attached as recommended. Users with limited physical capabilities should be supervised or assisted when using the rail.
- The manufacturer does not accept any responsibility for injury or consequential damage to property or assets that is caused by incorrect assembly or use.
- DO NOT carry out any modifications to the rail. Do not attach any additional elements.
- ONLY mount the rail on the long edge of a straight bathtub. The rail must not be used on round or semi-circular bathtubs. The edge of the tub must be suitable and stable enough for assembly. Please check that the bathtub edge is stable and suitable before mounting the rail.
- DO NOT assemble the rail at other objects or furniture (e.g. tables, beds, shower trays).
- The rail is heavy. Please make sure that you do not bump into tiles or mirrors with it during assembly/disassembly.
8. Instructions for proper use

WARNING
Risk of falling
ALWAYS check that the rail is secured to the tub before use. If the rail is not screwed tightly enough, it may tilt when you hold on to it.
- Use the rail for support when entering or exiting the tub.
• DO NOT use as sports equipment
• DO NOT use as a climbing aid. - Use EXTREME caution on wet tub or floor surfaces.
- NEVER use the rail if any looseness is detected.
- Soap or bath oil on the rail or your hands may cause you to slip. Please dry your hands and the rail thoroughly before use.
- Do not use the rail as a storage surface or to hang bath or shower utensils (brushes, cloths, etc.). These may reduce the rail's holding force and/or become a trip hazard.

9. Assembly
Prior to assembly, wash the tub area where the rail will be installed. All contact surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of any residue to ensure a secure attachment. The edge of the bathtub must be suitable and stable enough for assembly. Please check that the bathtub edge is stable and suitable before mounting the rail.

- DO NOT install rail if damage is found.
- DO NOT install rail onto dirty or wet tubs.

Mechanical clamp mechanism diagram showing rotational motion (no text or symbols)Place the rail 1 over tub side. Turn the screw clamp 2 clockwise to secure the back plate 4 to the rail 1 as shown. Make sure that the rail is fixed securely. If the rail 1 is still wobbly, tighten the screw clamp 2 or position the rail 1 at a different point on the bathtub edge.

CAUTION
DO NOT overtighten the clamp on porcelain tubs as it may crack or damage them.

WARNING
The rail may require tightening from time to time. Check periodically and tighten when needed.

10. Disassembly
When you wish to remove the rail 1 e.g. to clean the bathtub thoroughly, turn the screw clamp 2 clockwise and lift the rail 1 up.
11. Cleaning and care
- DO NOT use an abrasive detergent, cleaner, or cloth to clean or dry the rail.
- Clean rail by hand.
- Regular cleaning and inspection is recommended.
- Keep the rail clean and free of foreign matter. In particular, keep it free of grease, oil, and dirt.
- Wipe the rail dry before and after each use.
- Remove any dirt with a damp cloth and, if necessary, using a standard neutral household cleaner. Then wipe dry.
- For a thorough clean, you should dismantle the rail in order to clean the rubber padding as well.
- For any contamination with infectious material, the rail can be disinfected with standard, alcohol-containing surface disinfectants.
12. Maintenance
The rail must be maintained in good working order. All the parts of the rail must be in perfect, functional condition. Inspect the rail weekly and tighten as needed to ensure proper installation. DO NOT use substitute parts. Non-Welby rail replacement parts could cause personal injury and damage to the rail and/or the tub. Dispose of the rail if it is defective or worn. If you assemble/disassemble the rail on a frequent basis, please make sure that the rubber padding is in flawless condition.

13. Disposal
Disposing of the packaging
Sort the packaging before you dispose of it. Dispose of cardboard and carton as waste paper and foils via the recyclable material collection service. Please ensure your recycling information does apply to the local regulations and the EPA recommendations (www.epa.gov).
Disposing of the rail
Old devices must not be disposed of with household waste!
If the device can no longer be used, every user is required by law to dispose of old devices separately from their household waste, e.g. at a collection point in their community/borough. This ensures that old devices are recycled in a professional manner and also rules out negative consequences for the environment.
