Extron MTP AV Series transmitters and receivers for S-video and composite video with audio can be used with any CAT 5, 5e, or 6 twisted pair cable or with Extron Enhanced Skew-Free™ A/V UTP cable for cable runs of 1,000 feet (300 meters) or more. With remote power capability, only the transmitter or the receiver has to be powered for point to point applications. The compact, 1U, one-eighth rack width design enables the MTP AV Series to maximize rack space. Up to eight units will fit on a single rack shelf. Transmitters are also available in a double space AAP - Architectural Adapter Plate size or the PowerCage™ modular board design. The AAP is ideal for mounting in various architectural mounting frames and products such as the Extron Cable Cubby or AVTrac.

Active Balanced Transmission

The MTP AV Series transmitters and receivers provide active, balanced transmissions for both video and audio signals, delivering superior image quality over long distances. The receiver units provide sharpness and gain controls for optimizing image quality. The sharpness adjustment provides variable high frequency video equalization for enhanced detail, while the gain adjustment compensates for overall signal level loss occurring in lengthy cable runs.

Mono or Stereo Audio

Incoming stereo audio signals are summed and sent as mono audio to the receiver, which provides a dual mono audio output. By default, the MTP AV Series is compatible with the entire Extron MTP Series of twisted pair products. Stereo audio transmission is supported via an internal jumper, enabling the units to be configured for point-to-point applications with stereo audio requirements.

Installation and Cost Advantage

Because MTP AV Series transmitters and receivers use twisted pair cable for distribution, they offer considerable advantages in cost, performance, and ease of installation over traditional coaxial cabling. Twisted pair cable is a fraction of the size of coaxial cable, and much lighter, more flexible, and less expensive, thus providing A/V system designers and installers with an economical, space-efficient solution for a variety of applications.
